U.S. Troop Reduction in Europe Has
NATO Commander Calling for ‘Pause’

NATO announced Wednesday that it is enhancing its military footprint on its eastern flank, and the alliance’s top military commander in Europe hinted that in light of Russia’s recent aggression, it is “important that we take a pause and determine what is appropriate for [the size of] U.S. forces in Europe.” The number of U.S. troops in Europe has dropped dramatically since the Soviet Union collapsed. More recently, the Obama administration has touted its “pivot” to Asia. Supreme Allied Commander Europe Gen. Philip Breedlove, a U.S. Air Force general, was asked if the number of U.S. forces stationed in Europe should

That´s nice, General, but you´re a little late to the party. The numbers quoted in the article soften the impact of the decline of combat units since it states total number of military personnel across all services.

Here´s the real deal from the Army standpoint. From two full mechanized corps during the Cold War to two combat brigades. How does a "pause" solve this problem, again? Like maybe a pause would temporarily slow the reduction to zero? Yup, the Russians must be quaking in their boots.

The last pivot to Asia was Clinton´s in 1993...Which helped lead to Mogadishu/the USS Cole/9-11, etc...pivot to Asia means we are going to reduce our defences...always has always will..Obama pivots while the world "burns"

A pivot to Asia has two steps:
1. Reduce troops in Europe.
2. Increase troops in Eastern Hemisphere.

He did step 1.
He skipped step 2.

But from observing his statements before his Presidency one should not be surprised at this course of action.

Most states remain at a loss for jobs

WASHINGTON– Five years after the Great Recession officially ended, most states still haven’t regained all the jobs they lost, even though the nation as a whole has. In May, the overall economy finally recovered all 9 million jobs that vanished in the worst downturn since the 1930s. Another month of solid hiring is expected in the U.S. jobs report for June that will be released today. Yet 32 states still have fewer jobs than when the recession began in December 2007 – evidence of the unevenness and persistently slow pace of the recovery. Even though economists declared the recession over

Sen. Thad Cochran’s (R-MS) top campaign operatives hung up on numerous members of the national media after a press conference call Wednesday. The call was intended to rebut state Sen. Chris McDaniel’s campaign’s allegations of voter fraud in Mississippi’s GOP primary runoff. Instead, it turned into a circus. “Quick question,” an unidentified man interrupted senior Cochran campaign adviser Austin Barbour on the press call. “You’ll have an opportunity to ask a question at the end of the call,” Barbour fired back. “Listen, I will give everyone an opportunity to ask a question when we get through. President Obama doesn’t plan to accept an invitation from Texas Gov. The former first lady of the Philippines Imelda Marcos celebrated her 85th birthday today by paying a solemn visit to the body of her husband. Mrs Marcos visited the crypt of former president Ferdinand Marcos in Ilocos Norte in the north of the country and even kissed the glass coffin where his body lays in a white jacket, ceremonial sash and polished medals. The former leader of the Philippines has remained unburied since his death in 1989 and has lay in a temperature-controlled mausoleum since 1993. This Independence Day weekend, drivers won´t see any relief from high gas prices. In its monthly gas price report released June 30, AAA said, "With Independence Day only a few days away, today´s national average price of gas is $3.68 per gallon. On this day in 1776, the Declaration of Independence was signed and the door to the United States of America opened even wider. Nobler pens than mine have graced this event with prose, but I think it is worthwhile to reflect that however impossible the American Dream might seem to us today, it seemed a great deal less plausible to the Founding Fathers then. I defer to John Adams, who penned the following letter (shown here in part) to his wife, Abigail, describing the tumultuous events he helped orchestrate. Adams´s view that July 2 would be a day of celebration

Americans are in a period of amazingly negative thinking about the state of our country. A recent Gallup analysis drove home how deep and how threatening the current mood is. Gallup asked Americans in early June how much confidence they had in our nation´s institutions. The answer: not much. Only 30% had "a great deal" or "quite a lot of confidence" in the Supreme Court. Just 29% felt that way about the presidency. And an abysmal 7% had faith in the Congress. Think about what this means. Our most trusted national institution, the unelected Supreme Court, has the confidence of

Reverend Steve Fielder, a pastor at the First Union Missionary Baptist Church in Meridian, Mississippi, has accused Mississippi Senator Thad Cochran’s campaign of engaging in an illegal and criminal campaign scheme to purchase the votes of black community members. The suspect votes were cast during Cochran’s successful effort to defeat Tea Party challenger Chris McDaniel in the Mississippi Republican primary run-off held last week. If true, such an action would be clearly illegal under both federal law and Mississippi statutes, specifically MS Code 97-13-1; MS Code 97-13-3 (2013) (Federal Code 18 U.S.C. 597, U.S.C. 1973i(c)), each punishable by a prison
