Obama Begins to Say Good-Bye
National Journal, by James Oliphant

Original Article

Because you can find anything on the Web, you can easily search and pull up a running clock that tells you just how long, to the second, Barack Obama has been president. It moves in real time. It only feels like it´s speeding up. Constrained by crises over which he has little power to impact events, hemmed in by a divided Congress more interested in scoring points with voters than in legislating, and watching as his potential successor assumes more and more of the political spotlight, Obama may be receding into history more quickly than either he or his aides ever anticipated. It was impossible to listen to the president's speech Thursday

Excellent post. "like Butch and Sundance in Bolivia" - hilarious. Unfortunately, I don´t think he will ever actually say goodbye. he will snipe at us for decades with "woulda, coulda, shoulda´s" just like Clinton, the piece of you know what that simply will not flush.

I am afraid that Obama will never go away--like a nasty strain of STD, he just won´t go away.

I would love to see him go away in an orange jumpsuit, arrested for treason and criminal conspiracy. But that ain´t ever gonna happen, though it is well deserved.

there are those who dismiss the Great Society as a failed experiment and an encroachment on liberty; who argue that government has become the true source of all that ails us, and that poverty is due to the moral failings of those who suffer from it

Well well well... Obama seems to be talking about me. One correction -- it was not an experiment. It was a *scheme* designed to defraud the tax payers out of $trillions for the benefit of the dimocrat party. It has done just that, and grown a class of dependents that will be with us long after Obama says good bye.

For that is the enduring problem. We all count the days until Obama is clocked out of the White House. But we´ll never get rid of the damage done by the "experiments" the dimocrats have saddled us with nor the people that keep asking for more.

FTA "a divided Congress more interested in scoring points with voters than in legislating,"

Exactly what our Founders wanted and intended. A Federal Government that would only pass legislation when everyone thought it to be necessary. We have devolved into thinking that if a lot of legislation is not passed Congress isn´t doing their job. This kind of thinking has to stop. If one Congress met and didn´t pass anything to me that would be worth celebrating. Bipartisanship is destroying the country and choking us in taxes and regulations. It must stop if the Republic and Constitution are to survive.

Good-bye to obama can´t come soon enough. How much more destruction he will accomplish is unknown. On thing he has accomplished is just how incompetent and weak the elite GOP and Rinos are when dealing with Marxist Democrats. They are useless.

I don´t think that obama ever did the simple math that obamaCare will not work. He really believes in the "Unicorn Ranch" stuff. He is actually shocked that it is now blowing up in his face. However, unlike LBJ who left the White House as a tired old man, obama is not old.

And I don´t think obama has decades in retirement to look forward to. Karma is a b*tch.

Obama has amassed such power that he may never give it up. If he can´t have Holder concoct a way for him to run for a 3rd term, he could have the Mooch run just like Argentina´s Cristina Fernandes, whose husband was barred from a 3rd term. The Democrats are no different than the corrupt Peronists, so expect the worst since I do no believe Obama has run his last campaign.

Obama and Eric Holder are a Batman and Robin team. When and if not together they will not survive separately. When Obama exits he will do nothing but snippets and sound bites against Republicans and whine about how great he could have been and blame Bush.
Obama is selfish and not a team player the party of fellow travels would do themselves a favor to distance themselves from him. When the truth is known Obama will be viewed as a failure more than FDR and Johnson.
He will be known as the first black experiment president but let´s make him the ´last black president´ also. I´ve had it with this racial healing and communist cabal ruining this nation.

Some of this is a serious gagorama:

"The office humbles you," Obama said in Austin. "You´re reminded daily that in this great democracy, you are but a relay swimmer in the currents of history, bound by decisions made by those who came before you, reliant on the efforts of those who will follow to fully vindicate your vision."

First, the Office didn´t "humble" Obama at all. It just pointed out to him that he is unfit for it. He´s not humbled by that. He´s angered by it.

Second, his quote is once again placing all blame on others. "...those who came before", and "those who will follow". Nothing of what Obama actually inflicted on America is his fault. He was hampered on all sides by everyone else.

....his mouth fixed flat for most of the address, his face betraying the weariness of almost six years of incessant conflict.

