SF Supe Breed: fix public housing for homeless
SFGate, by Marisa Lagos

Original Article

Supervisor London Breed plans to announce legislation Tuesday afternoon that would earmark $2.6 million to rehabilitate 172 public housing units that are currently too run down for people to live in - housing she wants to be used for homeless families. Breed is asking the city to spend the money immediately and outside the normal budget process - and possibly to circumvent federal housing law, which requires hopeful public housing residents to be called off a wait list that has been full, and closed, for years.

Here´s a novel idea - how about holding the tenants responsible for damages to the units? You know, that word that strikes fear deep into the stony little heart of a libtard - responsibility.

Let´s make sure all the homeless people in other parts of the country know how well they´ll get treated in San Francisco. Give them your tired, your poor, your mentally ill, and drug addicted freaks. Thank you so much San Francisco for being a dumping ground. Don´t worry, I´m sure your city has plenty of rich people who will be only too glad to pay even more in taxes for every dim witted idea you foist.

Worth reading to see an incredible bureaucratic mess well described. And comments after the original article.

That constant adjustment of the waiting list means one thing; you need a connection in city government. Otherwise you wait forever.

Kith and kin of city workers and politicians probably have no problems. Who doesn´t have a niece or nephew a little short of income?

And Ms. Breed doesn´t even pretend she wants to use that waiting list.

Many of the homeless want to stay homeless because they are mentally ill or drug users.
They found out more people throw money at the homeless.

In the meantime, the elderly and disabled may wait over two years on a list.

One building here for low income seniors suddenly changed to non-Englist speakers some years back.

Gabe Luddy, fourth-generation cheesemaker at Vella Cheese Co. in Sonoma, makes his Dry Jack the same way his grandfather and great-grandfather did - he rolls and presses curds into large wheels of cheese, then brines and coats the wheels before sliding them onto wooden racks. There they age, from seven months to several years. A U.S. Food & Drug Administration statement that became public last week puts Vella's 83-year-old practice in doubt. In what the agency called a clarification, the FDA declared that wooden racks similar to the one Vella uses "cannot be adequately cleaned and sanitized."

San Leandro police are creating a task force to tackle recent cases of “wilding,” robberies and other attacks said to be committed by large groups of people, including an incident in which a group briefly tried to take a car with a 2-year-old child inside, officials said. Police said there have been at least three incidents in the city over the past month in which mobs of assailants have targeted victims for their cell phones, electronics, expensive sneakers and other property.

One of the odder stats of Election Night: As of Wednesday morning, 287,590 Californians had cast ballots for indicted state Sen. Leland Yee for secretary of state. That’s good for nearly 10 percent of the vote. That’s also more votes than five other secretary of state candidates who haven’t been indicted received. Never mind for a second that the San Francisco Democrat has been indicted on multiple federal money laundering and weapons charges. Yee DROPPED OUT of the race in March. Folks were voting for an indicted man who didn’t even want their votes. On a largely sleepy election night, the Twittersphere was full of tweets

It´s a fact of American life that a good share of the electorate is disappointed, disapproving and even disdainful of President Obama. What´s less certain are the reasons why. For some Democrats, the explanation is simple: race. In recent weeks, West Virginia Sen. Jay Rockefeller, Mississippi Rep. Bennie Thompson and former Florida Gov. Charlie Crist have all said racism is the driving force behind Republican resistance to the president. Republicans, unsurprisingly, say their disdain for Obama is based not on the color of his skin, but on the content of his policies. "If any white Democrat had pushed through a billion-dollar stimulus

A government-contracted security force threatened to arrest doctors and nurses if they divulged any information about the contagion threat at a refugee camp housing illegal alien children at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, sources say. In spite of the threat, several former camp workers broke their confidentiality agreements and shared exclusive details with me about the dangerous conditions at the camp. They said taxpayers deserve to know about the contagious diseases and the risks the children pose to Americans. I have agreed to not to disclose their identities because they fear retaliation and prosecution.

A crowd of 300 angry protestors forced three buses carrying 140 undocumented migrant children and their parents to turn around in Murrieta, California, on Tuesday after they blocked the road. The dramatic confrontation between the flag waving protestors and the Homeland Security buses came one day after Mayor Alan Long urged residents to resist the federal government´s plan to transfer the Central American migrants to California to ease overcrowding of facilities along the Texas-Mexico border. Holding up banners that said ´Return to Sender´ and suggesting the children should be sent to the White House instead, the irate protestors succeeded when the buses

The Israeli Air Force carried out what it called "precision strikes" on 34 "terror targets" in the Gaza Strip overnight, after the discovery of the bodies of three Israeli teenagers who were kidnapped in the West Bank earlier this month. The Israeli Defense Forces said the strikes were in response to rockets being launched earlier into Israel from Gaza. The waves of rockets from Gaza and IDF retaliations have picked up since the teens were kidnapped and the Israeli crackdown began. Hamas has not claimed responsibility for launching the rockets but Israel holds them responsible for everything coming out of Gaza. The Israel Defense

WASHINGTON – Republicans see the November midterm elections as an opportunity to take the nation on a different path and call for a new conservative message focusing on the problems of regular Americans. During the latest convention of conservative activist Ralph Reed’s Faith and Freedom Coalition in Washington, D.C., Republicans confidently proclaimed that the GOP has an opportunity to turn back the past six years of President Obama’s administration in the midterm elections. “There’s only one thing to be done in 2014…and that is to take back America by taking back the Senate,” Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said

The photo drew attention after Jarrett´s "Meet the Press" interview Sunday — and Jarrett posted a tweet Tuesday afternoon assuring her supporters the display was simply a novelty item. "Don´t worry friends, it was a gag gift," Jarrett wrote, pivoting to some White House messaging about the economy. Two Texans may be vying for the Republican presidential nomination in 2016: Sen. Ted Cruz and Governor Rick Perry. Cruz overwhelmingly won the Texas GOP 2016 convention straw poll, confirming his position as the conservative grassroots candidate. He fires up crowds unlike any other politician today, and the power of motivating voters and volunteers should not be underestimated. But will he run in 2016? The signs point to yes. One of his staffers left his office to start a committee to draft him into running. He has visited the early states and spent many weekends during his first 18 months in office raising

The threat of them was an infuriating and exhilarating specter throughout the weekend, a symbol of the oppression facing the men’s rights activists who had gathered to meet for their inaugural conference. The Obama administration is not too concerned about possible Republican responses to its unilateral administrative actions on immigration. “What that they might sue?” White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said laughing when asked Tuesday about possible Republican retaliation for the executive action. “They announced they were doing that last week,” he continued. “So, the prospect that Republicans might do even more to try to obstruct the president’s agenda I think is a little far-fetched. It seems to me they have tried every single thing they can think of already to block progress for this country so the fact that they
