The Color of His Presidency

A few weeks ago, the liberal comedian Bill Maher and conservative strategist and pundit Bill Kristol had a brief spat on Maher’s HBO show, putatively over what instigated the tea party but ultimately over the psychic wound that has divided red America and blue America in the Obama years. The rise of the tea party, explained Maher in a let’s-get-real moment, closing his eyes for a second the way one does when saying something everybody knows but nobody wants to say, “was about a black president.” Both Maher and Kristol carry themselves with a weary cynicism that allows them to

The Tea Party was never about a black president.
In fact, the only ones talking race are the president and his Leftist supporters.
This, despite Obama´s attitude since day 1 has been "In yo´ face, whitey."
This useless piece of filth occupying the White House has set back race relations by 50 years.

No, the tea party got started because of idiots like Bill Kristol.

And because of a Marxist president, and a Marxist Senate. That ain´t all, but I´ll leave it there.

They chronically try and justify their stance, and turn into a pretzel doing it. I made it through 2 pages, and then it went beyond stupid. They will never understand, and Chait did at least admit that liberals find a racial component in every conservative argument. It must be exhausting to have to twist and turn to make their stereotype of a conservative workable.

This was ALWAYS about his color! Soros predicated Zippy´s runs for the presidency on race, using it to justify his lack of experience and the refusal to prove his eligibility, while lulling blacks into voting for him as a point of honor...and doing everything he could to divide the races! He then proceeded to slap America in the face, lie through his Marxist teeth while kicking us you know where.

Wasn´t Bill Clinton the first Black President? He said he was, and we all know if a Clinton says something you can take it to the bank!

It must be about him being a Hawaiian! It couldn´t be that people disagree with ´Fundamentally´ changing America, could it?

Furthermore, it´s unthinkable that one might think that any different viewpoints on topics ranging from Diet to Nuclear Disarmament be considered anything but Racism!!

The major drive for me was "universal health care." I would have been against Obama´s lefty policies anyway, no matter what he looked like, but standing far out in front was the promise of a health care system based on the British National Health System (NHS).

Obamacare is turning out to be so much worse than I anticipated--and is well on its way to making the NHS look far superior.

I suspect that attributing everything to racism is a convenient way for the liberals to ignore the fact that socialism is not working. A great anger is building out here in the heartland, and it´s not against black folks.

So, if the TP was about a black president, then the left is saying the TP didn´t really believe that government spending is out of control, that there needs to be more personal responsibility, etc.

There were sections of hilarity in this article. For instance about the Cambridge incident, "Obama’s response to the incident was telling: He positioned himself not as an ally of Gates but as a mediator between the two, as equally capable of relating to the white man’s perspective as the black man’s.

Perhaps Chait has forgotten Obama´s gem "the police acted stupidly." Obama´s initial reaction is always pro-black. It was public outcry from that comment that forced him to have the infamous beer summit.

I hate Obama because he´s a Red Marxist puppet. The TEA Movement started because both the dims and the repubics were spending us into oblivion and saddling us with stupefying regulations.

#9 has got it right. Socialism isn´t working but the communists will never admit it, so any opposition must because of skin color. They´re projecting again. The totalitarian elite are the real racists, treating black people like children that need nanny government to run their lives. Just look at how they vilified Clarence Thomas, Condoleza Rice, Allen West, and any black that dares to leave the Democrat Plantation.

The charge of "racism" against conservatives is just so much cow defecation.

Obama supporters believe: "the furious opposition marshaled against the first black president is a reaction to his race"

Obama opponents believe: "...with equal fervor, that this (what his supporters believe) is not only false but a smear concocted willfully to silence them."

Sounds about right.

Whenever anyone questions Obama´s actions, the race card comes out. His supporters DO appear to believe that any opposition to his policies is really racial. And that belief is used to hammer those who oppose him as being racially motivated to do so.

The water is thus muddied. It is, after all, difficult to prove a negative. So everything cranks to a halt.

The notion that Kristol and Maher could have an intelligent discussion on this subject is ludicrous. A stunt. Kristol is an ideologue, full of self-styled gravitas. Maher is a blockhead, a buffoon who says whatever pope into his dirty little pea brain just for a reaction.

Their encounter was intended to entertain. (Whom? Them?) It had no intellectual value. Illuminated nothing except what is mentioned about them in my first paragraph.

