The IRS Scandal Comes Into Focus
Wall Street Journal, by Kimberley A. Strassel

Nearly a year into the IRS scandal, we still don´t know exactly what happened—though we are finally getting an inkling. That´s thanks to the letter House Ways and Means Chairman Dave Camp sent this week to the Justice Department recommending a criminal probe of Lois Lerner. The average citizen might be dizzied by the torrent of confusing terms—BOLO lists, Tigta, 501(c)(4)—and the array of accusations that have made up this IRS investigation. Mr. Camp´s letter takes a step back to remind us why this matters, even as it provides compelling new information that goes to motive and method—and clarifies some of

The whole mess, between the IRS scandal and Holders failure to enforce laws is the most major threat to the USA in its history.
This is Obamas executive branch subverting the constitution of the USA.
Anything Nixon did pales in comparison.
Nixons actions did nothing to permanently damage the country and eliminate the Dimocrat party.
In any other time, Obama would have been kicked out of office.
With our communist press covering for him he has survived.

At the core is the IRS´ continuing stormtrooper tactics of silencing the Right. When a group is denied its tax-exempt status under the law, it cannot raise money.
When it cannot raise money, it cannot corral conservative candidates.
When there are no conservative candidates who have enough money to "advertise" their agenda, no conservatism gets into the mix, leaving only liberalism.
When that happens, we have rampant disregard for the rule of law and for the Constitution, as in right now.

And it gets worse the longer no one rises up against it. Were Republicans no so damn soft and cushy (few exceptions there are), they would walk out of Congress and shut the place down until justice -- real justice -- was done.

This slimy corruption is just one method the Left uses to silence the Right. Next it will be talk radio, Fox News, then the internet, then the phone company, then your iPhone -- any method you can use to organize to fight liberals.

They want us wiped out just as surely as "Palestine" wants Israel wiped out. Until this sinks in and MATTERS to people, the Democrat Party will continue their criminal enterprises.

What I want to know is how long this has been going on and how many previous elections were lost to the GOP because of this. Hm?

Saw a "Frontline" special on North Korea the other night.
The only difference between our two countries is the degree to which the boot is applied to the neck of the people.
The mentality of both regimes is exactly the same.

Remember Lois Lerner confessed to this crime in a public forum to take the heat off/pivot from the Benghazi scandal. Double, double, toil and trouble - a witch´s brew.

This is the right opportunity and the right time to chuck the tax laws as they are and go to a flat-tax system. Due to it´s own actions, the IRS has lost the apolitical protective shell and is rotting from within.

The real crime that was committed here. and the one that no one is discussing, is the successful attempt to subvert the electoral process. The IRS knocked the conservative groups out of the election process. Further non-stop lying and stonewalling on the part of the regime further damaged the electoral process.

Had the truth about Benghazi, Fast and Furious, the true unemployment numbers etc, I guarantee that the 2012 election results would have been different.

Obama, his party, his appointed officers and czars. with the willing participation of the media pulled off a bloodless coup while 51% of the American population cheered.

You all realize that they will have to do it again to prevent the truth from seeing the light of day. If 2012 was bad, 2016 will be worse.

Democrats will circle the wagons to protect their own even when they are caught red-handed. I can´t imagine a group of Democrat leaders paying a visit to the White House to advise Dear Leader that he is in jeopardy of being impeached and should resign for the good of the country. That will never happen. The Democrats would rather start a civil war than admit their guy has done anything wrong. In fact, sometimes when my tin foil hat gets especially tight, I can´t help but believe Obama is pushing us toward civil unrest. He is the author of chaos. What else can you call all these scandals coming at us at warp speed? It is pure chaos. Community organizers, of which Obama is the chief, live to pit one group against another for their evil political purposes. Obama is playing a dangerous game with this country that could turn violent in a heartbeat.

I want to see more of these Tea Party groups that have been targeted on TV. I don´t know if they are prevented from it as long as it is "under investigation", but this could be accomplishing the same objective as the targeting!

This may be played by the MSM as a lame attempt by Lerner, but its bigger than that. It goes to the heart of how our government can pick sides against its citizens.

What is being missed in all this, is the IRS was targeting significant GOP donors. In the same way GM dealers who were GOP got targeted when GM downsized, GOP donors were targets as well.

This should send chills down the spine of moderates and conservatives throughout the country. To think, the exercise of your democratic right to free speech and political expression is caused to be a political target of our government is appalling.

If the voters do not rise up and rid the country of this blight - we full well deserve what will be the outcome. When O said that he could be more flexible after the election - we had no idea the extent to which that would reach across our country.

