Goodbye tea party, hello big tent

Say what you will about Sens. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) and Ted Cruz (R-Tex.), but they know a train wreck when they see it. They also know when to separate themselves from the cranks and the losers on the right. Although both supported the shutdown and were heartily supported by tea party groups in their own Senate races, neither one has endorsed Matt Bevin in Kentucky, Milton Wolf in Kansas or Chris McDaniel in Mississippi. In fact, Cruz’s office confirms he hasn’t endorsed anyone in the primaries. He may weigh in after the primaries. Rand Paul has endorsed two very establishment

Really, Jennifer, cranks and insurgents? Why not call Tea Partiers terrorists, that seems to be where you are going. Also, please explain to me why it is beneficial to any tax payer to support incumbents who have done nothing but increased the power of government in our lives.

Frankly, you just don´t understand the Tea Party. It is not a group. It is an idea. Most of us don´t want to belong to any group. We have had enough of that kind of disappointment. We do, however, know and understand what is going on in Washington. It is a cesspool of corruption, greed and waste and we are sick and tired of funding it. You desperately need to marginalize the Tea Party. You call is names and infer we are not smart enough to know the nuances of politics. However, there is one thing we know beyond a shadow of a doubt. Washington is corrupt and men like McConnell and Boehner and all their fellow career politicians won´t fix it. It is not in their best interests. So tell me, Jennifer, when someone is robbing you, lying to your face, and not only ignores you, but believes you are too stupid to figure it out, why would you support them. Seems to me, your real beef with the "Tea Party" is that we have figured out what is going on and we intend to do something about it. We are not the lunatic fringe. We are ticked off tax payers who have had enough.

Wow, it sounds like Jennifer Rubin really hates the tea party. But news to her, the Tea Party is still alive and well. What happened in Neveda may not be called Tea Party but it was organized on the same principles.

Ted Cruz stated, many months ago, that he would not participate in the primaries. He believes it is up to the people of each district and each State to choose who they will send to Congress.

Is Jennifer really this clueless?

Like Obama sycophants, the Tea Party to these people is whatever they project it to be. The Tea Party is a phantom that exists somewhere on the edge of the Twilight Zone. They don´t know any Tea Party supporters nor do they wish to BUT they surely know what they are. In Ms. Rubin´s words, they are cranks and losers. They are like "gasp" a bunch of Sarah Palins. TEA Party means people like your mother, father, aunt, cousin, brother, the little old lady down the street who share the belief that we are Taxed Enough Already.
They believe in the Constitution and want everyone to obey existing law. (Hear that Obama, Holder, illegals).
I am tired of articles painting TEA party as extreme..is believing in the Constitution extreme?
But we have the extreme left wing communists who would grow government even larger, and control every aspect of the individual´s life. (they already have us by the short hairs with Healthcare)..and will soon move in to control water (oops already doing that in California to protect a smelt) and control our food supply (oops already doing that with beef cattle that graze).

The big tent arrives when the national narrative is about principles of freedom and liberty, not into which group does the voter need to be classified as a member.

The GOP Establishment not only has bought into the division of the country into groups, but they are now helping to promote it.

#18 is posting a logical fallacy presupposing that the TP is not a big tent that welcomes ALL people, therefore must be bigots, cranks, racists and homophobes. It´s same as asking "What´s wrong with black people?" or "Why do you hate homosexuals?", or "Why do you want to poison the water?"

No one here nor on any other TP-affiliated site, article or rally has inferred that ALL are not welcome to participate in reigning in an out of control government.

"Big Tent" to Jennifer Rubin and the establishment she supports (until they get the nomination, that is) means everyone shuts up and thinks the same. It is the opposite of big tent.

The TP need not defend it´s principled positions and traditional values, especially to the brainless cranks who rail against it. BTW, what does the GOP have on offer for voters? A wind bag who presides over a solid blue State both bankrupt and hemorrhaging population plus another Bush nobody who most recently took the side of foreign illegals against that of our own people; an ultimate act of gross disloyalty to plain American citizens. That utterance de facto disqualifies this jackass from any political office. Anyone notice the shrieks of outrage from the R Est and the likes of Rubin about this pious ´act of love´ blather? I just do not understand this hatred of the Tea Party. All they´ve done is point out the collusion between the GOP and the Democrats to maintain their power at the expense of the people.

The elite of both parties are terrified that the message of the Tea Party will reach their voters, hence their constant description of them as cranks and losers.

Hey elite GOPers! Guess who the real losers are? Why don´t you look in the mirror? The next time you win a national election we´ll take you seriously. In the meantime you should be on your knees kissing the hands of the Tea Partiers who are keeping you from being totally irrelevant. Frankly, those of you who tow the Karl Rove/establishment GOP line are the real cranks and losers. Your time is done, now get out of our way.

The reluctance of Hamas’s “military wing”—a misnomer for the more extreme elements of its extremist leadership—to accept the cease-fire designed by Egypt is, well, logical. Let’s admit it. They do not wish to accept defeat, and the Egyptian terms are a defeat for Hamas. By attacking Israel, what has Hamas wrought? Considerable damage was done to Gaza by Israeli air power, and Gazans will be picking up the pieces for months if not longer. But Hamas proved unable to kill one single Israeli with its hundreds of rockets, and all its special tricks—tunnels, longer-range rockets, a drone—also failed. Nor could

House Republicans are moving quickly to address the growing humanitarian crisis on the southern border, possibly holding votes as soon as next week. As Congress moves closer to the monthlong August recess, the speedy action sends a clear message to Senate Democrats: Take it or leave it. Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), incoming Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) and a group of top lawmakers working on the border crisis are set to file a bill that very closely mirrors the legislation crafted by Texas lawmakers Sen. Two of the larger social trends of our time — the growth of payday gambling and the legalization of marijuana — have two things in common: They are justified as the expansion of personal liberty, and they serve the interests of an expanding government. The ideological alliance behind these changes is among the strangest in U.S. politics. Libertarians seek to lift governmental restraints on consensual acts. State governments seek sources of revenue without the political inconvenience of requesting broad tax increases. It had to come sometime, and it came in one very bad week for the Democrats: that the many big problems with Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama finally grew too great for the press to ignore. Obama in his own different way is heading towards Nixon-like levels of weirdness, as, beaten down by the failures regarding his ventures, he appears to have quit his own job. A.B. Stoddard of the Hill says in effect he has stopped being president and chooses to live in a world of his own, shutting out the problems that have become overwhelming, giving dinners where he talks

Sessions cites a recent report from the National Journal, in which reporter Major Garrett detailed how, despite the ongoing

Attorney General Eric Holder encouraged Americans not to forget race while working for justice and equality in their country. “As it stands, our society is not yet color blind -- nor should it be -- given the disparities that still afflict and divide us.” Holder explained, “We must be color brave, and we must never forget that all are made better and more prosperous if all are given equal opportunities.” Holder made his remarks during a speech at Howard University on Tuesday for the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the Civil Rights Act. “We must take into account not only the
