Interview: James Delingpole on The

“I’m not a scientist and actually given what I’ve seen of scientists in my experiences following the global warming scam, I’m glad I’m not a scientist because a lot of these guys are basically shysters and crooks. They’re not some kind of white-coated elite with a special hotline to the truth. In fact, they’re just ordinary guys and girls trying to earn a living like the rest of us but slightly more dodgily than the rest of us in the one or two egregious cases,” James Delingpole of Ricochet.com, the UK Spectator and the executive editor the newly launched Breitbart

What good is science---or anything else---if it can´t be used by leftists to scam money out of the gullible? Liberalism in a nutshell.

Scientists stopped being scientific when they became a part of the entitlement culture. Universities have become dependent upon grant money to pay the obscene salaries demanded by the administration. They, in turn, place enormous pressure on faculty to publish papers that bring in grants at any cost. That cost is reflected in the shabby quality of the education received by undergraduates and the even shabbier research passing for science that gets published in the journals.

Happening Now’s Martha MacCallum and National Review editor Jonah Goldberg considered a photo tweeted yesterday of President Barack Obama and Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper playing a game of billiards, and agreed it presented terrible optics given Obama’s decision not to go to the border during his upcoming trip to Texas. “This is a sign that the bubble around the White House is much thicker than people think,” Goldberg said. “Obama’s always liked to cultivate the idea of the ‘No Drama Obama.’ Maybe they think this shows him as an every-man kind of thing.”

A 26-year-old Northern California prostitute has been arrested in the mysterious death of a Google executive, according to police. Forrest Hayes was a 51-year-old married father of five. He loved his family and his boat. He was beloved by his colleagues at Google X, the tech giant’s innovation lab. But Hayes was apparently living a secret life that no one seemed to have suspected. Shortly before Thanksgiving last year, police found him on his yacht in the Santa Cruz Small Craft Harbor, dead from a heroin overdose. On the night of his death, according to police, Hayes had met up with Alix Tichleman, a young call girl he’d met on

BERLIN — The police searched the Berlin-area office and apartment of a man suspected of being a spy on Wednesday, the federal prosecutor’s office said, deepening the espionage scandal that has taken relations between Washington and Berlin to a new low. No one has been arrested yet and the investigation is ongoing, the prosecutor’s office said in a terse statement that concluded, “no further information can be given right now.” The statement did not specify that the suspect had been spying for the United States. But the German daily Süddeutsche Zeitung and two public broadcasters, which together form an investigative reporting unit,

Israel claims to have foiled an audacious amphibious assault when Palestinian militants emerged from the sea north of Gaza. In footage of the incident released by the Israeli military, two figures are seen walking out of the surf on an Israeli beach north of Gaza near Zikim. At least four militants are then seen running over sand dunes apparently carrying weapons before being targeted and "neutralised" by Israeli missiles. The incident is being seen as evidence of the new capabilities of Islamic militants in Gaza, whose rockets in the past 24 hours have gone further than ever before – in one case

There is simply no downside for Sarah Palin in calling for Barack Obama’s impeachment. She grabs a nice bit of media attention. She rallies her conservative base. She gets to talk about it on Fox. And since she holds no elective office, she doesn’t have to worry about whether her rhetorical broadside has the slightest chance of succeeding. In fact, the chances that the House will impeach a second straight Democratic president are extremely remote. But so what? Palin gets the issue and positions herself on the leading edge of anti-Obamaism. The former Alaska governor and Fox News contributor launched her attack yesterday

Conservatives have for a generation spent too much time complaining about the liberal dominance of popular culture, and too little making their own. But — as I argue in National Review this month — there is a growing countercultural revolt against the ingrained (and often unconscious) liberalism of mainstream popular culture, a revolt that has so far escaped widespread notice, though you can find some of it on Liberty Island, a website I founded that is devoted to the best in conservative fiction. After reading my introduction to this literary revolt, the editors of BuzzFeed asked me to suggest a