I pat myself on the back for making it through all 7 pages. Wasn´t easy. Chait is a bit disengenuous. He focuses entirely on his vision of Conservative racism, but never touches on the Libs own version of it. He would have had more credibility with me if he had. The most egregious error he made was letting Odumbdumb off the hook for Gatesgate. The Beer Summit wasn´t Barry the Peacemaker playing moderator, it was an event forced upon him in order to backtrack from his own racist remarks at the outset of the scandal. But then Chait is a lib, and I suppose honesty about Liberal racism it´s too much to expect from a lib.

Agree with #18, the racism of the liberals/progressives should have been discussed. But this, on page 7, deserves a look:

~~I recently asked Jonah Goldberg, a longtime columnist for National Review, why conservatives believed that Obama himself (as opposed to his less reticent allies) implied that they were racially motivated. He told me something that made a certain amount of sense. A few days before Obama’s inaugural address, at a time when his every utterance commanded massive news coverage, the president-elect gave a speech in Philadelphia calling for “a new declaration of independence, not just in our nation, but in our own lives—from ideology and small thinking, prejudice and bigotry—an appeal not to our easy instincts but to our better angels.”

What struck Goldberg was Obama’s juxtaposition of “ideology and small thinking”—terms he has always associated with his Republican opponents—with “prejudice and bigotry.” He was not explicitly calling them the same thing, but he was treating them as tantamount. “That feeds into the MSNBC style of argument about Obama’s opponents,” Goldberg told me, “that there must be a more interesting explanation for their motives.”

Well, it wasn´t about a "blaque president" in the beginning but it certainly is now and the reason it is about a "blaque president" is because this "blaque president" has made it all about a "blaque president" and "blaques" to the exclusion of every non-blaque bi-pedal in the U.S. and his blaque exclusion mantra is now the mantra of every 2.50 blaque self-abuser in the U.S. who have not a clue what their blaque separateness has created and is creating: a justified disgust and distain for "blaqueness" which is nothing more than a contemporary racial coin flip-side of the old KKK.

George Bush was the cause of the Tea Party as everyone knows. Per WSJ, one TP co-founder said Bush´s TARP started the TP for her. Nothing bothered the GOP in those days, losing the House and Senate with a sitting Repub. pres. no big deal to them. WSJ article Oct. 29, 2010 about TP origins quotes one of two women founders of the first big TP group saying Saxby Chambliss voting for TARP was the beginning of the TP for her.

The rumblings of protest began during the last days of George W. Bush and the hysteria over the imminent bank collapse solution from treasury secretary Paulson. The tea party began to form after the informative rant on the stock market floor by Rick Santelli. Having attended three very different tea party meetings, where ethnics of all stripes were noted in attendance; the color of the current president has not a thing to do with the anger of the people. At all meetings I attended, the emphasis has been on the economic condition of our country, education and the sorry state of morality..........not the color of anyone´s skin. We are worried about American´s skin, whether we the people will have any of our own skin left after they strip we the hard working people of our financial skin. Almost 18 trillion dollars now with no end in sight really bothers us.

The people obsessed with Obama´s blackness are the liberals who elected him. They couldn´t have voted against him for any reason . . . they would know that if anybody found out they hadn´t voted for Obama they´d be thought racist. Liberals have more white guilt than anybody because they have been taught and believe that the slightest bit of racial discrimination, even just differentiation, is evil racism. Unfortunately they can´t hide their own thoughts from themselves. So they have to love every single thing about a black president because if they find fault it might just be tainted by their awareness of his race . . . which suspicion, of course, rises to a certainty when they observe a fault finder who is a member of the Tea Party or a conservative.

TEA is an acronym for Taxed Enough Already - that´s all. It is eponymous in our Founding Father´s reaction to King George´s tax hikes by dumping all that tea into the Boston Harbor.

Libs today (including Jimmy Carter) would be on King George´s side because (1) he was a gun control freak and (2) he liked raising taxes. Enough said!

But my guess is that white America (and Tea Party included), fairly or not, will NOW think long and hard about voting for any black man or woman for president after America has had 8 years of the bitter Marxist Obama sabotaging America in every conceivable way.