God Bless America

She was just following orders...

August 21, 2010: On his weekly radio address, Obama warns about “attack ads run by shadowy groups with harmless-sounding names. We don’t know who’s behind these ads and we don’t know who’s paying for them… You don’t know if it’s a foreign-controlled corporation… The only people who don’t want to disclose the truth are people with something to hide.”

September 16, 2010: In Connecticut, Obama repeats his warning that a “foreign-controlled entity” might be funding “millions of dollars of attack ads.”

September 22, 2010: In New York City, Obama warns that conservative groups “pose as non-for-profit, social welfare and trade groups,” while being “guided by seasoned Republican political operatives” who might be funded by a “foreign-controlled corporation.”

October 22, 2010: Obama complains about those that “hide behind these front groups.”

October 25, 2010: Obama calls the groups a “threat to our democracy.”

October 26, 2010: Obama decries groups engaged in “unsupervised spending.”

June 29, 2011: IRS director of exempt organizations Lois Lerner learns that the IRS flagged groups with titles including “tea party,” “patriot,” and “9/12 project” for deeper review. According to a draft of the TIGTA (the agency that audits the IRS), she told those involved to alter this practice “immediately.”

I could go on.

BTW: They didn´t halt anything. It is still going on today.

The demonrats have always been a very slimy bunch - - but they really lost whatever was left of their souls when they unanimously defended Klintoon.

There couldn´t possibly have been more blatant abuses of power, utter disregard for the office of president, and violations of the Constitution. Any organization with even the slightest love for this country - - would have tarred and feathered the criminal and run him out of town - - just as the Pubbies did with the less-offensive Nixon.

When the ´rats stood up for Willie - - I knew they were lost forever - - and had not a whit of concern for our beloved country. Zippy and his America-haters had a firm foundation to build on.

Fight back by sending small amounts to the TEA Party of your choice whether or not it has a 501(C)(4) status. I´m sure we all blow $25 on things we don´t need from time-to-time. Encourage others to do the same.

Better yet, if there is a local TEA Party, join and go to their meetings. We have two TEA Parties here in Florida where I live. I´ve joined both. They both have really good speakers. My favorite speakers were the parents of one of the Navy Seal VI members killed in that horrible downing of their chopper along with Army Special Ops Rangers - 30 of our Elite troops were killed - and it wasn´t by accident.

We have had speakers who talk about, Common Core and how bad it is. Illegal immigration - we just had two gentlemen speakers who came here years ago (one a medical doctor and the other an educator and journalist)- they came the legal way. Both gentlemen are very disturbed by the infiltration of foreigners through our porous borders, and nothing is being done to stop them.

I bought the books these guests have written:
BETRAYED by Billy Vaughn, father of Navy SEAL VI member Aaron Vaughn.
AMERICA IN DECLINE by Frank De Varona - former Cuban who took part in the Bay of Pigs invasion. He is an author, educator, journalist and expert on politics and national security.

I just wanted to add to my comment above - a small donation to a TEA Party is not blowing $25 - it is well worth anything you can afford. Join and get involved in an organization - there is strength in numbers. Sometimes it´s easy to feel alone in our struggle, but just knowing others feel as you do about preserving and protecting our beloved country can lift your spirits.

I am a kindred spirit with the comments above. However, I realize that sounding off in this wonderful echo chamber (thanks, Lucianne) will change nothing. Even if you contribute a year´s pay to your favorite Tea Party, and somehow that translates into a Republican legislative landslide, unless the House has 290 Republicans and Senate 67 Republicans, the President can successfully veto any legislation. Even the most optimistic pundits would scoff at the prospect that this next election could create a veto proof Congress. Armed with the veto and his disdain for the rule of law and the Constitution, this president will expand not retract the scope of his lawless behavior in 2015. He can do irreparable harm to our Republic in his last two years. The only way forward if for the House to find the intestinal fortitude to use its inherent powers to resolve Lerner´s contempt. If the House demonstrates that it will no longer tolerate the president´s flaunting of the law, by addressing the contempt of an important lynchpin in the president´s conspiracy, far fewer of his sycophants will be willing to execute his unlawful orders in the future. I realize that the process has not been used in 80 years, but it´s better than sending a letter to Holder--an act of political insanity. Doing nothing is bad. Choosing the impotent insane option is worse. If you want to end this lawless enterprise that passes for our country´s administration, Congress has to show some courage and use the only viable tool that it has.

If Ms. Lerner had been a rogue Administration official, DOJ would have done its job, exposed the culprits and prosecuted her and them. After all, the President said he was outraged. Instead, one house of Congress is forced to undertake a daily ridiculed investigation that receives no cooperation from her former agency, the White House or the Democrats on the committee. People interested in the truth cooperate. People interested in saving themselves do not.

