IRS at the Crossroads
Wall Street Journal, by Editorial

Congress´s investigation into IRS political targeting accelerated Wednesday, with a referral for the criminal prosecution of a former Treasury official and new evidence to back it up. In a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder, House Ways and Means Chairman Dave Camp recommends the Justice Department proceed on three probable criminal actions taken by former director of Exempt Organizations Lois Lerner. The letter, which was endorsed in a party-line Ways and Means vote Wednesday morning, discloses new evidence suggesting that Ms. Lerner used her position to single out conservative groups for scrutiny not applied to left-leaning groups. Investigators also charge that

Eric Holder and his Department of Justice will ignore the referral from Ways and Means. That is the Democrat administration way. When finally pushed by a federal judge, after the 2014 elections, Holder will say there is no basis for an investigation. Obama will be protected and the liberals will, again, call Eric Holder brilliant.

What should happen is a conserted push through the state amendment process if necessary to abolish the IRS and the marxist progressive income tax. When this process proceeds watch for the left to throw out one or more sacrificial lambs to pretend that the IRS has been reformed. As it stands the GOP is too gutless to do what should be done, and the RATS will stonewall any justice, the people who politicized the IRS will get an award for their "leadership" and the country will be a tyranny!

The House has their own justice dept. Why they are wasting time by allowing Holder to "investigate" is beyond me.

Holder is not going to take any action against Lerner.

Once again, democrats ignore our laws to protect one of their own. No normal person would look at the evidence against Lerner and try to protect her. Democrats have proven they are not normal. Never elect a democrat to any public office. Democrats do not know how to govern; they only know how to rule.

The Justice Department is politicized so don´t expect any meaningful action on Holder´s part. Heck, every agency and department is politicized thanks to the influx of democrats into every nook and cranny of government. When you see everything through the prism of ideology, your ability to think objectively goes out the window. Our government is actively working against one group of people to the benefit itself. This is tyranny.

The IRS should be investigated for a lot of things, this targeting included, but also for improper release of taxpayer information, union and political activity, politically motivated audits, failure to enforce tax laws against favorites such as Al Sharpton, and illegal and threatening behavior to citizens.

The same goes for the IRS...only the bus should have 100 on it just for starters!

It´s beach time, and you´ve probably already scanned a hundred lists of summer reads. Sadly overlooked is that other crucial literary category: the summer non-read, the book that you pick up, all full of ambition, at the beginning of June and put away, the bookmark now and forever halfway through chapter 1, on Labor Day. The classic of this genre is Stephen Hawking´s "A Brief History of Time," widely called "the most unread book of all time." How can we find today´s greatest non-reads? Amazon´s "Popular Highlights" feature provides one quick and dirty measure. Every book´s Kindle page lists the five

Californians Keep Up

LOS ANGELES — For all the doomsday proclamations about the historic drought that has this state in a chokehold, here is what Californians have done to save water: not much. In five months since the drought emergency was declared, Californians have cut their water consumption only 5 percent compared with recent years, according to state officials — a far cry from the 20 percent that Gov. Jerry Brown called for in January. So, faced with apparent indifference to stern warnings from state leaders and media alarms, cities across California have encouraged residents to tattle on their neighbors for wasting water — and

Inside the largest gathering of certified “geniuses” in human history, held in Boston this week, sits a table covered in stacks of stickers. The stickers are round dots, in four colors, and each person must pick a sticker and place it on their badge for the Annual Gathering of Mensa. It is part of a hugging game they play. A green dot means “hug freely.” Yellow means “ask first.” Red is a clear “no.” A Blue dot means you are single. “It’s kind of like a traffic light,” said Tom Schnorrenberg, a 40-year-old from Tewksbury who was staffing the sticker table, dressed

After celebrating our Declaration of Independence from the British oppressor, we will return to work Monday having consumed 155 million hot dogs and, for some 41 million of us, bucked traffic jams, long security lines at airports, or storm-induced flight delays in order to visit family or whatever place attracts us in this huge country of ours. The weekend began on a high note after a modestly strong jobs report on Thursday. Non-farm payroll employment, the “jobs” in the “jobs report,” rose by 288,000 in June, and the figures for April and May were revised upward by 29,000 jobs. The

Hillary Clinton says she’s “deeply disturbed” by the Supreme Court decision this week to uphold Hobby Lobby’s rights under the Religious Freedom Restoration Act. Basically, the former first lady, senator and secretary of state is saying the court is letting bosses who oppose contraception impose their religious views on employees. Of course, it does nothing of the kind. For one thing, Hobby Lobby has no objection to — and continues to pay for — 16 forms of birth control. It’s just one reason The Washington Post gave Hillary “Two Pinocchios” for her claims. It helps to remember that the 1993 law that determined

The tragedy of the Arabs

A THOUSAND years ago, the great cities of Baghdad, Damascus and Cairo took turns to race ahead of the Western world. Islam and innovation were twins. The various Arab caliphates were dynamic superpowers—beacons of learning, tolerance and trade. Yet today the Arabs are in a wretched state. Even as Asia, Latin America and Africa advance, the Middle East is held back by despotism and convulsed by war. Hopes soared three years ago, when a wave of unrest across the region led to the overthrow of four dictators—in Tunisia, Egypt, Libya and Yemen—and to a clamour for change elsewhere, notably in Syria.

Court documents filed by the U.S. Justice Department in the criminal case against Benghazi attack suspect Ahmed Abu Khatallah provide unprecedented details about the evolution of the assault and further shatter the Obama administration´s initial claim that it sprouted from protests over an anti-Islam film. The narrative that the video played a role continues to live on, with former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton saying recently that some of the attackers may indeed have been influenced by the online video. But the Justice Department´s court filings make clear that at least those spearheading the attack were part of a "conspiracy," one that

We all know the story of American independence, don’t we? A rugged frontier people became increasingly tired of being ruled by a distant elite. A group calling themselves Patriots were especially unhappy about being taxed by a parliament in which they were unrepresented. When, in 1775, British Redcoats tried to repress them, a famous Patriot called Paul Revere rode through the night across eastern Massachusetts, crying “The British are coming!” The shots that were fired the next day began a war for independence which culminated the following year in the statehouse in Philadelphia, when George Washington and others, meeting under

President Obama has, except on fleeting occasions, routinely disdained the customary Oval Office language of compromise and coalition-building for the low arts of sophistry and belittlement. That was to be expected, given his background as a Chicago community organizer and product of that city´s corrupt Democrat political machine. But Obama has far exceeded dismal expectations. No previous American president employed the systematic distortion of fact and mendacious characterization of opponents that have typified Obama´s presidency. His "so sue me" speech last week is a classic illustration of the community organizer practicing Saul Alinsky´s 13th rule: “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize

However, as with most economic reports these days, there is a veneer of good news — but when you look closer, the White House is using the positive headlines to hide the growing deterioration of the American workforce.
