George W. Bush surprises

Politico, by Josh Gerstein

President George W. Bush, whose White House was legendary for its secrecy, seems to have turned over a new leaf in his post-presidency. A previously undisclosed directive Bush signed almost two years after leaving office could result in many of his official records becoming public faster than those of his predecessor, President Bill Clinton, experts say — a move that’s drawing praise from unlikely quarters.Bush’s letter to the National Archives about his presidential records, obtained by POLITICO under the Freedom of Information Act, establishes nine categories of documents cleared for release to the public. They include memoranda and reports provided

Legendary for its secrecy compared to what? Certainly not libtard administrations.

FTA: ~~A close observer of White House operations, Towson University political science professor Martha Kumar, said Bush likely views himself as having little to lose and something to gain by being open with his official files.

“He left the presidency very comfortable with his record. I think that’ll carry through into the release of information from it,” Kumar said. “I think he believes his actions were justified and that the records will demonstrate that.”

The jackals of the ´press´ do not believe that, and shall do everything in their power to sift through every word in order to do whatever damage they wish to inflict..(the exact opposite of the way they are handling the highly redacted Clinton records).

The partisan spin in the first line, alone, is dizzifying. W´s admin had some confidentiality to it; but compared to the opaqueness of Bubba and Barry´s admins, W´s was practically transparent.

Applying so much spin so early in this article would lower Politico´s credibility in my estimation, if not for the fact that their credibility was already so close to zero.

Yea and Bush was also legendary for stealing elections, indiscriminately invading countries without congressional approval, going it alone, flying aircraft into buildings while cowering under a school child´s desk, being the puppet of Cheney´s oil buddies, lying about WMD´s...I´m sure I´m forgetting a great deal.

For the left, the "secrecy" meme derived from from Dick Cheney meeting with Oil Co. People for which executive privilege was properly claimed when the left wing press asked details of the meetings. That was a nice play by GWB and the leftoids still hold a grudge. ....and yet we now have no idea (or does the MSM bother to ask) about the parade of miscreants that now waltz through the White House. Muslim Brotherhood, SEIU and Enviro-kooks of every stripe......

Having said that, I view this as yet another thumb in the eye of the left by GWB who really did "restore honor and integrity to the White House".

If you´ve ever had the misfortune to know someone who was a thief, you will remember that he can´t get through his first cup of coffee without telling you about how someone just stole all of his stuff. (Justifying his anticipated day´s activities)

Leftists, being thieves of the first degree, see a move like this by GWB as a way of covering something up.

Criminals are criminals and they act like criminals.

Just listen to these lying dirt bags in the Spitehouse and what they say every damn day.

How can it be possible that the revolution has not started yet???

Our Founding Fathers explained to us, in great detail, all the hows and whys of tyrannical government and exactly what to do about it.

So now that a few journalists have crawled out to say the Obama admin is unprecedented in its control of the media, Politico jumps in to label the Bush WH as legendary for its secrecy.

What a coincidence.

Josh has a lie in his first sentence. I can´t be bothered to read the rest.
GWB´s Presidency was NOT legendary for its secrecy--unlike Obama; GWB just never tried to saturate the airwaves with his voice, or blitz every college and campaign cash stop with his boring speeches. Again, unlike Obama.
Tell me just one item that GWB was "secretive" about, aside from National security items.
I just love how the Lamestream Media just makes stuff up at will.

We have written several times about the logjam on visas for foreign interpreters who served our military during Iraq and Afghanistan wars. The logjam has been particularly egregious for Afghan interpreters. Even Democrats are appalled. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen said last year: We have to keep our promise to individuals who risked their lives serving alongside our troops. Failing to act puts lives at further risk and hurts our credibility around the globe. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, a veteran of the Afghan war, expressed “deep concern” that “the threat posed to interpreters by Taliban insurgents in Afghanistan is being downplayed or disregarded,”

Alexis de Tocqueville once said that the limits placed on the central power in the new world are different from the limits placed on national power in the old world. In the New World, the national government has jurisdiction in certain specific areas. It is prohibited by law and custom from transgressing the boundaries of its jurisdiction. In that sense its power is severely limited. But within those boundaries it is sovereign and almost completely beyond challenge. If something such as war or taxing power is deemed a ‘federal matter,’ challenges to that power, for example the Whiskey Rebellion, were

We all remember the fable of The Boy Who Cried Wolf. The moral of the story: Lie one too many times and nobody will believe you, even when you’re telling the truth. Now we have a case of The Government Who Cried Wolf, showing how the failure of the Obama administration’s foreclosure mitigation programs haunt them to this day. The Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA), which oversees mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, wants to help around 676,000 homeowners it has identified as eligible for refinancing under the government’s Home Affordable Refinancing Program (HARP).

Israel´s military said Sunday that four of its special forces soldiers were injured in clashes during an incursion into northern Gaza to destroy a rocket launching site as both sides ignored a unanimous recommendation for a cease-fire from the U.N. The military said that the soldiers had returned to Israeli territory and the operation did not appear to herald the start of a larger ground offensive. Ordinarily, a money-losing company like Cynk Technology Corp. (OTC:CYNK) would languish on the over-the-counter stock market and attract little attention from either investors or the media. Cynk, though, has managed to attract plenty of attention, along with a market capitalization of $4.5 billion. That´s an astonishing feat for a company with no products, no revenue, no website and exactly one employee. To put this in perspective, the New York Times Co. (NYT), whose roots date back to 1851, sports a market value of $2.1 billion, while restaurant chain Zoe´s Kitchen (ZOES), which has 111 locations in 15 states, is valued by the

NEW YORK - The federal government is continuing to dole out billions of dollars to people who shouldn´t get them. A government watchdog agency said an estimated $106 billion in payments were made in error last year: meaning they were the wrong amount, went to the wrong person or lacked sufficient documentation. These payments include tax refunds, unemployment benefits, Social Security benefits, and Medicare and Medicaid coverage. The improper payments could be even higher since not all agencies reported to the Government Accountability Office. The White House acknowledged that "the loss to the Federal Government is significant," but it pointed

The US government has been pushing the idea of home solar panels for quite a while now, giving the industry a significant, additional nudge when the current federal subsidy program was generously expanded in 2008. The idea behind this was that if homeowners wanted to save some money on their energy bill by using solar power, they could receive a 30% subsidy to help cover the costs. Sounds pretty sweet, eh? Well, when the government is giving away taxpayer cash, plenty of people will line up to get it… and it’s not always those who were intended to benefit. This

Both acknowledged Boehner’s gripe with the Obama administration had merit, but were skeptical of the lawsuit’s chances. However, they both also took on the alternative offered by former Gov. Both dismissed that course of action as well, with Brooks calling it “cloud cuckoo land.” Partial transcript as follows: WOODRUFF: So the Highway Trust
