Obama Generation Losing
Interest in Obama

Wall Street Journal, by James Freeman

Original Article

President Obama inspired a generation of young people to support his historic election in 2008. And in 2012, despite the struggles of his first term, Mr. Obama still managed to win the support of a full 60% of voters age 18-29. But the man who once dreamed of being a transformative leader in the Reagan mold is inspiring few of those young people to follow his lead. "For all the talk about the movement that elected Mr. Obama, the more notable movement of Obama supporters has been away from politics. It appears that few of the young people who voted

"I just don´t see the generation as all that ideological or invested in causes for the long run."

The younger generation is "ideological" without realizing it, their heads filled with everything from manmade global warming to kumbaya. They have experienced little sacrifice, let alone suffering in their lives. It´s tough to convince a 23 year old happy to be living free with mom and dad holding an unmarketable masters degree and $25k student loan debt that "conservatism" is his escape. Liberals will at least offer him a world of free onsies and hot chocolate to cry into.

The Precious and his adoring MSM will not be pleased. I sense an executive order forbidding polls that are unfavorable like these - or perhaps this tidbit will not make the Nightly News with Brian Williams. I am surprised it made the WSJ, one of the most lib papers on the planet except for the editorial page.

He doesn´t need them anymore. He could care less.

He also could care less about the Dem party. Everything in his life is all about him. It is now and always will be.

Can´t wait to see how much of the money raised during his fund raisers actually make it into the Dem campaigns. I wouldn´t be holding my breath if I were them.

They may be losing interest in Obama, but just because what they believe did not materialize will not negate those ideas. Most are still the pie in the sky libs they always were. However, life has a way of changing your thinking when reality slaps you upside the head. The smart ones will put away childish things and move toward common sense conservative principles. There will still be a majority who will find someone to follow who echoes their philosophy and someone will always come along. I do believe, however, many of them have had a premature reality check due to Obama´s failed policies.

I feel a little sorry for some of the kids. Many going to college are encased in a liberal bubble. It is very hard to see reality when all around you is so distorted.

We think of going to college as learning how to think but modern college is more an indoctrination process. You have to wonder if it actually does more damage than good? And we end up paying $100K+ for the privilege of having our kids brainwashed.

Are the kids seeing the failure of BO or seeing the failure of liberal ideas and waking up to the foolishness of some of the "educators" they encountered? Reality is a harsh mistress.

These young college graduates are not poorly educated. They are well educated but they know very little. Able to click up information on a computer is not "education". Being able to sift through that information and find what is gold and what is dross would be, however, this is a skill that they sadly lack.

Talk with them and see how little intelligence they possess. They have made common sense a rare commodity. Thesis and antithesis no longer equal synthesis. They now equal whatever the computer says they equal.

FTA: ...millennials are "the first in the modern era to have higher levels of student loan debt, poverty and unemployment, and lower levels of wealth and personal income than their two immediate predecessor generations (Gen Xers and Boomers) had at the same stage of their life cycles."
Sounds like an opening for an aggressive Republican Party to step in and fill the vacuum. Too bad they won´t.

In going through old e-mails, one of my Michigan friends sent me this a few years ago. I think it is worth passing on as it seems to fit with this article.

This quote came from the Czech Republic. It was translated into English from an article in the Prague newspaper by Prager Zeitungon.

"The danger to America is not Barack Obama, but a citizenry capable of entrusting
a man like him with the Presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies
of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good
judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president.
The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere
symptom of what ails America . Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind
anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The Republic can
survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a
multitude of fools, such as those who made him their president."

College-age kids are not necessarily well-educated... they are well-indoctrinated, propagandized.

The voting age should be raised, not lowered.

Back when the Republic was established, children had responsibilities from a very early age, such as feeding and care of animals, planting and harvesting, learning to handle firearms in order to protect oneself and family and to hunt. Often they´d be responsible --like an adult-- for younger siblings.

Now, children never grow up. Well, of course some do, but these are the ones who have been taught to think, to work, to behave in a civilized manner, and who learn that the world does not and ought not revolve around them.

Therefore, this generation votes for those who promise to meet their "felt needs", for those who will soothe and comfort them, for those who will sound the platitudes and Pollianyas.

So, are they really waking up, or is it a big pout?

With all the toys that are on the market for these younger people to have, computers, cell phones, etc. and that huge amount of video games to play, they have no idea of staking out a career or what they would like to do with their lives. And as such, they are susceptible to follow the next fad at the drop of a hat. They have never been taught to plan ahead and consider all the ins and outs of living in a harsh world. I know that when I was a young man, a man I highly respected told me once something I have never forgotten and taught it to my children. He told me that I needed to decide what I want to do in life and stay with it. I did just that. I went into the electronics business as a technician and spent my entire career doing just that. And I was very happy with my career.