While I consider our Constitution to be a unique treasure, BO and Holder have gone even further than shredding the Constitution. They ignore the rule of law. Without laws there is anarchy, the rule of thuggery. The problem is, in this country, the thug has a limited term.

I wonder what BO is going to do about that?

Once again we are shown the criminal behavior of Obama (although he never gets tied directly to that criminal behavior) and Holder. If we had an AG that was not a partisan political hack, there would be investigations by the Civil Rights Division of the DOJ regarding voter suppression like they are so quick to do where there is no evidence. You can well imagine the extreme outrage, furor and condemnation that would occur if a group comprised of LGBT blacks or Muslims suffered the same treatment. It´s so tiresome and frustrating to continue to see this lawless behavior and no Democrats (if there are any they know better than to speak up) who care to save our republic from the destruction taking place. The divide in America is absolutely stunning and Obama has only encouraged it. If this isn´t a time for true bipartisanship I don´t know what is. Instead we have people like Obama, Holder, Schumer, Cummings, Levin, Durbin, et al who actually encouraged this abuse by the IRS. Of course, like the rest of you, I know what should be done but I doubt that congress will do it.

As some have said, now is the time to eliminate the IRS codes, go to a single tax form and move to a flat tax of about 7%.

The 7% number was researched by then Senator Jim Demint and found to fund all Federal agencies with some cost reductions added in.

The time is now, lets roll.

Regarding the IRS targeting of Conservative groups scandal, Obama declared that there was, “not a smidgen of corruption,” in an interview with Bret Bear of Fox News.
After looking up the legal definition of political corruption, I have to conclude he was technicallytelling the truth.

Political corruption is the use of powers by government officials for illegitimate private gain. An illegal act by an officeholder constitutes political corruption only if the act is directly related to their official duties, is done under color of law or involves trading in influence.

Forms of corruption vary, but include bribery, extortion, cronyism, nepotism, patronage, graft, and embezzlement. Misuse of government power for other purposes, such as political repression, is NOT considered political corruption.
(Ref: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Political_corruption )

Political repression is the persecution of an individual or group for political reasons, particularly for the purpose of restricting or preventing their ability to take part in the political life of a society. Systemic political repression is a typical feature of dictatorships, totalitarian states and similar regimes.
(Ref: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Political_repression )

It is a shame that Bret didn’t ask him if the IRS scandal involved considerably more than a smidgen of political repression.

I could go for a flat tax, but I don´t want the Feds collecting it. We should pay our tax to the states and the Feds in turn collect taxes from the States. How can we be citizens of a State when the Feds have direct control over us? The IRS could be reduced to 5 guys that manage 10 states each with an operating budget of $1 million / year.

Conventional wisdom is clear that the next Congress has a considerable likelihood of being a Republican Congress. That same consensus also holds that if the GOP does indeed take control, the next two years will be marked by confrontation with the White House and even less actual legislative action than the present Congress has accomplished. To be fair, there is some compelling logic behind these conclusions. President Obama has clearly opted out of the role of governing through legislation. Many have parsed what President Barack Obama’s critics mean when they charge that the handling of the crisis on America’s southern border is “Obama’s Katrina.” The president’s supporters are quick to note that this comparison is misleading and unfair. Hurricane Katrina drowned an entire urban center. American citizens died waiting for federal and state aid. Thousands of Americans, mostly of meager means, were trapped in a dying city. Some of them did not make it out alive waiting for their countrymen to save them. In that sobering moment, much of the promise of the United States was betrayed. It is

A Fox News exclusive reported this morning by Jana Winter inexplicably buried the lede. Winter reports that several dead children have been discovered “washed up along the riverbank” of the Rio Grande, but fails to note that there have been no reports by the Obama administration on this. This indicates a pattern of covering up dead illegal alien kids by the Obama administration. It was two weeks before news was reported on the sole child death acknowledged by the Obama administration, Gilberto Ramos, a 15 year-old boy from Guatemala whose body was found in the Texas brush dead from the

Professor Stephen Hawking is backing the academic boycott of Israel by pulling out of a conference hosted by Israeli president Shimon Peres in Jerusalem as a protest at Israel´s treatment of Palestinians. Hawking, 71, the world-renowned theoretical physicist and former Lucasian Professor of Mathematics at the University of Cambridge, had accepted an invitation to headline the fifth annual president´s conference, Facing Tomorrow, in June, which features major international personalities, attracts thousands of participants and this year will celebrate Peres´s 90th birthday. Hawking is in very poor health, but last week he wrote a brief letter to the Israeli president to say he