The Tea Party has nothing to do with race and everything to do with the financial condition of our country. As others said, it began shortly after Rick Santelli, in February 2009, called for a modern-day Chicago Tea Party, where he reported from the floor of the Chicago Board of Trade. The immediate catalyst for his remarks was the Homeowner Affordability and Stability Plan.

After the financial problems of the final Bush years, this resonated with the American people.

President Obama re arrest of Professor Gates: “Cambridge police acted stupidly”.

Kathleen Sebelius comparing supporting Obamacare to: “the fight against lynching and the fight for desegregation.”

President Obama re Zimmerman/Martin: “a sense that if a white male teen was involved in the same kind of scenario that, from top to bottom, both the outcome and aftermath might have been different.”

President Obama re Senate rejection of his nominee, Debo Adegbile, to head the Civil Rights Department of the Department of Justice: The vote was a “travesty” and “denied the American people an outstanding public servant.” (Adegbile, the “outstanding public servant”, had worked diligently for the release of radical activist Mumia Abu-Jamal. Jamal, who was convicted of murdering a police officer, had, for years, encouraged the murdering of police officers).

From Judicial Watch: “Judicial Watch investigated and after suing the DOJ, obtained explosive documents that show Obama political appointees were intimately involved in the decision to dismiss the voter intimidation case against the Black Panthers. The documents directly contradict sworn testimony by Obama’s Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division, Thomas Perez, that no political leadership was involved in the decision.”

The only Tea party "darlings" are those who understand conservative values and stick to them. A perfect example is Sarah Palin, someone who lives rent free in the heads of liberals and #6. That is the fundamental argument, in my opinion. The tea party supports what is right, and RINOS go whichever way the wind blows.
Bill Kristol is about Bill Kristol, and my problem with him is that he analyses are consistently wrong; a condition that shows he thinks like a liberal. He sees what he wants, not what is. Bill Maher is not worth anyone´s time.

Hillary Clinton appeared Tuesday on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart to promote her book, "Hard Choices." Stewart briefly discussed the 656-page tome about Clinton´s tenure as secretary of state and then asked exactly what everyone is wondering. "No one cares," about the book, he said. "They just want to know if you´re running for president." Stewart, like so many, tried to get the answer -- even telling Clinton that it sounded like she had just declared that she was running. Like so many others Stewart couldn´t confirm anything, but he gets points for asking the most creative questions.

Politicians in Germany have devised an ingenious solution to combat the threat of eavesdropping by American spies: playing classical music during their meetings. MPs who sit on the spying committee had become so concerned that US agents might listen in to their discussions that they had ordered classical music to be played, to drown out the discussions. The National Health Interview Survey, which is the government’s premier tool for annually assessing Americans’ health and behaviors, found that 1.6 percent of adults self-identify as gay or lesbian, and 0.7 percent consider themselves bisexual. The overwhelming majority of adults, 96.6 percent, labeled themselves as straight in the 2013 survey. An additional 1.1 percent declined to answer, responded “I don’t know the answer” or said they were “something

Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl hasn’t spoken to his family since he was released from captivity in Pakistan, according to an Army official. Sgt. Bergdahl has refused to see his parents or speak to them on the phone, the official said. The decision by Sgt. Bergdahl, who returned to regular duty on Monday, suggests a deeper estrangement between the soldier and his parents than the military understood when he was released. Still, officials said, they don’t know the precise cause of the tension or when it began. Sgt. Bergdahl’s father, Robert Bergdahl, emerged as a fierce advocate for his son during the five years

A new Washington Post-ABC News poll finds widespread public disapproval of the way President Obama and Republicans in Congress are handling the influx of unaccompanied foreign children at the southern border as the two sides engage in a fierce debate over how to stem the crisis. Nearly 6 out of 10 Americans are not happy with Obama’s performance in dealing with the tens of thousands of minors who have arrived from Central America in recent months, overwhelming Border Patrol stations. All told, 58 percent disapprove of his management on the issue, including 54 percent of Latinos

A pro-Israel rally in New York City was disrupted on Monday by a loud counter-rally for the Palestinian side of the conflict, with both sides straining to have their voices heard over one another at a particularly raucous event on the steps of City Hall. The pro-Palestinian contingent encircled the featured event and chanted in unison. "You do not speak for us!" they shouted. "The occupation has gotta go!" The event, which was organized by Jewish City Council members,

