Is One of the Most Famous Exonerations
in U.S. History About to Fall Apart?

American Thinker, by Dan Curry

One of the guidelines of liberal propaganda is that if you are going to lie, lie big. Global warming, Obamacare, Romney’s a heartless guy. It might be time to add to the list the famous Anthony Porter exoneration in Chicago in 1999. Not only is Porter likely guilty of the double murder he was initially charged with, an innocent man therefore sits in an east central Illinois prison serving a 37-year sentence. His probable framing was largely orchestrated by a since-discredited “journalism” professor and his students at Northwestern University, a cowed prosecutor’s office in Cook County, and a Chicago media that

He couldn´t even win a civil suit against the state, which requires far less hard evidence, yet media outrage managed to free him and wrongfully convict another man because a professor opposed to capital punishment, and his students, claimed to have proven he wasn´t guilty.

The Hobby Lobby decision has ignited liberals and unleashed their prejudice. And this ad is shameful. The New York Times has a full-page ad in its print edition today that should elicit protests around the nation (but likely won’t). Here is a copy from the website of the Freedom From Religious Foundation that wrote and paid for the ad (snip) what is worse is this line from the ad: “All-male, All-Roman Catholic Majority on Supreme Court Puts Religious Wrongs over Women’s Rights.” Anti-Catholicism apparently is no problem for this group. Should there be a religious test for public office or the highest court

Is same-sex parenting just like grandparents raising their orphaned grandchildren? The nations of the world say no. On second thought, try “Hell no.” But that doesn’t stop the shills for Big Gay, who stand to make billions off expanded gay “adoption” (I use that term loosely), from continuously drawing the lame parallel. Just check out this section of an article that ran in the Daily Beast, by Jay Michaelson, on the United Nations’ recent resolution protecting the rights of the family: So, an amendment was proposed – formally put forward by Uruguay – that would acknowledge that “various forms of the family exist.” This

It’s another case of bureaucrats gone wild, DC mandarins lavishing money on their own offices, and spending more per square foot on renovations to existing, perfectly usable office space than it cost to build lavish buildings like Trump World Tower and the Bellagio Hotel and Casino from scratch. But hey, four story glass staircases and two story waterfalls and sunken gardens aren’t cheap. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is one of the most powerful and least accountable agencies of the federal government. The intellectual spawn of Senator Elizabeth Warren created by the ill-considered Dodd-Frank law of 2010, when Democrats controlled Congress,

He actually said this: the system “is so broken” that “folks don’t know what the rules are." He was referring to the children’s crusade on our borders that has caused chaos as tens of thousands of people try to illegally enter America - a crisis he has created by lax, or no-enforcement, of our immigration laws and by issuing executive orders that basically re-created the Dream Act - a law that could not pass Congress. But the statement was just stunning in its disingenuousness and yet another example of the most hypocritical president in American history. Does anyone know what the rules of

The same failure-to-thrive cultural ennui gripping Italy, Japan, and a host of other “advanced countries” is evident among Americans of European descent. Katherine Peralta writes in US News: For the second year in a row, the number of non-Hispanic white deaths in 2013 outweighed the number of white births, signaling an increasingly older and diversified American public. Just when the media is beginning to really pressure Congress to grant Lois Learner immunity – “the American people need to know, so let her talk” – her lawyer plays the Sergeant Schultz card from Hogan’s Heroes. "I hear nothing, I see nothing, I know nothing!" He has validated Chairman Issa’s position on Lois Lerner being uncooperative, so why bother? This back-and-forth also has probably being going on for some time between Lerner’s legal teams and Congress, and now it is the former´s apparent public strategy. In this epic constitutional battle and the quest for transparency and justice, Lerner´s lawyer has to

I watched The Five discuss the preview of Megyn Kelly’s upcoming Bill Ayers interview. Bob Beckel is still claiming that Obama didn’t know Ayers – “met him once” – and the other four supposedly conservative journalists had nothing to contradict him with! Every reader of AT knows that Ayers and Obama worked together - that Ayers hired Obama for the biggest job of his life before becoming President – handing out $100 million dollars of the Annenberg Challenge grants to radical causes, instead of using it to help Chicago’s schoolchildren. ere is a preview of the interview from Fox: Stanley Kurtz at the Wall St. Journal:

Knowledge and understanding of psychopathy is now advancing, and at an accelerating rate, after a decades-long period of no growth and slow growth. Good thing! Take a deep breath everyone; Mitch McConnell, Thad Cochran and most of their Establishment buddies are bringing home the electoral bacon. The terrifying run of conservative candidates unseating the old-timers may finally be over. McConnell and Cochran each beat their conservative challengers, thus our heads can rest a little lighter on our pillows knowing that entrenched incumbency once again dominates the American electoral system. And rest assured that the repercussions of the Establishment’s win extend far beyond Kentucky and Mississippi. First and foremost, we won’t have to worry about another government shutdown.

Maybe we’ve been conned. There’s a growing recognition that Barack Obama is an incompetent poser, working out of his depth, and his administration is the gang that can’t shoot straight. There’s a lot of evidence to support that belief. Everything he touches becomes a bloody mess, like crushed bones and bits of flesh caught in the tracks of a tank slicing through a rank of soldiers (or civilians). Iraq, Syria, Egypt — all gone, as prospects for countries with a prosperous and democratic future. The “reset” with Russia, meant to ensure that America and the replacement republic of the old

A charter plane believed to be carrying immigrants arrived this evening at San Diego’s Lindbergh Field, apparently from Texas. Three Homeland Security buses arrived a few minutes later, trailed by numerous law enforcement vehicles. There is no information as to the buses´ destination. Earlier this week, federal officials said that 140 immigrants who had been detained crossing the border in Texas would arrive Friday. But since the blockade by protesters Tuesday at Murrieta, officials have declined to provide information about the movement of the immigrants.

President Obama has, except on fleeting occasions, routinely disdained the customary Oval Office language of compromise and coalition-building for the low arts of sophistry and belittlement. That was to be expected, given his background as a Chicago community organizer and product of that city´s corrupt Democrat political machine. But Obama has far exceeded dismal expectations. No previous American president employed the systematic distortion of fact and mendacious characterization of opponents that have typified Obama´s presidency. His "so sue me" speech last week is a classic illustration of the community organizer practicing Saul Alinsky´s 13th rule: “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize

The headline of today’s jobs report, that 288,000 jobs were created in the last month, is positive. At least, it is better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick. However, as with most economic reports these days, there is a veneer of good news — but when you look closer, the White House is using the positive headlines to hide the growing deterioration of the American workforce. I’m sure by now people are tired of reading about the bad news, and I’ll admit I am weary of having to blow the whistle and expose the truth every