Sen. In a letter sent to Justice Department officials, the senator’s attorney asserts that the plot was timed to derail the political rise of Menendez (D-N.J.), one of Washington’s most ardent critics of the Castro regime. At the time, Menendez was running for reelection and was preparing to assume the powerful chairmanship of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. According to

Here’s one thing you won’t find in Hillary Clinton’s book: a clear reason to run for president again. The “Hard Choices” book tour has had all the trappings of a warm-up for 2016, and even though Clinton insists she hasn’t decided yet, she keeps dropping hints that she has ideas for the future of the country. “You’ve got to ask people who want to run for anything, but particularly president, what’s your vision? What is your vision for our country, and do you think you can lead us there?” Clinton said at a CNN “town hall” forum.

This is the first big step by Bloomberg — who has committed to spending $50 million of his personal fortune this year to build a national grass-roots movement that will pressure lawmakers to pass more restrictive gun laws — to devise a political strategy heading into the November elections. Bloomberg’s group, Everytown for Gun Safety, is asking all Senate and House

The White House on Tuesday formally requested $3.7 billion in emergency funding from Congress to deal with an influx of Central American minors along the southern border. But the proposal was quickly met with broad skepticism among Republican lawmakers, who were doubtful that the package would be approved quickly — if at all. Administration officials said the request is part of a comprehensive strategy aimed at building more detention centers, adding immigration judges, and beefing up border patrols and air surveillance. President Obama has said he hopes such steps will both speed deportations and discourage adults from sending children on

Sarah Palin on Tuesday joined a growing chorus of Republicans calling for the impeachment of President Obama, writing in a Breitbart op-ed that the influx of young illegal immigrants over the southern border "is the last straw that makes the battered wife say, ´no mas.´ " Mixed/careless metaphors aside, this is nothing but bad news for Republicans — especially four months until the 2014 election. Starting next week, House Republicans will launch a highly visible—and likely tumultuous—three-week process of bringing to the floor legislation to authorize their promised lawsuit against President Obama over his use of executive actions. "In theory, you could report out a resolution tomorrow and vote on it," said a House GOP aide on Tuesday. "But that is not the approach [the leaders] want to take." Rather, the aim is to display—if not actually engage in—a more deliberative process, even if amid controversy. This drawn-out script builds toward a potentially dramatic floor vote held just days, or even hours, before the House adjourns on

WASHINGTON — Congressional Democrats said Tuesday that they had developed legislation to override the Supreme Court decision on contraceptives. The bill would ensure that women have access to coverage for birth control even if they work for businesses that have religious objections. The bill, developed in consultation with the Obama administration, would require for-profit corporations like Hobby Lobby Stores to provide and pay for contraceptive coverage, along with other preventive services, under the Affordable Care Act. The measure could be on the Senate floor as early as next week, Senate Democrats said. “Your health care decisions are not your boss’s

Enough is enough of the years of abuse from this president. His unsecured border crisis is the last straw that makes the battered wife say, “no mas.” Without borders, there is no nation. Obama knows this. Opening our borders to a flood of illegal immigrants is deliberate. This is his fundamental transformation of America. It’s the only promise he has kept. Discrediting the price paid for America’s exceptionalism over our history, he’s given false hope and taxpayer’s change to millions of foreign nationals who want to sneak into our country illegally. Fate hasn´t been kind to Hillary Clinton, at least not in its most recent phase. In 2008, when the plate was set for the national Democrats, she lost the nomination to Barack Obama, of scant years and no gravitas, who soared out of nowhere to wrench destiny from her on the unspecified promise of "change." Now, "change" has come, and people don´t like it. Iraq changed from a safe, stable ally (just ask Obama) to a terrorist haven, one of the reasons why, though no fellow Democrats seem likely to edge her, her chances of winning the White House seem dim. With the system being overwhelmed, Border Patrol agents are concerned about minors who have admitted to being MS-13 members, a brutal street gang from El Salvador that has been successful in infiltrating American communities. Agents are also concerned about minors who have committed acts like torture and murder in their home countries before heading north to the United States. "We have six minors in Nogales