President Obama is “absolutely” the most transparent president in history, White House press secretary Josh Earnest said Sunday after the White House received a letter from signed by a dozen top journalists’ groups complaining about the administration’s policies toward the media. “There are a number of steps that we´ve taken to give people greater insight into what´s happening at the White House,” Earnest said in an interview with CNN’s “Reliable Sources.” The letter, signed by the Society of Professional Journalists and the Poynter Institute, among others, accuses the White House of "politically driven suppression of news and information about federal agencies." It

First lady Michelle Obama grabbed the political reins during a speech to the League of United Latin American Citizens in New York City, telling the crowd of admirers not to worry — that her husband wouldn’t wait on Congress to take action on immigration reform. “So make no mistake about it — we have to keep on fighting as hard as we can on immigration,” Mrs. Obama said, to a cheering crowd, Breitbart reported. “And as my husband has said, he’s going to do whatever administrative action it takes to fix this broken system.” Mrs. Obama then vowed that Congress wouldn’t get

The U.S. deported Honduran children as young as 1-1/2 years old on Monday in the first flight since President Obama pledged to speed up the process of sending back illegal immigrant minors from Central America. Fleeing violence and poverty, record numbers of children from Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala have crossed into the United States over the past year, sparking intense debate about how to solve the problem. Monday´s flight from New Mexico to San Pedro Sula, the city with the highest murder rate in the world, returned 17 Honduran women, as well as 12 girls and nine boys, aged

In remarks framed as a message to the American public, actor Jon Voight emotionally aired his political grievances for several minutes in a televised statement on Saturday. Those grievances range from (but are not limited to) Benghazi, the IRS scandal, the "targeting" of conservative filmmaker Dinesh D´Souza, illegal immigration, the Hobby Lobby Supreme Court case, the treatment of war veterans, the chaos in Iraq and deep reservations about President Obama. "Five years ago, I stated that Obama would take the country apart piece-by-piece, that he would cause a civil war in this country," Voight read on Saturday in a statement on

Inquiring minds wonder if there’s a “G” in the grading repertoire. And that does not stand for “good.” Pollster John Zogby has given President Obama an “F” this week for the White House performance on the global stage, and the researcher has no imminent good news for the president. “Some people have really bad weeks. Brazil’s President Dilma Rousseff got an ‘F’ after the nation’s soccer team lost to Germany. But President Obama’s week was just as bad,” Mr. Zogby says. “Israel and the Palestinians are at war again. The president should have visited the U.S.-Mexican border, where so many immigrant children are in danger and so many

On July 16, comic character Archie Andrews, of Life With Archie, will die after being shot while protecting gay friend Kevin Keller. Keller is "Archie Comics´ first openly gay character." According to the Associated Press, Keller is "a married military veteran and newly elected senator who´s pushing for more gun control in Riverdale after his husband was involved in a shooting." Archie Comics´ publisher and co-CEO Jon Goldwater said the way in which Archie will die was carefully chosen. While he could have been killed saving "Betty" or saving "Veronica," doing so for Keller was something "that would really resonate

Attorney General Eric Holder said Sunday he and President Obama have been targets of “a racial animus” by some of the administration’s political opponents. “There´s a certain level of vehemence, it seems to me, that´s directed at me [and] directed at the president,” Holder told ABC. “You know, people talking about taking their country back. … There´s a certain racial component to this for some people. I don’t think this is the thing that is a main driver, but for some there´s a racial animus." Holder said the nation is in “a fundamentally better place than we were 50 years ago.” “We´ve

President Obama is known for being competitive on the basketball court, but he´s also apparently a cutthroat pool player. Gov. John Hickenlooper, D-Colo., told reporters at the National Governors Association meeting on Sunday that the president surprised him by beat him in two consecutive games. To add insult to injury, the two were playing at the Wynkoop Brewing Company, a bar that Hickenlooper co-founded. "You know I´ll tell ya -- the man is a shark," Hickenlooper told reporters, Time reports. "I was up a few balls. I felt pretty good. I was actually wondering whether how hard should I --

Where is the red line of impeachment? In theory, a red line might be located somewhere on a list of impeachable offenses – perhaps at the point where a certain number of transgressions is exceeded, or next to a specific instance because of its significance or impact. In reality, though, that red line exists along a spectrum of “political will.” As Andrew McCarthy explained: “You can have a thousand provable impeachable offenses, but before Congress may remove the president from power, there must be strong popular support – a public will that cuts across partisan and ideological lines.”