How would we know? He always looks like that. He isn´t "weary". He did nothing to be weary about. Everyone else is doing the work. Maybe he´s weary of playing golf.

"Today we remain locked in this same great debate about equality and opportunity, and the role of government in ensuring each. As was true 50 years ago, there are those who dismiss the Great Society as a failed experiment and an encroachment on liberty; who argue that government has become the true source of all that ails us, and that poverty is due to the moral failings of those who suffer from it," Obama said. "There are also those who argue ... that nothing has changed; that racism is so embedded in our DNA that there is no use trying politics—the game is rigged. But such theories ignore history."

Where does one begin with such utter misreading and disregard of the truth?

continued....

....continued

First, there is a faux "great debate about equality and opportunity", created entirely by him and those like him. There is no debate: People are born equal and with equal opportunity -- ask people like Clarence Thomas or Ben Carson or Thomas Sowell.

Second, it isn´t the government that insures these things. They are God-given rights everyone has. What they do with those right are on them, not on racism´s imagined damage.

Third, the government really IS the source of our problems. We need some government for essentials, but not for daily individual lives.

Finally, and this is too egregious for words, he says that some people believe that "poverty is due to the moral failings of those who suffer from it,.."

Many people are poor because they have lost control and they genuinely need help. No one minds using government to help those people. But there IS a moral problem with those who promote government dependency and those who feel entitled to it. The "moral problem" resides in those who promote the dependent plantation class so that they will vote for Democrats, who notoriously and callously want as many people locked into poverty as possible.

...so freighted as it has been with questions about whether some of the animosity toward his presidency is rooted in skin color.

He would not have been elected twice if his skin color was the problem. The problem is the color of his heart.

I was caught on the line..." It was impossible to listen to the president´s speech..." I had to immediately agree. I can not stand to hear his stupid voice, his er´s, and ums, and his pirouetting hesitations, his head swiveling monotonously from far right to far left, like an over-weighted pendulum, never speaking to the whole...his eyes fixed in their sockets, like the eyes of a sleepwalker. He reads well, but thought is simply not there...he is vacant. His face never chaning, always dours, always the same...no feeling, no life at all...just reading, ever reading and saying the words...timed to end eventually...and then, the applause sign goes off...and the reader goes on to the next podium, the next teleprompter and reads again.

God! We have 1,072 more days of this lifeless, clueless cretin holding our Presidency hostage.

WASHINGTON -- Tackling what he has called a humanitarian crisis, President Barack Obama on Tuesday asked Congress for $3.7 billion to cope with a tide of minors from Central America who are illegally crossing the U.S. southern border, straining immigration resources and causing a political firestorm in Washington. The White House says the money would help increase the detention, care and transportation of unaccompanied children, help speed the removal of adults with children by increasing the capacity of immigration courts, and would increase prosecution of smuggling networks. The money would also increase surveillance at the U.S. border and help Central American

The quest to save the ISEE-3—a long-lost NASA probe launched in the disco era and abandoned in the dot-com boom—might just succeed. Late last week, the amateur scientists and engineers working to salvage the probe hit a major milestone: They coaxed the craft into firing its rotational thrusters. The achievement is important for many reasons. While the amateur team trying to reboot the ISEE-3 has been in radio contact with the probe for more than a month, this is the first time it has successfully commanded moving parts onboard. It’s important for technical reasons. The ISEE-3 is “spin-stabilized,” meaning it

It´s still a little unclear exactly how much money President Obama will request to deal with the crisis of thousands of families and unaccompanied children crossing the border into the United States illegally. But there are indications the vast majority of the funding will go to caring for the illegal immigrants who are already here -- feeding, housing, and transporting them to new American homes -- while a far smaller amount will go to sending some of those immigrants back to their home countries and preventing future immigrants from crossing into the U.S. illegally. The bad news first. The People´s Republic of China now believes it can successfully prevent the United States from intervening in the event of a Chinese invasion of Taiwan or some other military assault by Beijing. Now the good news. China is wrong — and for one major reason. It apparently disregards the decisive power of America´s nuclear-powered submarines. Moreover, for economic and demographic reasons Beijing has a narrow historical window in which to use its military to alter the world´s power structure. If China doesn´t make a major military move in the next couple decades, it probably never will. The U.S. Navy´s
