Vice President Joe Biden joined the popular photo-sharing website Instagram on Wednesday, posting photos of himself in Pittsburgh for a speech about job-training grants and his first selfie with President Obama. "Found a friend to join my first selfie on Instagram. Thanks for following and stay tuned. –VP," read the caption for the photo of Biden and Obama in what appears to be the back of a motorcade. Boston Red Sox baseball player David Ortiz snapped a selfie with Obama at a White House event and tweeted it to his followers earlier this month. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has had a rough time of it ever since she asserted that both she and her husband were “dead broke” and “struggled” after leaving the White House in 2001. “A few weeks before they left the White House, the Clintons were able to muster a cash down payment of $855,000 and secure a $1.995 million mortgage,” Politifact observed. “This hardly fits the common meaning of ‘dead broke.’” Clinton might have taken the public backlash over this minor gaffe in stride, but she didn’t. Speaking with The Guardian over the weekend, Clinton again reasserted her credentials on

Jackson, Mississippi -- Lifelong Democrat Jackie Bland is doing something she never thought she´d do: Urge people to vote for a Republican. Bland supports Thad Cochran, a six-term Mississippi senator who´s trying to fend off a fierce tea party challenge to his seat from Chris McDaniel as voting got underway in Tuesday´s primary runoff. Two weeks ago, Bland helped put up 5,000 pro-Cochran posters in black communities and talk to people about his record. "We wanted to raise the awareness to African-Americans that we do have a stake in this runoff election," she said. She pointed to Cochran´s efforts to secure federal funds for

Sarah Palin joined Sean Hannity to weigh in on the latest election news, and Palin told Hannity that it would be hard for her to stay with the Republicans and get excited about them if they continue acting like Democrats and rolling over. She took a shot at the “status quo” politics of people like Senator Thad Cochran and said the Eric Cantor upset shows people want strong constitutionalists in power who don’t represent “the man [or] the establishment” in Washington. Hannity asked Palin if she would actually follow through on her previous hints she’d go third party. Palin replied, “If Republicans

Former President Bill Clinton has been busy writing “playbooks” for his wife, Hillary, to use in her likely 2016 presidential campaign including how to “take maximum advantage of my death," according to a new book out Monday. In Edward Klein´s “Blood Feud: The Clintons vs. The Obamas,” the former president is quoted suggesting that his death and subsequent state funeral would help elect Hillary Clinton. He said it would be “worth a couple of million votes.” In the epilogue of his book, provided to Secrets, Klein quotes Bill Clinton complaining that the Hillary Clinton for President campaign in 2008 started too late.

If Hillary Clinton ends up running for president again, she´ll have a roaring pop star in her court. Katy Perry offered to contribute to Clinton´s potential campaign in a very big way after the two met at a book signing for the former Secretary of State´s memoir "Hard Choices." "I told (Hillary Clinton) that I would write her a ´theme´ song if she needs it," Perry, 29, wrote Friday on Instagram, sharing a photo of them posing with the book. Clinton, 66, accepted the "Firework" singer´s offer with a pun-filled tweet in response.

House Majority Leader-elect Rep. He stated that was surprised by Cantor’s defeat, and did say that “all politics are local” when asked why he thought Cantor lost. WASHINGTON — Democratic U.S. lawmakers announced legislation on Monday that would provide lawyers for thousands of undocumented minors streaming across the border into the United States, saying forcing children to face deportation proceedings alone goes against fundamental American values. "It is a fantasy to believe that they have a fair shot in immigration proceedings without counsel," New York U.S. Representative Hakeem Jeffries told a news conference. Jeffries and the other House of Representatives Democrats introducing the bill said as many as 40 to 50 percent of the undocumented children would have legitimate claims to remain in the United States under current law,

After the shellacking the RINO segment of the RNC took last week with Eric Cantor’s defeat, one would think they might get the message that voters are sick to death of the business-as-usual tactics. Sadly it seems – they have not. From all indications, the RNC simply does not care if their anointed candidates are the most popular, most experienced, or best qualified. All that seems to matter is picking the guy or gal who’ll do the RNC’s (mostly liberal) bidding, even if that means working to destroy a solid conservative in the process. Typical of their low-life tactics is the

The emails, covering the period January 2009 to April 2011, belonged to embattled former official Lois Lerner and could shed light on whether an expansive scheme to single out conservative groups for special scrutiny was guided by members of Congress or administration officials outside the IRS. ´The committee requested all of Lois Lerner’s emails over a year ago,´ said House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. Noted management expert and Internal Revenue Service Commissioner John Koskinen was apparently called out of retirement — like the Ted Williams of evasive, unapologetic bureaucrats — to destroy what is left of his agency’s credibility. At immediate issue is two years of subpoenaed e-mails from former IRS official Lois Lerner to outside agencies, lost in a convenient computer crash. The possible involvement of other agencies is one focus of a congressional investigation into the heightened IRS scrutiny of conservative nonprofit groups before the 2012 election. In recent congressional testimony, Koskinen admitted that the e-mails

There are times that I have senior moments and forget certain names and events but after the recent Obama Iraq war implosion, I´m convinced most political pundits are suffering from them as well. What is unusual is that this revision of history is being committed by conservatives who should know better. Recent commentary by Glenn Beck, George Will and Charles Krauthammer indicate that they have significant memory lapses about why we went to war in Iraq. They now suggest that it was a wrong decision whereas my complaint is that we took too long to invade and oust Saddam Hussein.

He made the remark at the end of a talk at the White House Summit on Working Families. “Somebody asked: ‘Well, it’s well-known that women are more likely to vote for Democrats,’ to which I said, women are smarter,” Obama said. “This is true.” The rest of Obama’s talk centered on paid maternity leave, a minimum wage of $10.10, flexibility in the workplace, and access to childcare. He blamed Congress for moving slowly after he asked it to raise the minimum wage and when

US Secretary of State John Kerry has arrived in Iraq´s capital, Baghdad as Sunni insurgents expand their control of towns across north-western Iraq. In Egypt on Sunday, Mr Kerry warned that Sunni militants Isis´ "ideology of violence and repression is a threat not only to Iraq but to the entire region". On Sunday rebels--spearheaded by Isis militants--captured border crossings to Syria and Jordan. The strategically important airport in the northern Tal Afar has also fallen. The town controls the main road from the Syrian border to Mosul, Iraq´s second biggest city, which was captured by the rebels two weeks ago.

In this case, the bear in question is President Barack Obama, who has lately been comparing his yearnings to escape the White House security bubble to an animal breaking free from his cage.