Bill Ayers’ recent appearance on Megyn Kelly’s Fox News program appears to be part of a systematic campaign to whitewash the activities of the communist terrorists who were murdering policemen and FBI agents during the 1960s and 70s, and to set the stage for their release and rehabilitation. Kelly was unprepared for the interview and failed to consult prominent experts on the case, such as former FBI agent Max Noel. “I’m extremely disappointed, as are a number of us who actually worked the WUO [Weather Underground Organization] case on a daily basis, in your attempt to ‘confront him’ without availing yourself

The U.S. deported Honduran children as young as 1-1/2 years old on Monday in the first flight since President Obama pledged to speed up the process of sending back illegal immigrant minors from Central America. Fleeing violence and poverty, record numbers of children from Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala have crossed into the United States over the past year, sparking intense debate about how to solve the problem. Monday´s flight from New Mexico to San Pedro Sula, the city with the highest murder rate in the world, returned 17 Honduran women, as well as 12 girls and nine boys, aged

The Obama administration quietly announced on Tuesday that it intends to change the way Americans learn about natural disasters and other major emergencies during radio and TV broadcasts, giving the president the ability to flip a switch and address the entire nation at once. The Emergency Alert System, the latest version of a program first established in 1951, blasts out emergency messages in the event of local weather emergencies, but can also be used to warn Americans about terror attacks and major natural disasters. In his message to the “Mexico/Holy See Colloquium on Migration and Development,” Pope Francis characterized the tens of thousands of illegal immigrants that have crossed the U.S. southern border as a product of globalization, suggesting that the phenomenon is happening worldwide. Francis proclaimed, “Despite the large influx of migrants present in all continents and in almost all countries, migration is still seen as an emergency, or as a circumstantial and sporadic fact, while instead it has now become a hallmark of our society and a challenge.” Emmer McCarthy for Vatican Radio said Francis expressed his concern for “the tens of thousands of

The First Lady of these United States has declared war on Chick-fil-A. It seems the home of plump juicy breasts and hot buttered buns has run afoul of the new Smart Snacks in School program. The program is a component of Mrs. Obama’s Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010. The new government regulations require snack items served in public schools to have less than two hundred calories. That includes vending machines, lunch rooms and other campus food venues. And that’s really bad news for kids at South Carolina’s Socastee High School. They’ve just learned they will no longer be allowed to buy Chick-fil-A

“Trust” is for Con Men: The reaction to the border chaos in Texas has accomplished one thing: It has exploded the lie at the heart of current “comprehensive” immigration reform plans. The basic structure of those plans is a swap of a) near-immediate legalization for b) increased border security in the future. The appealing idea is to let current illegals stay while taking the steps necessary to prevent further waves. The lie is the assumption that, once current illegals get their legalization, pro-immigrant activists in both parties will continue to support the second half of the bargain, the increased security. John McCain, an immigration hawk. Who knew? Mr. McCain, the highest-profile Republican of the U.S. Senate’s “Gang of Eight” that came up with amnesty as the solution to the immigration crisis — and it truly is a crisis — is finally taking a hard line against President Obama for his encouraging the tidal wave of illegal aliens swamping the southwestern border. “There has to be a halt to this,” Mr. McCain thundered Sunday on CNN. “That’s what we want, and the best way to do that is for planeloads of these young people to be returning to their country of origin

It had to come sometime, and it came in one very bad week for the Democrats: that the many big problems with Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama finally grew too great for the press to ignore. Obama in his own different way is heading towards Nixon-like levels of weirdness, as, beaten down by the failures regarding his ventures, he appears to have quit his own job. A.B. Stoddard of the Hill says in effect he has stopped being president and chooses to live in a world of his own, shutting out the problems that have become overwhelming, giving dinners where he talks

Senate Budget Committee ranking member Sen. WASHINGTON — It was an enduring image of his presidency: a chastened Bill Clinton walking his dog while wife Hillary keeps her distance as the family leaves town at the height of the Monica Lewinsky scandal — but it was all part of a contrived public-repentance campaign, according to a new book. With Bill on the skids and his wife’s future prospects on the line, it was necessary for the pubic to see the president being punished, said Weekly Standard online editor Daniel Halper in his new book, “Clinton, Inc.: The Audacious Rebuilding of a Political Machine.” “They understood that
