IMF urges Congress to back
reforms giving fund more clout

Chicago Tribune, by Don Lee

Original Article

The U.S. made clear this week that it wants the International Monetary Fund to be the emergency lender for countries like Ukraine, but American lawmakers have persistently refused to give the IMF the additional financial firepower that it has sought. That tension was evident in meetings concluding this weekend of the IMF, the World Bank and representatives of the Group of 20 major economies: Washington´s long delay in ratifying changes to the IMF´s so-called quota system came under fire from finance ministers and other officials of many countries.

We´ve been shipping PALLET loads of American currency into the rest of the world for years. Decades, generations of years. Does that count? Is there any accountability for that money? We´ve been feeding the poor in N Korea because they are starving. Are they full yet or did the treacherous leader divert the money and eat everything himself? We give boatloads of our tax dollars to the UN and they fritter it away with abandon and greedily come begging for more. Our churches and charities and the good hearted people of this country give freely to every single global disaster - we give with our hearts, our hands in volunteers and the tears of sympathy for every people regardless of all the prejudices we are accused of. But because it comes directly fro we the people and not our gov´t, it does not register and our country is labeled as "STINGY" by pizpot cretins whose own countries give a pittance. The Middle East is awash in billionaire sheikhs who surround themselves in opulence while their people starve or revolt or dream of martyrdom. As does nearly every other despotic communist backwater country around the world. And they all come, with outstretched arms, almost always to the United States of America - who not happy to overtax it´s own citizens, it burdens citizens not yet born by borrowing from China. How ´bout the beggers go show up directly to China themselves - eliminate the U.S. as middleman. And IMF, UN and the rest - your answer is NO. NO. A thousand times NO.

America´s Energy Nightmare

What do we need to turn our country around? Well, for starters, we need a president who stops getting his energy policies from Hollywood movies — and Hollywood liberals. Consider President Obama’s dithering when it comes to approving the Keystone XL pipeline. First proposed in 2008, this massive infrastructure project would bring low-cost crude oil from fields in Canada southward to the United States. Despite nearly six years of government reviews — and nearly four dozen oil and gas pipelines already safely operating between the U.S. and Canada — the Obama administration and the State Department still have not approved the

Germany poured in the goals Tuesday to hand Brazil its heaviest World Cup loss ever, an astounding 7-1 rout in the semifinals that stunned the host nation. Miroslav Klose scored a record-setting 16th career World Cup goal in a five-goal spurt in the first half as Brazil’s defense was torn apart. The Germans reached their eighth final and will face either Argentina or the Netherlands on Sunday at the Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro.

Whenever the subject of politics and religion comes up, some individuals wish to believe that the two are not connected. Yet, many people are concerned with the speed of America’s moral collapse. Throughout both the bible and world history, the two have collided (wars were fought over religion). When the Kings and Judges in the bible were godly, the people and the land flourished. On the other hand, the evil kings and judges brought famine and destruction upon the people and the land (does any of this sound familiar?) Our founding fathers were men of deep religious convictions based in

A legal battle over the fate of Common Core, the national education standards developed by a coalition of governors and educators and adopted by the vast majority of states, may be brewing in Louisiana. The state’s top education board voted on Tuesday to retain legal counsel, a sign it is gearing up for a lawsuit against Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal after he issued a series of executive orders in an attempt to withdraw the state from the Common Core.

Dr. Ben Carson once made the observation that “political correctness” acts as a “muzzle” to quell legitimate dissent against the status quo. That is undoubtedly a true statement. But to drive in the stakes and build our intellectual ramparts on this point is little more than ceding coveted ground in an argument against a completely unfounded doctrine that presents falsehoods as facts. There is a more fundamental observation upon which we can mount our legitimate defense against the doctrine of “political correctness,” and it lies in the simplest inspection of the phrase “politically correct.” Inherent in those two words’ juxtaposition is

State Sen. On Thursday, his campaign announced the “challenge” in the latest episode in a circus of a Senate race. On June 24, incumbent Sen. Thad Cochran, R-Miss., defeated McDaniel in a primary runoff by 6,700 votes. But McDaniel has refused to concede, alleging Cochran’s team paid for votes. By its own admission, the Arab world loves death more than it loves life. Consider that "during all periods of their history, the ancient Egyptians seem to have spent much of their time thinking of death and making provisions for their afterlife. The vast size ... and the ubiquity of their funerary monuments bear testimony to this obsession." Consider that the Palestinian world teaches its children to embrace shahid, or martyrdom. It is an aberrant culture where parents celebrate their own children´s deaths by the promotion of suicide terrorism.

This past week, Fox News, Megyn Kelly, and Dinesh D’Souza gave a platform to an entity that hates America and our way of life. Seems the prospect of smokin’ out a snake like Bill Ayers was too good to pass up. Getting an exclusive one-on-one with a crazy, violent communist with a small c was quite a coup for Kelly and D’Souza...or was it? Since lying and deceit generally benefit the liar, we have to ask, ”What was in it for Bill Ayers?” A mea culpa for past crimes? Hardly. After listening to Ayers, we must conclude: once a psychopath, always a psychopath.

It´s a story that´s been told before. After a failed bid for the White House, the long-serving senator returned to Capitol Hill. As the years wore on, he sparred with the president, used his name recognition to push his pet causes and became a power broker able to step in when party leadership failed. In many ways, Sen. John McCain has followed the path laid out by Sen. Ted Kennedy after his unsuccessful attempt to wrest the Democratic nomination from Jimmy Carter in 1980. Although Hillary Clinton is undoubtedly happy that a sympathetic and excited press agreed to cover her new memoir, Hard Choices, she´s apparently unimpressed with much of the reporting on her book tour. And what a book tour it has been. From one gaffe regarding her family´s impressive wealth to the next, it appears that Clinton can´t catch a break. And remember: Each Clinton misstep regarding her personal wealth has occurred during ridiculously easy softball interviews with a sympathetic press. Still, rather than pull the plug on her less-than-stellar book tour, and take a moment to regroup and maybe try again, Clinton has decided

Sarah Palin wants to impeach Barack Obama. In an op-ed article published last week, the former Republican vice presidential nominee declared that the crisis on the southern border (where young illegal immigrants are being detained) "is the last straw that makes the battered wife say, ´No, mas´." The Republican Speaker of the House, John Boehner, thinks that´s loco. (Technically, he said, "I disagree".)
