New deal to purchase V-22s
relies on future US aid

Ynetnews [Israel], by Staff

Original Article

Despite recent tensions in relations between Israel and the United States, defense officials in the Jewish State are confident enough in the strength of the alliance to take on debt based on the expectation of future military aid. According to a Defense News report, Defense Minister Moshe Ya´alon has received government backing to purchase $2 billion in Pentagon-approved arms and aircraft, including the troubled V-22 tilt-rotor Osprey. After months of internal dialogue in the Finance Ministry and negotiations with the Pentagon´s defense contractors, Israel will enter into a US-approved deferred payment plan (DPP) to purchase the military

Comments:
It´s a risky scheme for a country to take on a $2 billon debt with the expectation that another country will, in future, give you financial aid to pay off your debt (especially when that other country has a $17 trillion debt of its own).

Play the odds. On its present course the US seems destined to give every one on Earth two billion $$ within the decade. So any one patriot in Israel could pay its debt.

Besides, the US taxpayers always get stuck. Bell-Boeing will get that into the fine print somewhere.

Bell-Boeing is the contractor. I didn´t know any entity still existed under the Bell name.

The way Obama, the left and arabs hate Israel, there had to be a hell of a lot of bribe money to get this deal done.I mean I´m all for Israel getting weapons to defend themselves but it´s all because Obama has sold out to our enemies.

As the whistleblowing NSA sysadmin Edward Snowden made his dramatic escape to Russia a year ago, a secret US government jet - previously employed in CIA "rendition" flights on which terror suspects disappeared into invisible "black" imprisonment - flew into Europe in a bid to spirit him back to America, the Register can reveal. On the evening of 24 June 2013, as Snowden arrived in Moscow from Hong Kong intending to fly on to Cuba, an unmarked Gulfstream V business jet - tail number N977GA - took off from a quiet commercial airport 30 miles from Washington DC. Thursday marks one year since the Guardian published the first in a series of eye-opening stories about surveillance based on documents provided by Edward Snowden. The events in the 52 weeks since have proven him to be the most significant whistleblower in American history – and have reverberated throughout the world. But along with the changes Snowden sparked, vital questions remain about how and if the National Security Agency and its global spy apparatus will truly be reformed. Many wheels are finally in motion, but will the US Congress and the courts actually respond in a meaningful way?

The former head of Iran´s nuclear program is laying out in detail how the U.S. and other intelligence agencies allegedly carried out a constant campaign of sabotage against his country. According to Fereydoon Abbasi, who spoke to an Iranian newspaper, the U.S. would prevent companies from sending equipment to Iran -- but would then put that kind of equipment on the black market, having ensured it would actually damage Iranian operations. He claims the U.S. would find out, via the U.N. nuclear agency, what parts Iran was trying to get and from whom, and plant everything from viruses to explosives

A leak of the major findings of a landmark Senate inquiry into the CIA’s post-9/11 torture of terrorism detainees led, on Friday, to intensified pressure on the White House and the CIA to release the inquiry speedily and with a minimum of redactions. The classified study, prepared by the Senate select committee on intelligence, concluded that the CIA’s interrogations, secret detentions and outsourced torture sessions were “brutal, and far worse than the agency communicated to policymakers.” More suspected terrorists underwent the agency’s post-9/11 treatment, which largely lasted from 2002 to 2006, than the CIA has publicly admitted,

Airlines in Ireland and China have looked into the concept, but none have yet put the idea into practice. Major carriers in the
