What Really Happened at the Bay of Pigs
Townhall, by Humberto Fontova

(You always hear and read of a “fiasco,” a “defeat” a “disaster” at the Bay of Pigs, 53 years ago this week. But you rarely hear about the cause. Here it is.) "They fought like tigers," writes the CIA officer who helped train the Cubans who splashed ashore at the Bay of Pigs 53 years ago this week. "But their fight was doomed before the first man hit the beach." That CIA man, Grayston Lynch, knew something about fighting – and about long odds. He carried scars from Omaha Beach, The Battle of the Bulge and Korea´s Heartbreak Ridge. But

My spouse was sweating his arse off in a Tin Can dead in the water right off the coast. No hot food, rationed water.
And I was scared the Russians were going to start another BIG one.

JFK never got the blame and derision he deserved for the Bay of Pigs and his cowardly inaction. The Cuban Missile Crisis and the near nuclear war with the Russians would never have happened had JFK manned up.
JFK was a lightweight with no real accomplishments in office beyond womanizing
Not on a par with our worst President, Barack Hussein Obama, or a second worst, Jimmuh Cahtuh.
But JFK is definitely not deserving to be besainted as the Dems would have you believe

JFK had inherited the Bay of Pigs plan from the Ike/Nixon administration under the guise train exiles using the CIA WITHOUT direct involvment of the US military.

The "government in exile"had already been assembled and the US would recognize this government and be asked to restore order. The people would welcome this, they were told.

The mafia was employed to take care of Castro beforehand, but were unsuccessful. The operation was to run smoothly without their leader to rally them.

Sound familiar?

The mission was called "Operation Zapata" and two ships who supported the invasion were code named the "Houston" and the "Barbara".

When the operation started turning sour, JFK would not roll over and order the direct use of US military forces to "save the CIA planners asses". He had been told that this could be accomplished WITHOUT direct contact of the US military, which the CIA planners knew WAS A BALD-FACE LIE". They thought he could be persuaded to send in support.

After this debacle, some heads at the company rolled, especially Allen Dulles who mysteriously serves on the Warren Commission to hide and lie about the skullduggery going on in Mexico City to incriminate one Lee Oswald.

Kennedy opts to break them into a thousand pieces, the Cubans get mad, and JFK goes in with his proverbial tail between his legs meeting with Kruschev who perceives him as weak so we get missles in Cuba.

After trying to re-establish private back-channel communications with Castro, it gets found out sets things in motion which this country has never recovered.

Terrible and senseless loss of life.

I have a friend who was left on the beach. Mention JFK or any Democrat to him and you will be lucky to leave intact. To him the Democrats and their hindlicker Liberals are the enemy of the USA.

As for misspellings, I´ve always heard that when you have no intelligence high enough to discuss the issue, then use personal attacks, name calling or correct grammar and spelling. Hey I see misspellings in this forum quite frequently.

Also I find that spell checkers are not the end-all that snot noses think. While some words may be wrong if they are spelled correctly the checker will miss them (there their, buy by bye, and many more).

#5, thanks for bringing us back to reality. Excellent summary. Another tidbit:

Just prior to the invasion, Gen. Shoup, Commandant of the Marine Corps, who as a Colonel was the lead regimental commander at Tarawa, stood up at the meeting in the Oval Office and walked up to a chalk board. He drew a dot, then drew Cuba (which is a little smaller than Pennsylvania). He then said something to the effect that during WWII it took 10,000 Marines and three days to secure Tarawa (the dot). How did anyone expect 1500 men to seize Cuba, with or without air support? The rest as we know, was JFKs and the CIA´s tragic folly.

Eisenhower had started the planning and training for taking down Castro. During the Nixon-Kennedy debate, Kennedy came out strong in overthrowing Castro, Nixon knowing about the prepping, but not wanting to blow the invasion, held his fire. Some say it threw the debate in Kennedy´s favor. Once elected Kennedy had to do something so he put the Cuban´s ashore and did not help them once they got in trouble. Democrats make me sick.

Democrats love to get us involved in wars, to look macho, but then find they don´t have what it takes to see it through. We are still dealing with Korea and Cuba because of them. Korea was won until the Chinese got involved, but we weren´t allowed to attack the Chinese. Sound familiar? They got us in to Vietnam, and then abandoned South Vietnam to fend for themselves. Now our soldiers are dying because of Politically Correct Rules of Engagement. Nothing that Democrats and leftists advocate actually works in the real world, but they keep insisting that it´s the only way.

Funny thing. I knew growing up that the reason this operation failed was because JFK cut its heart out. He inherited it from Ike and couldn´t shut it down so he did the next best (worst) thing by ensuring its failure. I just assumed everyone else knew that as well. Even to this day.

I grew up in Miami and met some of the CIA guys back then. They were real men´s men and straight shooters.
One of my best friends knew many of the CIA guys on a first name basis.
JFK knew about the Rebels requiring air support befor the operation took place. Air support was promised but never delivered as JFK with Bobby at his side got cold feet. I also had a good friend that deserted from a very high position in Castros government. He explained how bad and evil Castro got after he took over and about the Bay of Pigs fiasco.
He went on to become a department head in the US government.
JFK was certainly not what the press made him out to be. He was a disaster as a president.

I lived in Miami then and remember this well. The plan was Eisenhowers and included air support. If Nixon had been elected it would have been done right. Unfortunately JFK did not have the courage either to cancel it or to provide air cover. Of course, the plan could not work without it. If you hve ever wondered why Cubans are Republicans, this is the reason.

However, the bad news is that the latest generation of Cubans have forgotten Democratic betrayal and don´t grasp how bad life is in Cuba. They are beginning to vote Democrat. I have this information from a friend of my grandson who came here from Cuba with his mother on a raft and who was old enough at the time to know what he was leaving. He is distraught at the voting change.

Despite fiery statements issued by Hamas spokesmen over the past 48 hours, it was obvious Tuesday night that the Islamist movement was searching for ways to rid itself of the current escalation. Hamas feels that it has been forced into a confrontation with Israel – one that it did not want at this stage because of its increased isolation and financial crisis. Ever since President George W. Bush said “Islam is peace” on Sept. 17, 2001, it has been politically shielded from any debate about its effects on its adherents or on the rest of the world. Muslim nations and pressure groups such as the Council on American-Islamic Relations have used political correctness as a weapon to punish anyone who dared to begin any debate on Islam by calling them “Islamophobes,” an accusation of racism. That era was ended by the lead editorial in the July 5 edition of The Economist, the prominent liberal British news magazine. Titled “The Tragedy of the Arabs,”

Half a dozen things went through my mind. Maybe he’s trying some sort of Cloward-Piven maneuver: an attempt to overwhelm our welfare state to the point where we replace it with “a guaranteed annual income and thus an end to poverty.” Or maybe he’s just trying to flood the population with Democrat voters. Back in the heyday of the British Empire, a man from one of the colonies addressed a London audience. "Please do not do any more good in my country," he said. "We have suffered too much already from all the good that you have done." That is essentially the message of an outstanding new book by Jason Riley about blacks in America. Its title is "Please Stop Helping Us." Its theme is that many policies designed to help blacks are in fact harmful, sometimes devastatingly so. These counterproductive policies range from minimum wage laws to "affirmative action" quotas. This book untangles the controversies,
