Is President Obama Appalled
By Claire Shipman, Too?

The Federalist, by Mollie Hemingway

This week, President Obama has tried to rev up his base by flogging an obviously false statistic. It hasn’t gone as well as planned, partly because the media dropped its usual obsequiousness by questioning the assumptions of the claim that women make 77 cents for each dollar earned by men for the same work. Turns out that when you control for different career choices, different hours worked, different amounts of time on the job, the supposed pay gap all but evaporates. It also turns out that the White House has a significant pay gap — they claim it’s for the same reasons

I heard that the custodians in the White House are paid less than the president of the United States, Barack Obama, is paid. Where is the income equality? Barack Obama is stealing from the White House employees.

I want to know if women who play basketball on the national level will demand the same pay as their male counterparts? How about the female coaches. Shouldn´t they make as much as the male coaches? I think all basketball players should be paid the same. It´s only FAIR doncha know! We could really have some fun with this if they keep up the "war on women" spin.

Particularly difficult are the situations where some women employees (guess which demographic) insist upon "flexibility," resulting in fewer average hours in the office and lower productivity, yet also insist upon equal pay, performance reviews and promotions.

A word of advice for male supervisors: Don´t call them on it, unless you are dead certain you have chain of command and HR support.

#4, been there and seen that.

Particularly irksome is the practice that lets some women have flexible schedules but full pay and a career track, while others in the same office are expected to hew to the 9-to-5 schedule. A real morale buster, that.

World Net Daily reported, via Free Republic: The retail giant Costco Wholesale has issued an order to remove all copies of Dinesh D’Souza’s bestselling book, “America: Imagine the World Without Her,” from the shelves of its stores nationwide, WND has confirmed. The book, in this midterm election year, is a strong rebuttal of the progressive ideology behind President Obama’s policies, which have been supported by Costco co-founder and director Jim Sinegal, a major Democrat donor and a speaker at the 2012 Democratic National Convention that nominated the president. A Washington Post political reporter has noted Obama’s “romance” with the nation’s

At the same time the Obama administration once again renewed its Equal Pay push, the White House released salary figures for White House staff. Upon analysis, the Washington Post, among others, concluded that the gender pay gap (as defined by the White House) that has existed since President Obama was elected is as wide as it was in 2009, a thirteen percent difference: The average male White House employee currently earns about $88,600, while the average female White House employee earns about $78,400, according to White House data released Tuesday. That is a gap of 13 percent. In 2009, male employees made

President Barack Obama will head to Texas later this week for Democratic fundraising events in Austin and Dallas, but he will not visit the southern border where unaccompanied minors are streaming across that frontier in record numbers. “Schedules sometimes change and if they do we’ll let you know, but right now there is no plan to visit the border while he’s in Texas,” said White House Press Sec. Josh Earnest last week, bristling over the impertinence of the suggestion that Obama should take time out of his fundraising schedule to see the scale of this emerging refugee crisis for himself.

The Rand Paul–Mike Lee policy partnership has been the most important Republican collaboration in Washington in recent memory. They have tried subtly — and sometimes not so subtly — to change the Republican brand by applying conservative and libertarian principles differently than the party has in the past. The two Tea Party senators have worked together on civil liberties, opposing the Patriot Act, attempting to rein in the National Security Agency, speaking out against extrajudicial killings of American citizens, protesting warrantless searches, and trying to strip indefinite detention from the National Defense Authorization Act. Paul and Lee have also taken the lead

President Obama may have described the waves of tens of thousands of migrant families flooding the southern border as a "humanitarian crisis," but it is a humanitarian crisis entirely of his own creation and one which he could end tomorrow if he wanted to. The Los Angeles Times reports: President Obama and his aides have repeatedly sought to dispel the rumors driving thousands of children and teens from Central America to cross the U.S. border each month with the expectation they will be given a permiso and allowed to stay. But under the Obama administration, those reports have proved increasingly true. The number

President Obama has quietly promised Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren complete support if she runs for president — a stinging rebuke to his nemesis Hillary Clinton, sources tell me. Publicly, Obama has remained noncommittal on the 2016 race, but privately he worries that Clinton would undo and undermine many of his policies. There’s also a personal animosity, especially with Bill Clinton, that dates from their tough race six years ago. A former Harvard law professor and administration aide, Warren would energize the left wing of the Democrat Party just as Obama did against Clinton in 2008. You’ll have a hard time finding any mention of it in the left-wing mainstream media, but last Saturday former U.S. President James Earl Carter flew into the northern Russian city of Murmansk on a Gulfstream private jet for a little luxury fishing expedition (Russian-language link). It seems Mr. Carter would like to do all he can to legitimize Russian aggression in Ukraine, and if he can combine doing so with a gold-plated vacay, so much the better. At almost the same moment, Ukrainian government troops were triumphantly raising the national flag over City Hall in the Eastern Ukraine city of Slaviansk,

MURRIETA, Calif. — Suddenly, this city in the desert has become the place that turned away the immigrants. When the three busloads of immigrant mothers and children rolled into town for processing at a Border Patrol station this week, they were met by protesters carrying American flags and signs proclaiming “return to sender” as they screamed “go home” and chanted “U.S.A.” Fearing for the safety of the migrants and federal officers, immigration officials decided to reroute the buses to San Diego, an hour south. And a day after many here celebrated what they saw as a temporary victory, more than a thousand

The Declaration of Independence is the birth certificate of the American nation—the first public document ever to use the name "the United States of America"—and has been fundamental to American history longer than any other text. It enshrined what came to be seen as the most succinct and memorable statement of the ideals on which the U.S. was founded: the rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness; the consent of the governed; and resistance to tyranny. But the Declaration´s influence wasn´t limited to the American colonies of the late 18th century. No American document has had a greater impact

Sarah Palin on Tuesday joined a growing chorus of Republicans calling for the impeachment of President Obama, writing in a Breitbart op-ed that the influx of young illegal immigrants over the southern border "is the last straw that makes the battered wife say, ´no mas.´ " Mixed/careless metaphors aside, this is nothing but bad news for Republicans — especially four months until the 2014 election. Enough is enough of the years of abuse from this president. His unsecured border crisis is the last straw that makes the battered wife say, “no mas.” Without borders, there is no nation. Obama knows this. Opening our borders to a flood of illegal immigrants is deliberate. This is his fundamental transformation of America. It’s the only promise he has kept. The bill, developed in consultation with the Obama administration, would require for-profit corporations like Hobby Lobby Stores to provide and pay for contraceptive coverage, along with other preventive services, under the Affordable Care Act. The measure could be on the Senate floor as early as next week, Senate Democrats said. “Your health care decisions are not your boss’s
