Deadbeat on the Range
New York Times, by Timothy Eagan

Original Article

Imagine a vendor on the National Mall, selling burgers and dogs, who hasn’t paid his rent in 20 years. He refuses to recognize his landlord, the National Park Service, as a legitimate authority. Every court has ruled against him, and fines have piled up. What’s more, the effluents from his food cart are having a detrimental effect on the spring grass in the capital. Would an armed posse come to his defense, aiming their guns at the park police? Would the lawbreaker get prime airtime on Fox News, breathless updates in the Drudge Report, a sympathetic ear from Tea Party Republicans?

Comments:
When we take the Senate and then the White House, a way has to be found to give a lot of the public lands to the states or even sell them to private individuals.

The hot dog stand on the Mall analogy is accurate,..as far as it goes. However one needs to go a little farther. Suppose the stand was started 160 years ago when the mall was an untamed brush lot. Suppose the government encouraged you make improvements on the Mall. Clear some brush, put in a few benches, some water fountains and other amenities. As time goes by your stand prospers and the Mall owners want a cut. At first it is reasonable, but after a while the Mall has better offers from a large chain. They move in some exotic rabbits and up your rent. They offer to buy you out at pennies on the dollar, and make rules that their friends on some rogue Court uphold. You object and they bring in some mafia enforcers. Now write the end to this story.

When you write an article without understanding the issues or call people that you don´t know derogatory names, you should consider yourself a lazy or socially undesirable person and, as defined in the World English Dictionary, that is a real "deadbeat".

#7, I agree.
Regardless, for purposes of this argument, of whether Bundy is right or wrong, my objection is the use of excessive force by our government.
Our government does NOT need armed officials in this matter at all.
How are the cows a threat? And not once was Bundy armed.
The most frightening aspect to me is the willingness of our brothers in official capacity to take up arms against us.
I used to think that no matter how evil the dem running for office was, the majority of Americans would see the truth and not vote him in. I was wrong in 2008 and again in 2012.
Now I hang on to the hope that American will not take up arms against American. But the Bundy incident has shaken my hope.

As usual, one journ-O-LIAR getting his info from one of his peers and then tries to act as a expert. Perhaps he needs to go waaaaaay back and read the "enclave" claus with gives certain rights as long as the property in use was deemed those rights.

Right now, the Bundy´s should be suing the Fed. Gov´t. for the death of their cattle and for destruction to the infrastructure installed by the Bundy´s.
Go after Dirty Hairy Reid for proclaiming a monster of a LIE-defamation of the Bundy´s by saying they had not paid their Taxes due and calling them Domestic Terrorists.
Fortunately there are sufficient sites with video of his statements for proof.
Next, an investigation between the chief LEO of Clark Co. Is he being paid by Reid? He certainly was not upholding the oath he took when elected.
Matter of contention as well is that Dingy Hairy Reid is not representing the Nevada citizen for which he took an Oath to represent. Instead he sided with the BLM and big government. Strange he forgot for whom he works.
Get the Lawsuits started Mr. Bundy---Tons of damages from the BLM, including assault on members of your family and threats to kill.

Imagine the New York Times coming down on illegal aliens a/or calling them deadbeats or a strain on the food stamp and welfare and Medicaid systems. Ya, I know, the super rich need their servant class folks whom they underpay and overuse and abuse or at least take advantage of.

Imagine the New York Times coming down on the BLM in Iron County, Utah where the County Commissioners had a ting to

Imagine the New York Times coming down on the side of full disclosure and transparency as promised by el Presidente in this and all other overreaches. Well, the analogy is lame.

Let´s suppose there´s a baloney vendor in WashingtonDC. He stands on the corner with his cart. Baloney sells well.

DC rises above and around him. The Federal Government now wants that corner so that the stream of limos arriving from K Street every day can arrive at the Captitol unimpeded. The lobbyists offer the boloney man a wad of dough.
...but this has nothing to do with Mr. Bundy.

Mr. Bundy wants only to raise cattle as his family has for more than 100 years. He wants his grazing fees to be ONCE AGAIN collected by the State of Nevada.

Grazing fees were supposed to be for a fund to help ranchers in times of trouble.

The real danger on the range are solar panels and wind farms which kill all manner of birds and desert animals INCLUDING the tortoise.

The line of baloney (or something more like bull excrement) in Nevada is what Harry Reed drops every time he opens his mouth.

Maybe I have misunderstood the matter, but wouldn´t a fair analogy have to take place outside of D.C. which IS rightfully controlled by the federal government? So how about this: a family of hot dog vendors sets up shop in a mall in Maryland and pays their rent for over 100 years. Suddenly, the state of Maryland says that the shop is on Maryland property and the vendor must also pay the state a fee. As I understand it, Mr. Bundy says that he and his family never contracted with the federal government which waltzed in over 20 years ago and said that the land belonged to them and that Bundy better pay up. He felt this was usurpatious and refused to cooperate. Recently the Feds made a show of lethal force to tell us all that they are more concerned with money than human life. Or am I missing something? As to the above argument about illegals, very good call. We are living through a peaceful invasion of our country which is possibly designed to change our way of life. We can´t fight back because too many of our representative don´t care about the effects on the citizenry and if we speak up we are the skunks at the garden party.

The reluctance of Hamas’s “military wing”—a misnomer for the more extreme elements of its extremist leadership—to accept the cease-fire designed by Egypt is, well, logical. Let’s admit it. They do not wish to accept defeat, and the Egyptian terms are a defeat for Hamas. By attacking Israel, what has Hamas wrought? Considerable damage was done to Gaza by Israeli air power, and Gazans will be picking up the pieces for months if not longer. But Hamas proved unable to kill one single Israeli with its hundreds of rockets, and all its special tricks—tunnels, longer-range rockets, a drone—also failed. Nor could

House Republicans are moving quickly to address the growing humanitarian crisis on the southern border, possibly holding votes as soon as next week. As Congress moves closer to the monthlong August recess, the speedy action sends a clear message to Senate Democrats: Take it or leave it. Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), incoming Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) and a group of top lawmakers working on the border crisis are set to file a bill that very closely mirrors the legislation crafted by Texas lawmakers Sen. John Cornyn, a Republican, and Democratic Rep. Henry Cuellar.

Two of the larger social trends of our time — the growth of payday gambling and the legalization of marijuana — have two things in common: They are justified as the expansion of personal liberty, and they serve the interests of an expanding government. The ideological alliance behind these changes is among the strangest in U.S. politics. Libertarians seek to lift governmental restraints on consensual acts. State governments seek sources of revenue without the political inconvenience of requesting broad tax increases. It had to come sometime, and it came in one very bad week for the Democrats: that the many big problems with Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama finally grew too great for the press to ignore. Obama in his own different way is heading towards Nixon-like levels of weirdness, as, beaten down by the failures regarding his ventures, he appears to have quit his own job. A.B. Stoddard of the Hill says in effect he has stopped being president and chooses to live in a world of his own, shutting out the problems that have become overwhelming, giving dinners where he talks

Attorney General Eric Holder encouraged Americans not to forget race while working for justice and equality in their country. “As it stands, our society is not yet color blind -- nor should it be -- given the disparities that still afflict and divide us.” Holder explained, “We must be color brave, and we must never forget that all are made better and more prosperous if all are given equal opportunities.” Holder made his remarks during a speech at Howard University on Tuesday for the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the Civil Rights Act. “We must take into account not only the
