Eric Holder wants $15M to

WASHINGTON — In wake of two mass shootings this month, Attorney General Eric Holder urged Congress Tuesday to authorize $15 million for training state and local law enforcement officers to confront so-called active shooters. "In the face of this urgent and growing threat – when the lives of innocent people are at stake – those who stand on the front lines need our full and unwavering support," Holder said in a video message posted on the Justice Department´s website. "This critical funding would help the Justice Department ensure that America´s police officers have the tools and guidance they need to

Don´t let a good crisis go to waste.

Why do I get the feeling this money will be spent sending administrators to Las Vegas?

Wait, don´t the police already have training against "active shooters"? Isn´t that the whole purpose of them carrying guns? I agree with #1. Holder needs it for something else. Besides, $15 million for all police nationwide? Even if there were a need for it, which there is not, that wouldn´t be enough.

After several of the shootings, the law enforcement personnel were trained to go in and engage rather than wait outside to see what would happen.

This is money wasted on something else.

How about concealed carry?
The lesson of VMI, Navy Yard, Fort Hood (twice), Connecticut, etc is this: no one can stop a shooting gun man except another person with a gun.
No Federal money needed.
Let folks defend themselves.
I suppose this is unacceptable, because the BLM would not be able to take over any more ranches for Sen Reid to sell to the Commies.
Sigh.

So true #1. If law enforcement isn`t or hasn`t already trained for such outbreaks, where have they been? $15 mil seems like such a small amount if it were divided between 50 states. Also, wouldn`t the `newly trained` officers have to be at the scene of a mass shooting to be effective?

Conceal carry by an armed citizenry would be so much more effective at minimizing mass shooting outbreaks.

From Wiki:

In 2008, state and local law enforcement agencies employed more than 1.1 million persons on a full-time basis, including about 765,000 sworn personnel* (defined as those with general arrest powers).

$15,000,000/765,000 = $19.61 per sworn officer.

This proposal is a joke on so many levels. And besides, most LE agencies already provide training on active shooter situations, and have since the Columbine shootings in 1999.

WASHINGTON– Five years after the Great Recession officially ended, most states still haven’t regained all the jobs they lost, even though the nation as a whole has. In May, the overall economy finally recovered all 9 million jobs that vanished in the worst downturn since the 1930s. Another month of solid hiring is expected in the U.S. jobs report for June that will be released today. Yet 32 states still have fewer jobs than when the recession began in December 2007 – evidence of the unevenness and persistently slow pace of the recovery. Even though economists declared the recession over

On this day in 1776, the Declaration of Independence was signed and the door to the United States of America opened even wider. Nobler pens than mine have graced this event with prose, but I think it is worthwhile to reflect that however impossible the American Dream might seem to us today, it seemed a great deal less plausible to the Founding Fathers then. I defer to John Adams, who penned the following letter (shown here in part) to his wife, Abigail, describing the tumultuous events he helped orchestrate. Adams´s view that July 2 would be a day of celebration

Mrs. Obama went to the annual meeting of the American School Counselor Association in Florida to thank counselors for taking on a demanding job without the resources necessary to meet the challenges. Americans are in a period of amazingly negative thinking about the state of our country. A recent Gallup analysis drove home how deep and how threatening the current mood is. Gallup asked Americans in early June how much confidence they had in our nation´s institutions. The answer: not much. Only 30% had "a great deal" or "quite a lot of confidence" in the Supreme Court. Just 29% felt that way about the presidency. And an abysmal 7% had faith in the Congress. Think about what this means.
