Good news for Sebelius: Being thrown
under a bus is covered by ObamaCare

Fallon: Hugh Hefner´s friends threw him a big 88th birthday party today. They had a naked woman jump out of a giant bran muffin. Fallon: Top movie this weekend was ‘Captain America.’ Earned $303 million worldwide. In other words, Captain America has more money than regular America. Conan: A new modeling agency opened in London the other day that values a model’s personality over thinness and looks. It closed 20 minutes later.

Actually this Sebelius item is misquoted in the headline - it´s funnier in the original in the article.

The comedians are getting a tad bolder every day to skewer the regime, I think. Like the engagement ring nebula joke, though, not as bold as we´d like.

GOP: We need reforms to tap
into U.S. energy abundance
Investor´s Business Daily, by Andrew Malcolm    Original Article

Let’s talk about energy — how it affects our daily lives, and how Republicans are working to make it more affordable, reliable, and beneficial. Not too long ago, we thought America’s energy needs could only be met through increasing foreign dependence. It’s a scary thought, particularly as we watch the chaos unfold overseas and gasoline prices closing in on four bucks a gallon here at home. I hear constantly from working families struggling with the cost of filling the tank just to drive to and from work.

As President, my top priority is rebuilding an economy where everybody who works hard has the chance to get ahead. That’s what I’ll spend some time talking about on Monday, at the White House Summit on Working Families. We’re bringing together business leaders and workers to talk about the challenges that working parents face every day, and how we can address them together.

America´s Newest Hero: Cpl. Kyle Carpenter,

The man you see before you, Corporal William Kyle Carpenter, should not be alive today. Hand grenades are one of the most awful weapons of war. They only weigh about a pound, but they’re packed with TNT. If one lands nearby, you have mere seconds to seek cover. When it detonates, its fragments shoot out in every direction. And that spray of shrapnel can inflict devastating injuries. Up close, it’s almost certain death. But we are here because this man faced that explosive power with his own body to protect a fellow Marine.

California´s Dianne Feinstein is chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee, an oxymoron in many minds. But she knows a lot of classified stuff, including what the Obama administration is thinking about the bloody political and military mess in Iraq. [Snip] On Wednesday Feinstein said: "The Maliki government, candidly, has got to go if you want any reconciliation." If he’s smart and aware of a little history about America´s deadly diplomacy, Iraq´s Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, a Shiite, might want to change his behavior toward Sunnis rather quickly.

New polls confirm confidence

What was just a suspicion this spring has now become a clear national trend, confirmed by a series of new polling numbers: Americans´ faith in Barack Obama´s basic competence as president and commander-in-chief is crumbling beneath the weight of accumulating scandals, inept images and overseas crises in which Obama often seems surprised, unprepared, hesitant to act and easily out-maneuvered. The alleged economic recovery is stalled 4 years after Obama´s Recovery Summer of 2010. As the American military´s hard-won Iraq war gains seem endangered, a new Wall Street Journal poll finds approval of Obama´s foreign policy at

As fresh word arrives of Islamic militants continuing their full-speed assault on Baghdad and executing thousands along the way, President Obama rushed back to Washington Monday to convene national security advisers on a path forward. Well, actually, that´s not true. The commander-in-chief did not rush back at all from his long weekend getaway in southern California. [Snip] He didn’t return to the White House Monday night. And today he’s off for more fundraisers. Today, Obama´s off to Pennsylvania for another speech. And then tonight he´ll do two fundraisers in New York City, including a Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Gala.

Sen. Tom Coburn gives the Republican Party's Weekly Remarks My name is Tom Coburn. As a physician and three-time cancer survivor, I know firsthand how frustrating the wait to see a doctor can be. The Department of Veterans Affairs admitted this week that veterans must wait up to three months to get a doctor’s appointment. These delays have been linked to unnecessary deaths and complications. This is unacceptable. It screams of government incompetency.

President Obama's weekly remarks Hi, everybody. Sunday is Father’s Day. If you haven’t got Dad a gift yet, there’s still time. Just barely. But the truth is, what we give our fathers can never match what our fathers give us. I know how important it is to have a dad in your life, because I grew up without my father around. I felt the weight of his absence. So for Michelle and our girls, I try every day to be the husband and father my family didn’t have when I was young.

Hillary Clinton is doing everything you´d expect from someone setting up a presidential attempt in two years. She´s publishing a book today that´s unlikely to offend anyone important. "A newsless snore," wrote Politico´s Mike Allen. She´s granting "exclusive" interview after "exclusive" interview with hand-picked questioners. Oh, look they´re women. Her poll numbers for the Democrat nomination are prohibitively positive. She´ll do much smiling and deflecting in scores of public sessions, trying to define the new Hillary before others do.

