SEIU thinks big for S.F.
city workers´ next contract

San Francisco Chronicle, by Phillip Matier and Andrew Ross

Original Article

Posted By:Ribicon, 4/14/2014 7:08:20 PM

From fighting Google buses to protesting Ellis Act evictions, San Francisco´s 9,475-member Service Employees International Union local has been leading the campaign for a more livable city. Now it´s putting its members´ own economic agenda front and center at City Hall. The SEIU´s proposed new contract with the city includes calls for: -- A 15 percent raise over the next three years. -- A $21-an-hour minimum wage for all city workers. -- Fully paid health coverage for single workers, 98 percent paid coverage for couples and 85 percent coverage for families. -- A free clinic just for city workers to go along

Comments:
Minimum wage of $21/hour, and not $35? Fully paid health coverage instead of requiring participation in Affordable Obamacare? SEUI is not only stingy, but racist, too.

Who is going to pay for these city workers to live in the lap of luxury in a city where nobody can afford to live anymore??? It should be interesting. I loved living there 20 years ago but I cannot afford it now even if I were making anywhere near what I used to. And I worked in Financial Services back then. Who can still afford it? Just the elite lefties I guess. Nobody else...unless you live in a cardboard box or a shanty ghetto in Hunters Point.

I would say SEIU has become a menace; but they crossed that milestone years ago. That union presents a greater and more immediate threat to public safety and personal liberty than most any global enemy.

If SEIU isn´t already levying member dues as a percentage of member income, that´s going to be a high priority of theirs moving forward.

NEW YORK — Target is asking its customers to not bring firearms into its stores, even where it is allowed by law. In a statement posted Wednesday on the retailer´s corporate blog, interim CEO John Mulligan said that Target wants a "safe and inviting" atmosphere for its shoppers and employees. "Bringing firearms to Target creates an environment that is at odds with the family-friendly shopping and work experience we strive to create," he said. As the investigation into the Bourbon Street shooting continued Tuesday, police confirmed that six of the victims were visitors from out of state, including a woman from Australia. NOPD spokeswoman Hilal Williams sent out a press release shortly before 2:30 p.m., which included a change in what authorities had previously said - that six of the victims were women and four were men. But victim nr. 7, who police previously identified as a woman, is in fact a 22-year-old New Orleans man, who was treated and has since been released from the hospital. The wounded included a 21-year-old woman

With its finances in the red and its role sharply curtailed, questions are being raised about the long-term future of the agency that put New Jersey on the map of big-time sports. But no matter what its fate, the hard truth is that the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority, which once netted tens of millions of dollars annually from The Meadowlands Racetrack and Giants Stadium, will likely be a lingering financial liability for state taxpayers. A series of decisions by officials over time have left it marooned, with significant structural costs and little means to pay for them

A small garbage can is filled with water from a neighbor, while a bigger one sits outside in the yard, where she hopes it will collect some rain. She´s developed an intricate recycling system of washing the dishes, cleaning the floor and flushing the toilet with the same water. A government-contracted security force threatened to arrest doctors and nurses if they divulged any information about the contagion threat at a refugee camp housing illegal alien children at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, sources say. In spite of the threat, several former camp workers broke their confidentiality agreements and shared exclusive details with me about the dangerous conditions at the camp. They said taxpayers deserve to know about the contagious diseases and the risks the children pose to Americans. The waves of rockets from Gaza and IDF retaliations have picked up since the teens were kidnapped and the Israeli crackdown began. Hamas has not claimed responsibility for launching the rockets but Israel holds them responsible for everything coming out of Gaza. The Israel Defense
