Republican presidential hopefuls
steer clear of Nevada ranch fight

The Hill [Washington, DC], by Timothy Cama

Original Article

Posted By:KarenJ1, 4/17/2014 1:10:36 PM

GOP presidential hopefuls are largely steering clear of Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy’s fight with the federal government. The showdown, which left armed militia members and feds staring each other down last week, has captivated talk radio and cable news shows, turning Bundy into a conservative cause célèbre. Yet Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) and Mike Huckabee, a former Arkansas governor and 2008 presidential candidate, are the only big-name Republicans to have spoken out on the dispute so far. Tea Party favorite Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) has been silent, and Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) have also not

Comments:
I can´t believe even Ted Cruz wouldn´t comment. When the going gets tough and it´s time to defend Americans from the crushing abuse of power by the government the Republicans are no where to be found. If only Obama, Reid and the rest of his regime were as forceful in defending the borders against illegals entering this country!! They all the Border Patrol to use bean bags. What a contrast to what they did in Nevada. How about a few of those snipers sent down to Texas to eliminate those drug cartels??

The silence from Sarah Palin is profound. Why wasn´t she the first in line to defend Bundy, if he is indeed a patriot and a hero?

OP, I am surprised and dismayed by Cruz´ silence too. Perhaps if we email his office? As for the others, naturally the GOP runs from any fight. This issue is tailor-made, a gift, a freebie TOSSED right to any candidate who says he cares about American freedom. The Republicans are nowheresville as well when it comes to standing with the Pelletier family as their child is literally kidnapped by the state.

Start with the water rights act of 1866.
Move on to
The Rule of Law
10th Amendment States Rights
limited government
Out of control big government
that wants to protect endangered desert tortoises
by euthanizing them
finish up with the corrupt Reid Chinese connection

This stuff writes itself if you pay attention...

They´re being wise. This case is so convoluted and so volatile, there´s not really a good side to come down on. It would be difficult to defend Mr. Bundy´s neglect of his lease and refusal to obey the court orders. But, clearly, the BLM scared everyone to death. The safest opinion would be that the government owns too danged much land.

Mark Steyn just brought it up while hosting Rush´s show today - but not Rush.

I have clung to Rush´s every word for 25+ years, but unless he has some whopper of an excuse for his silence, my time will be better spent elsewhere. How is this different (except more important) than Obama staying silent when the Iranian people were rising up?

Regardless of what "side" you come down on, it is very apparent now to everyone why all these bureaus of the government have sniper teams, guns and ammunition.

Folks, it is not to defend this country from invaders. It is to use them against the American public...and where is the House of Representative, defunding each and every department of this government, beside the REAL military from having these para military groups?? They are to control, intimidate and kill their fellow Americans...and our representatives let this continue.

Its pretty easy for us to shoot from the hip here on these anonymous forums -- we don´t have to be right about what we say nor is it likely anything we say could escalate the situation to the point where people are being killed. Any of the people named in the story don´t have that luxury.

Its possible Timothy Cama is an agent provacteur trying to gen up dissension among our ranks. Why no mention of Dims response (other than Reid)?

Rush is silent. Cruz is silent. Palin is silent. Looking forward to the excuse.

Has there been any comment from the Arizona Senators or California Senators-----they hold elected office as well as Lee and Cruz. If Gov. Palin were to comment it would be the same old stuff of who in the h.e.l.l. does she think she is; she doesn´t hold elective office. Shouldn´t the Senators from Arizona be standing up for their constituent instead of big government (the BLM)?

I think it is part of his calculation at what will give him the biggest radio audience. Which if that´s the case I´ll accept it. For the things he talks about, the biggest audience he can inform is a good thing.

Many Republicans are afraid to say too much because they have always been law-abiding citizens, or claim to be. I have always obeyed the laws too, but I am clearly on Bundy´s side on this. I have lived in Nevada for 40 plus years and know how dirty Harry Reid is. Many people are only reading the headlines saying Bundy is breaking the law and won´t pay the million dollars, blah, blah, blah. There is so much more to this.

There are probably at least three factors that are contributing to the current influx of unaccompanied minors at the border. Let´s consider them using some charts on the basic data. Before we get started on the factors, let´s note that everyone agrees the number of minors at the border has been roughly doubling every year since about 2011. This helpful chart comes from this report. It´s also important to note that this surge is not coming from Mexico but from countries in Central America. These are FY13 figures, the last complete year, but reports indicate FY14 figures are probably very