At the end of the Civil War, but before the pernicious reach of Jim Crow undermined the Union Army’s battlefield victory, former slaves and free blacks found themselves in possession of a most precious right -- the right to vote. It didn’t matter if a man had been a war hero in the famed, all-black 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry Regiment or a house servant in a Southern plantation. All that mattered was that he was a man. To say that this development didn’t sit well with the progressive-minded women of this country is an understatement. (Snip) She had no doubt that a terrorist attack had been launched against America on the anniversary of 9/11. However, when Hillary picked up the phone and heard Obama’s voice, she learned the president had other ideas in mind. I still think President Barack Obama was born in Hawaii, even though for 14 years he allowed his literary agent to circulate a bio blurb stating he was born in Kenya, and even though for many years he attended a church where his pastor friend shouted such things as “God damn America!” I still think that he just pretended to be Kenyan to be cool, to sell books and, perhaps, to get a foreign student scholarship at those colleges from which he refuses to release his transcripts. He’s probably not actually Kenyan. But as I speculated

Hillary Clinton´s multimillion dollar fortune has caused some negative headlines during the media tour for the release of her new book "Hard Choices," which is widely seen as a prelude to a potential 2016 presidential campaign. There are times that I have senior moments and forget certain names and events but after the recent Obama Iraq war implosion, I´m convinced most political pundits are suffering from them as well. What is unusual is that this revision of history is being committed by conservatives who should know better. Recent commentary by Glenn Beck, George Will and Charles Krauthammer indicate that they have significant memory lapses about why we went to war in Iraq. They now suggest that it was a wrong decision whereas my complaint is that we took too long to invade and oust Saddam Hussein.

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) cancelled its longtime relationship with an email-storage contractor just weeks after ex-IRS official Lois Lerner’s computer crashed and shortly before other IRS officials’ computers allegedly crashed. The company, which partners with Microsoft and counts The New York Times among its clients, claims in its company slogans that it provides “Email Archiving Done Right” and “Point-Click Recovery.” Sonasoft in 2009 tweeted, “If the IRS uses Sonasoft products to backup their servers why wouldn’t you choose

All the time I was growing up in Atlanta, the face of Robert E. Lee was taking shape on the side of an enormous granite mountain just outside town. He loomed like a god above us, as much a presence as any deity, and God knows he was accepted as such. It was only much later that I began to question his sanctity, and then to hate what he stood for. When I was in elementary school, the face of Lee on Stone Mountain was a rough-cut thing, weathering and wasting as the generation that began it in 1912—a generation

The decision this past week by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to rescind federal trademark protections for the Redskins may ultimately tip the balance in the controversy over the 80-year-old name of Washington’s football team. If so, that would be a shame. Not because there’s insufficient reason to consider the name “disparaging to Native Americans,” as the patent office determined. Many of us recoil at the reference to skin color as a team identity. The problem is that the Redskins case is just the latest example of a federal agency going beyond its brief to inappropriately insert itself in

US Secretary of State John Kerry has arrived in Iraq´s capital, Baghdad as Sunni insurgents expand their control of towns across north-western Iraq. In Egypt on Sunday, Mr Kerry warned that Sunni militants Isis´ "ideology of violence and repression is a threat not only to Iraq but to the entire region". On Sunday rebels--spearheaded by Isis militants--captured border crossings to Syria and Jordan. The strategically important airport in the northern Tal Afar has also fallen. The town controls the main road from the Syrian border to Mosul, Iraq´s second biggest city, which was captured by the rebels two weeks ago.

With much of the Obama administration´s foreign policy in tatters, John Kerry is clear on at least one goal he hopes to achieve by the end of his time as secretary of state: having lesbian, bisexual, and transgender ambassadors representing the United States. In remarks to a GLIFAA (formerly Gays and Lesbians in Foreign Affairs Agencies) Pride event in the Ben Franklin Room at the State Department, the secretary ran through a litany of accomplishments by the Obama administration that benefit the "LGBT/gay community." The least loved institution in America today is the U.S. Senate, and one of the reasons it is reviled is a zero-sum approach to women´s medical care. It´s time we changed that and adopt modern policies that make sense instead of using women´s medical issues as an election-year power play. One of the most rational ways for Washington to break this gridlock is to approve oral contraception for over-the-counter purchases by adults. Since "the pill" was first approved 44 years ago, it´s been one of the most proven and tested pharmaceuticals of our time. It is safe, reliable, effective, and presents
