White House Updating Online Privacy Policy
Associated Press, by Martha Mendoza

A new Obama administration privacy policy released Friday explains how the government will gather the user data of online visitors to WhiteHouse.gov, mobile apps and social media sites, and it clarifies that online comments, whether tirades or tributes, are in the open domain. "Information you choose to share with the White House (directly and via third party sites) may be treated as public information," the new policy says. The Obama Administration also promises not to sell the data of online visitors. But it cannot make the same assurances for users who go to third-party White House sites on Facebook, Twitter or Google

If Obama says your information will be kept private, rest assured the opposite will be the new normal.

Spacey´s selfie creates political

- It seemed innocent enough: two famous men running into each other at a public event by coincidence, exchanging pleasantries and small talk, and posing for a selfie later posted on Twitter. But the meeting between "House of Cards" actor Kevin Spacey and Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto this month in Cancún is at the center of a political controversy in Mexico that caught both the Hollywood star and Mexican government by surprise. Spacey, who plays a president on the Netflix series, posted the selfie with the Mexican leader on May 7. "1 President is real. W/Pres Nieto in #Mexico. Good

New Mexico ranchers are plenty mad over the U.S. Forest Service’s refusal to open a gate blocking their cattle from reaching water, but all sides say they are working hard to avoid an armed showdown reminiscent of Nevada’s Bundy ranch skirmish any time soon. But that doesn’t mean a resolution will be easy or that the pressure on the local officials at the center of the clash is any less. And still standing are the metal fences and locked gates along the banks of the Agua Chiquita, put up by the Forest Service to keep local cattle out. The federal government says

Obama Let the VA Scandal

The president spoke out forcefully on the VA scandal that’s blamed for dozens of deaths. But his words came too late; this is now a spectacle and a political circus. President Obama sounded resolute Wednesday addressing the secret waiting lists at VA hospitals, until you noticed the caveats that hung off nearly every line.(Snip)For weeks, the White House largely left the VA to deal with this problem on its own. The VA’s response was to insist that no conclusions could be drawn until investigations were complete. In other words: despite the years-long history of warnings about the wait list buildup

Bill and Hillary Clinton spent the final years of the Clinton presidency cash-strapped and buried in legal debts. But they weren´t hurting for long: In her final days as first lady, Hillary landed a near-record $8 million advance for her memoir Living History, and by the time her 2008 presidential campaign was in full swing, the Clintons were flush, together having earned $109 million in the previous seven years. When she left her position as secretary of state in February 2013, she had for the first time in decades something unusual: time off. She had a year or two to

The Obama administration has quietly adjusted key provisions of its signature healthcare law to potentially make billions of additional taxpayer dollars available to the insurance industry if companies providing coverage through the Affordable Care Act lose money. The move was buried in hundreds of pages of new regulations issued late last week. It comes as part of an intensive administration effort to hold down premium increases for next year, a top priority for the White House as the rates will be announced ahead of this fall´s congressional elections. Administration officials for months have denied charges by opponents that they plan a "bailout"

An employee of the Democratic Party of Oregon was the first person to request the April 2013 police report of timber baron Andrew Miller accusing Republican Senate candidate Monica Wehby of "stalking" him after a break-up. Jon Friedman, who listed a Northeast Portland address, requested the report from Portland police on April 17, 2014, documents obtained by The Oregonian through a public records request show. Friedman did not immediately return a message seeking comment Monday. Friedman works as a research assistant for the Democratic Party of Oregon, said Jamal Raad, party spokesman. President Obama will break his silence on the Veterans Affairs scandal, planning to make a public statement at the White House on Wednesday morning after meeting with embattled Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki. Obama plans to speak at 10:45 a.m. ET from the briefing room. The president has faced criticism for staying silent as allegations mounted that veterans died while waiting for care, and VA workers misrepresented treatment information -- and for rebuffing calls for the secretary to resign. But the controversy is expanding, and there were a string of meetings planned for Wednesday morning. Obama was meeting with Shinseki

Yes, he really did say that Republicans aren’t American. And that they should stay away from the United States, and go to Russia where they belong. One gets the feeling that if the Democrats

While the Federal Bureau of Investigation´s interest in the exchange debacle had been previously reported, the legal demands dated May 13 indicate things may have moved beyond a preliminary inquiry to a full-blown investigation. The national scandal and disgrace at the VA (Department of Veterans Affairs) is the perfect example of the disaster that awaits America with ObamaCare. We´re about to find out what it´s like to receive health care from the government. The VA scandal is proof that with government in charge of health care, it will bankrupt the entire country. Countless Americans will die through bureaucratic incompetence, neglect, long waiting lists and fraud. Just like what our veterans have already experienced. Sadly, the VA scandal is nothing new. WASHINGTON -- Tuesday´s elections are the best evidence yet that Republicans are avoiding previous mistakes and improving their chances of controlling the Senate during President Barack Obama´s final two years in office. GOP voters again chose solidly conservative nominees while rejecting the most extreme and outlandish types who led the party to painful losses in 2010 and 2012. The simple way to view this year´s results, thus far, is to say "establishment" Republicans are outperforming tea party insurgents. That´s largely true. But it blurs the extent to which nearly all Republican candidates - including some who have been in Congress for decades

Republicans’ hopes of winning back the Senate received a big boost in primary elections Tuesday, with Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.) easily winning and other candidates favored by the party establishment beating back tea party challengers. After years of intraparty turmoil that cost Republicans key races, voters this year are coalescing around the GOP’s strongest candidates ahead of November’s general election, when control of the Senate during President Obama’s final two years in office will be up for grabs. On Tuesday, the most consequential day of voting so far this year, Democrats were left disappointed. GOP Senate candidates prone to
