House Committee Votes to Refer ex-IRS
Official Lois Lerner for Criminal Charges

Mediaite, by Noah Rothman

On Wednesday, the House Ways and Means Committee voted to refer former Internal Revenue Service official Lois Lerner to the Department of Justice for criminal prosecution. By a vote of 23 to 14, a closed-door session of the House committee determined that Lerner’s role in the alleged singling out of conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status for undue scrutiny was a criminal act. The vote was “just another attempt by Republicans to vilify Ms. Lerner for political gain,” according to the ex-IRS official’s attorney, William Taylor. In spite of the fact that the DOJ has already been investigating both Lerner and the alleged

Referring her to the Department of Injustice??? Yeah, I bet she loses a lot of sleep over this.

YUP - Obama has definitely upheld one promise: the fundamental transformation of the United States of America.

The only question now is can we ever change it back with all the newly entitled and their grievances against those who have things they actually worked for.

Lois "Stonewall" Lerner is collecting a cushy goobermint retirement. May she be living in 24-hour fear and anxiety, unable to enjoy it.

Thank you to the House Ways & Means Committee; however, this referral will get stacked with Benghazi and Fast & Furious. In a place never to be seen or heard from again.

Congressmen will not even be able to ask about it because it has just become "an ongoing investigation."

What a mess we are in.

I think it´s a mistake.

No criminal charges until a rational administration heads Justice. Otherwise, the forthcoming pardon will negate any real punishment. Sure, she may be on the hook for legal fees, but she will probably skate on those, as well.

If Holder fails to diligently follow through, he is toast.
There WILL be impeachment hearings as a test run for impeaching Obama

In this polarized environment (the worst I´ve seen since returning from Vietnam in 1969), the act of referring or recommending that Holder´s progressive DOJ criminally prosecute Lerner borders on insanity. Unless every Republican on the House Committee is insane (a possibility) then the referral is a cynical act by an impotent group of politicians trying to remain relevant. Remember, just yesterday Holder claimed a vast prosecutorial discretion, which is a cypher for his belief that at present he is above the law. The House has the inherent Constitutional authority to hold Lerner in contempt, hold a legislative hearing, and vote to imprison her. The process has not been used since 1934, when Congress issued a contempt order and imprisoned the respondent for 10 days. The Supremes would not set him free, in effect vindicating the process. If these congressmen who made the referral had the courage of their convictions, they would resurrect their inherent powers from the self-imposed 80 year suspended animation. I suppose courage from Congressmen is too much to expect.

What happens now? Nothing. Holder will do what he has done with every other investigation. The Republicans won´t push it because they do not want the responsibility of dealing with the consequences should the truth come out of because that would require bringing Articles of Impeachment against Obama. It is now not a matter of right and wrong. Everything hinges on political expediency and Obama knows it. Why do you think he continues with this lawlessness? He is totally confident in his ability to do what he wants when he wants to do it. This is what happens when good men do nothing, evil triumphs.

Though I have to agree that this a fruitless gesture, I don´t hear anyone offering a solution except maybe walk away. No matter how void of potential, it is imperative that this pressure must be kept on these criminals in DC and use this as fodder for the upcoming campaigns. What I fear is that the pubbies will soften "lies" to "could be a misrepresentation." "Crimes" will become "alleged or perhaps misconduct."

Until conservatives become hard hitting contenders carrying a message that expose the evil and lies of the liberals, nothing is going to turn around this downward race to oblivion.

The White House pushed back against a Republican subpoena for a top presidential adviser to testify this week, saying that summoning David Simas to Capitol Hill raised significant concerns about separation of powers. Nadine Gordimer, the South African writer whose literary ambitions led her into the heart of apartheid to create a body of fiction that brought her a Nobel Prize in 1991, died on Sunday in Johannesburg. She was 90. Her family announced her death in a statement. Ms. Gordimer did not originally choose apartheid as her subject as a young writer, she said, but she found it impossible to dig deeply into South African life without striking repression.
