Bloomberg Plans a $50 Million
Challenge to the N.R.A.

New York Times, by Jeremy W. Peters

Original Article

Posted By:KarenJ1, 4/16/2014 11:02:07 AM

Michael R. Bloomberg, making his first major political investment since leaving office, plans to spend $50 million this year building a nationwide grass-roots network to motivate voters who feel strongly about curbing gun violence, an organization he hopes can eventually outmuscle the National Rifle Association. Mr. Bloomberg, the former mayor of New York, said gun control advocates need to learn from the N.R.A. and punish those politicians who fail to support their agenda — even Democrats whose positions otherwise align with his own. “They say, ‘We don’t care. We’re going to go after you,’ ” he said of the N.R.A.

Good luck with that! He might as well put that $50 million on a fireplace and burn it up. That money sure could have been better spent.

Well at least it will be a grass-root group, just like the 99% that was made up out of less than 1%.

If you have to spend $50 million to get it off the ground, it´s not a "grassroots" movement. In fact, does the left have any grassroots movements at all? They pretend they do, but they all seem to be managed from behind the scenes in the shadows.

How smart is it to go after an organization whose members are 100% gun owners and many of us in the class of weapons expert? Think it over, Mikey. You and your weenie brigade will not win this one or even make a dent in your invented "problem." Even the almighty bat-eared messiah backed down from his assault on the Second Amendment.

Grassroots?? I think not.

A prime example of "A fool and his money are soon parted!"

I am all in for World Peace but contrary to some thinking on that subject, a peaceful person must retain the strength to inhibit the tendency in some circles to bully their neighbors. And to show the bullies they will not be successful if they continue their disruptive ways.

Bloomberg. A perfect example of a bully with more money than sense.

President Obama gave a pep talk to Senate Democrats over drinks at the White House this week, telling them a rising economy and ObamaCare’s healthy numbers should give them optimism about keeping their majority in November. Democrats are nervous about losing control of the Senate because of Obama’s low approval ratings and Republican success in recruiting candidates and beating back the Tea Party. Obama sought to cheer them up at Wednesday night’s meeting, several sources said. Unlike the last time the president hosted a reception for Democratic senators, he served them drinks and food as soon as they arrived instead

Exactly one year after the Senate passed an immigration reform bill that built a compromise on an exchange of increased enforcement for legalization for the 11 million, Republicans have now officially abandoned any pretense of a willingness to participate in solving the immigration crisis. Instead, they have committed the party to a course premised on two intertwined notions: There are no apparent circumstances under which they can accept legalization of the 11 million; and as a result, the only broad response to the crisis they can countenance is maximum deportations. This means it’s now all in Obama’s hands to decide what

More and more people are finally coming to the realization that President Obama is presiding over America´s decline, though there are differences of opinion as to whether he´s deliberately or even directly causing it. You have to admit that it´s outright bizarre and alarming that people are even having this discussion, yet many of us have been warning about it for years now. It is gratifying that others — albeit belatedly — are waking up. There are two separate issues: Is Obama trying to bring America down, and is his presidency falling apart (and what does that mean)? I’m sorry, what? WASHINGTON — President Obama on Thursday requested $500 million from Congress to train and equip what the White House is calling “appropriately vetted” members of the Syrian opposition. The request comes as the administration is trying to put some form to the president’s surprise announcement last month of plans for a $5 billion counterterrorism fund to provide training for operations in vulnerable countries in the Middle East. The training program would be the most significant action yet by the United States in the conflict in Syria, which has spilled over the border now to Iraq, where a

Immigration activists plan to occupy House office buildings on Friday to protest GOP positions on illegal immigration. United We Dream, a youth-led group that supports expanding protection for illegal immigrants, announced members would protest inside the Rayburn House Office Building at 12:30 p.m. The group said it would target members from Arizona, California, Maryland, New Mexico, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Texas, Tennessee, Wisconsin, Washington and Virginia. The group did not include a list of specific lawmakers. The House is not in session on Friday, however, and most lawmakers have returned to their home districts for the July 4 recess. Eventually, she lost her case. At one point Lerner even asked a targeted conservative if Pat Robertson prayed over him. (Sound familiar?) In 1996, while at the FEC, Lois Lerner harassed Republican Senate candidate Al Salvi and made him this outrageous offer, “Promise me you will never run for office again, and

Republicans are in the strongest position to win back the Senate since losing it eight years ago. Over several months, the party has expanded its range of targeted seats, and the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) has helped defeat insurgents it didn’t want representing the GOP in the midterm elections. This sober realization came to Democrats on Wednesday, as Tuesday night’s primary results showed they cannot count on Tea Party candidates upsetting more-electable incumbents. And Democrats are increasingly realizing that President Obama’s approval rating will probably remain mired at 45 percent or lower until

Decades of socialist/progressive indoctrination in our schools, media, and culture, plus six years of Obama, have yielded a devastating unspoken consequence. It is the loss of who we use to be as Americans. In his 1961 Inaugural Address, President John F. Kennedy said, “My fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country.” Democrats have perverted Kennedy´s inspiring challenge. Their dispiriting goal is to have as many Americans as possible controlled by and dependent on government, even for life itself, which is at the root of ObamaCare.
