Victory for Nevada´s last rancher!
Federal government backs down and
says it will NOT try to seize cattle from
cowboy at the centre of armed showdown

Daily Mail [UK], by Ryan Gorman*

The last rancher in southern Nevada has won his battle to graze cows on public land after a week-long stand off with federal agents. The Bureau of Land Management today said it would stop trying to seize the cattle of Cliven Bundy after armed militia members today continuing to gather in Nevada in a confrontation with federal agents. BLM Director Neil Kornze said: ´Based on information about conditions on the ground, and in consultation with law enforcement, we have made a decision to conclude the cattle gather because of our serious concern about the safety of employees and members of

Scroll down for the video. The Daily Mail always has incredible photos. If you aren´t already enraged of the behavior of those from the government that will send you over the edge. It is just shocking and terrifying. Who would have ever believed you would even see something like this. Oh that´s right, it reminds you of WACO. The response from Republicans on this has been extremely weak at best.

WACO was all done by the democrats; Janet Reno took full responsibility, or so she said. However, there were nineteen children murdered in the raid, and Janet was never held accountable, even though she said she was responsible.

Most of the time, standing up to the Left results in their backing down. The problem is that politicians won´t, Issa and a few others exempted.

The American left is just a vestige of Leninism that was imported into the US at the beginning of the 20th century. Devoid of a moral and intellectual foundation (seen to be fraudulent by the ´70s), all that´s left is a lust for power.

I´m not sure if it is victory but it may prevent some shooting.

Neither side looks very nice. But the Director at BLM seems to have realized they were on the wrong path.

BLM should stick to working it as a legal case. The Bundys can ultimately be arrested if they won´t follow court orders or the law. If need be their ranch can be taken to pay judgements.

BLM nonsense such as hiring cowboys to chase Bundy cattle, maybe shoot the critters, keeping helicopters and snipers ready to attack, etc. were mad and expensive.

Equally mad was a lot of the militia talk from the other side.

I don´t think Bundy´s battle is over and I also don´t think this was a "victory" for him.

I hadn´t known that Bundy turned down the same deal all the other Gold Butte ranchers took, paying him for his improvements and buying out his water and grazing rights.

The BLM always hires "cowboys". They have no wranglers on staff, but contract with locals when possible. I was sad to see one L-Dotter lamenting that the BLM didn´t shoot anyone, believing a shooting would have set off his hoped-for revolution.

That´s just nuts.

IMHO the next step for Mr. Bundy and his supporters is to identify the individuals who used a taser against his son, also those who used force against his sister and other protestors and bring civil suits against them. Discovery will uncover who gave the orders and what their instructions were, also by hitting them in their pockets, government thugs may start questioning orders in the future.

The BLM has no reason to have employees with guns or helicopters. Let them call 911 if they need help. I am glad that the BLM backed off and read that they shipped in people from out of the area who didn´t know what had been happening with Mr. Bundy´s issue. They may work for the federal government but it is still a felony to steal someone else´s cattle and they are not above the law.

#9, maybe I missed it, but I didn´t see anyone lament the fact that there was no shooting. Anyway, I don´t trust them either. What I don´t understand is why some people are so quick to defend the government and their agencies. Some people on the other thread were complaining Bundy was wrong because he hasn´t paid but others said he tried paying but they wouldn´t take the money. Then another person was saying that people shouldn´t assume he is conservative. Huh? Is that a non-sequitur or what? I don´t care if the rancher is a flaming lefty or what his views are...we should NOT allow the government to bully ANY citizen. The rights of liberals and lefties should be protected just as vigorously as those of conservatives.

#17, Bundy claimed that he tried to give the lease money to Clark County, but that Clark County wouldn´t accept it. The reason for that is that the lease money was supposed to be paid for to the feds; Clark County doesn´t own the land.

Bundy has gone on the record as saying he obeys only state law, and does not obey any federal law, nor recognize the federal government as an authority. I hope he doesn´t drive on any federal highways. People who refuse to recognize the federal government are often quite willing to accept whatever benefits it may bestow on them. This guy´s had 20+ years of free grazing. On my dime.

Editor´s note: This column originally appeared in the July issue of Townhall Magazine. Despite President Obama’s promise of an “unprecedented level of openness in government,” the American people have unfortunately become accustomed to a new normal over the past six years: incompetence, scandal, and misconduct. Independence Day is a good time to revisit the foundations of our political order, especially given the long record of Barack Obama and the Democrats’ disregard for the Constitution. The members of the Continental Congress who met in Philadelphia in July 1776 sought their independence from England in order to recover their rights that had been violated by a tyrant, and to establish political freedom and autonomy so that those rights could be protected from further erosion. For a century now the Progressive ideology has insidiously undermined that legacy of autonomy in a slow-motion revolution that aims to “fundamentally transform