TOPEKA, Kan. — Democratic challenger Paul Davis sought Tuesday to give his campaign for Kansas governor a bipartisan boost by announcing endorsements from more than 100 moderate Republicans who´ve split with conservative GOP Gov. Sam Brownback over education and tax policy. The disaffected Republicans include outgoing Insurance Commissioner Sandy Praeger, three former Kansas Senate presidents and three former Kansas House speakers. More than half are former legislators, and the list includes former U.S. Rep. Jan Meyers, who represented the Kansas City-area 3rd District from 1985 to 1997. They announced that they formed Republicans for Kansas Values because of their concerns about the

The headline from AP certainly is alarming: “100 Kansas GOP endorse Democrat for governor.” And the lead paragraph continues the theme: Democratic challenger Paul Davis sought Tuesday to give his campaign for Kansas governor a bipartisan boost by announcing endorsements from more than 100 moderate Republicans who´ve split with conservative GOP Gov. Sam Brownback over education and tax policy. You might be wondering, to borrow Thomas Frank’s infamous book title, “What’s the matter with Kansas”? I can’t claim to be an expert on the Jayhawker State, but it does appear that this is a matter of sour grapes: Six state senators on

The U.S. deported Honduran children as young as 1-1/2 years old on Monday in the first flight since President Obama pledged to speed up the process of sending back illegal immigrant minors from Central America. Fleeing violence and poverty, record numbers of children from Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala have crossed into the United States over the past year, sparking intense debate about how to solve the problem. Monday´s flight from New Mexico to San Pedro Sula, the city with the highest murder rate in the world, returned 17 Honduran women, as well as 12 girls and nine boys, aged

The Obama administration quietly announced on Tuesday that it intends to change the way Americans learn about natural disasters and other major emergencies during radio and TV broadcasts, giving the president the ability to flip a switch and address the entire nation at once. The Emergency Alert System, the latest version of a program first established in 1951, blasts out emergency messages in the event of local weather emergencies, but can also be used to warn Americans about terror attacks and major natural disasters. In his message to the “Mexico/Holy See Colloquium on Migration and Development,” Pope Francis characterized the tens of thousands of illegal immigrants that have crossed the U.S. southern border as a product of globalization, suggesting that the phenomenon is happening worldwide. Francis proclaimed, “Despite the large influx of migrants present in all continents and in almost all countries, migration is still seen as an emergency, or as a circumstantial and sporadic fact, while instead it has now become a hallmark of our society and a challenge.” Emmer McCarthy for Vatican Radio said Francis expressed his concern for “the tens of thousands of

The First Lady of these United States has declared war on Chick-fil-A. It seems the home of plump juicy breasts and hot buttered buns has run afoul of the new Smart Snacks in School program. The program is a component of Mrs. Obama’s Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010. The new government regulations require snack items served in public schools to have less than two hundred calories. That includes vending machines, lunch rooms and other campus food venues. And that’s really bad news for kids at South Carolina’s Socastee High School. They’ve just learned they will no longer be allowed to buy Chick-fil-A

“Trust” is for Con Men: The reaction to the border chaos in Texas has accomplished one thing: It has exploded the lie at the heart of current “comprehensive” immigration reform plans. The basic structure of those plans is a swap of a) near-immediate legalization for b) increased border security in the future. The appealing idea is to let current illegals stay while taking the steps necessary to prevent further waves. The lie is the assumption that, once current illegals get their legalization, pro-immigrant activists in both parties will continue to support the second half of the bargain, the increased security. Contrary to what those who defend the right to own high-powered assault rifles believe, not all guns are created equal. Due to a combination of availability, portability and criminal usage the following five types of guns are the country's most dangerous. School Shootings: Widely Reported Tragedies Since 2000 - Using firearm trace data from the ATF, as well as FBI homicide records, we determined the types of guns most often recovered from crime scenes and/or used in murders. The numbers are stark: According to the FBI's 2012 Crime in the US data, nearly 70 percent of homicides for which the FBI received weapons data involved the use

John McCain, an immigration hawk. Who knew? Mr. McCain, the highest-profile Republican of the U.S. Senate’s “Gang of Eight” that came up with amnesty as the solution to the immigration crisis — and it truly is a crisis — is finally taking a hard line against President Obama for his encouraging the tidal wave of illegal aliens swamping the southwestern border. “There has to be a halt to this,” Mr. McCain thundered Sunday on CNN. “That’s what we want, and the best way to do that is for planeloads of these young people to be returning to their country of origin

It had to come sometime, and it came in one very bad week for the Democrats: that the many big problems with Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama finally grew too great for the press to ignore. Obama in his own different way is heading towards Nixon-like levels of weirdness, as, beaten down by the failures regarding his ventures, he appears to have quit his own job. A.B. Stoddard of the Hill says in effect he has stopped being president and chooses to live in a world of his own, shutting out the problems that have become overwhelming, giving dinners where he talks

Senate Budget Committee ranking member Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) has warned all of his colleagues in Congress that President Barack Obama’s new immigration strategy—his plans to legalize millions of illegal alien adults through executive power—could destroy America as we know it. “I write to inform you of a development that threatens the foundation of our constitutional Republic,” Sessions, Congress’s top immigration hawk, wrote in a letter that was hand-delivered to all 535 members of Congress on Monday and provided exclusively to Breitbart News. Sessions cites a recent report from the National Journal, in which reporter Major Garrett detailed how, despite the ongoing

Attorney General Eric Holder encouraged Americans not to forget race while working for justice and equality in their country. “As it stands, our society is not yet color blind -- nor should it be -- given the disparities that still afflict and divide us.” Holder explained, “We must be color brave, and we must never forget that all are made better and more prosperous if all are given equal opportunities.” Holder made his remarks during a speech at Howard University on Tuesday for the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the Civil Rights Act. “We must take into account not only the

WASHINGTON — It was an enduring image of his presidency: a chastened Bill Clinton walking his dog while wife Hillary keeps her distance as the family leaves town at the height of the Monica Lewinsky scandal — but it was all part of a contrived public-repentance campaign, according to a new book. With Bill on the skids and his wife’s future prospects on the line, it was necessary for the pubic to see the president being punished, said Weekly Standard online editor Daniel Halper in his new book, “Clinton, Inc.: The Audacious Rebuilding of a Political Machine.” “They understood that
