It’s the Democrats’ turn
for a ‘culture of corruption’

Washington Times, by Joseph Curl

“Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men.” — Lord Acton. In the run-up to the 2006 mid-term elections, crucial to President George W. Bush’s plans for his last two years in office, scandal reared its hideous head. Again and again. And just for the Republicans. First, House Majority Leader Tom DeLay resigned in disgrace after he was charged with violating campaign finance laws and money laundering. Then, Rep. Duke Cunningham pleaded guilty to a slew of federal charges like bribery, fraud, tax evasion. And right before Election Day, Rep. Mark Foley

Had the loathsome MSM any intention of informing the public about Democrat corruption we would have had an impeached Barack Obama long ago, not to mention an impeached Eric Holder and an impeached Hillary Clinton. The loathsome MSM will, as is its duty in 2014, keep the Celebration of Ignorance (rule by Democrat) afloat with all the misinformation and misdirection it possibly can. Any annoying indictment of a Democrat will be dealt with in the context of that grand strategy. Not to worry.

The Dems offer freebies and it seems more people vote their stomachs instead of what is good for the country overall. In voting for their stomachs and ignoring what´s good for the country, they are eventually destroying their own lives ultimately and turning their lives over to the government thus becoming slaves and losing all freedoms for everyone. But they´ll continue to vote their stomachs instead of using good reason much like unreasoning animals until all is lost.

Obama gets ditched

DENVER | Colorado Democrats ducking President Obama’s speech here Wednesday morning are drawing hoots for their less-than-convincing excuses. Sen. Mark Udall wasn’t able to catch a flight back in time to join Mr. Obama at Cheesman Park. Gov. John Hickenlooper let it be known he was already slated to speak in Colorado Springs, while congressional candidate Andrew Romanoff reportedly had a scheduling conflict. Not surprisingly, in a state where the president is not exactly a political asset, nobody is buying it. “Embattled Colorado Democrats flee from Obama,” said a Tuesday press release from the Colorado Republican Party. White House requests $3.7 billion in

The White House on Tuesday formally requested $3.7 billion in emergency funding from Congress to deal with an influx of Central American minors along the southern border. But the proposal was quickly met with broad skepticism among Republican lawmakers, who were doubtful that the package would be approved quickly — if at all. Administration officials said the request is part of a comprehensive strategy aimed at building more detention centers, adding immigration judges, and beefing up border patrols and air surveillance. President Obama has said he hopes such steps will both speed deportations and discourage adults from sending children on

First they came for blacks, and we said nothing. Then they came for Latinos, poor people and married women, and we again ignored the warning signs. Now, after our years of apathy, they’re coming for us: the nation’s millennials. Across the country, Republican state policymakers have hoisted barriers to voting by passing voter-ID laws and curtailing electoral accommodations such as same-day registration and early voting. These policy changes are allegedly intended to eradicate the imagined scourge of voter fraud, but the real point seems to be voter suppression. For a time, the targeted populations were primarily racial,

The divided states of Obama

The headline — “Poll: Obama worst president since World War II” — was both provocative and misleading. The Quinnipiac University survey did, indeed, place President Obama at the top of the worst since FDR. But this was largely a measure of partisan concentration. Republicans were united in their unfavorable historical judgment of Obama. Democrats divided their votes (and would insist, I’d imagine, that they have more options to choose from). We already know that Obama is a highly polarizing figure. But beneath the headline, the poll identified serious problems for the president. Fifty-four percent of respondents said the Obama administration

On either end of Lafayette Square on Monday, you could observe the receding power of the Obama presidency. On the north side, across from the White House, stands St. John’s Episcopal Church, “the Church of the Presidents,” where every president since James Madison has worshiped. But there was no sanctuary for President Obama at St. John’s on Monday; it was hosting a protest against him. More than 100 Latinos — a constituency that has been a reliable part of Obama’s political base — stood on the church steps as speakers denounced Obama’s pledge to hasten deportations of children illegally crossing

The gun-control group founded by former New York mayor Michael R. Bloomberg (I) on Monday will begin surveying all federal candidates in the 2014 midterm elections on gun issues as it tries to become a political counterweight to the National Rifle Association. This is the first big step by Bloomberg — who has committed to spending $50 million of his personal fortune this year to build a national grass-roots movement that will pressure lawmakers to pass more restrictive gun laws — to devise a political strategy heading into the November elections. The walls seem to be closing in on the Obama presidency. Iraq and Syria are overrun with terrorists. Violence is flaring in Ukraine and on Israel’s borders. A humanitarian crisis is developing on our own southern border, but immigration legislation, like most all legislation, is moribund. Probes of the veterans’ health-care system, the IRS and Benghazi are sucking up attention and the administration’s time. With much of Washington already gone for the holiday, the Supreme Court issued a short legal ruling Thursday with the potential to deepen the political backlash among Democrats that was sparked by the court’s earlier Hobby Lobby decision. The majority of the justices ruled that Wheaton College, a small evangelical school in Illinois, does not for now have to comply with the Obama administration’s requirement that it fill out a form to register religious objections to providing some types of contraceptive coverage mandated by the Affordable Care Act. The opinion said that until full arguments are heard by the court,

After making fighting income inequality an early focus of his second term, President Obama has largely abandoned talk of the subject this election year in a move that highlights the emerging debate within the Democratic Party over economic populism and its limits. During the first half of this year, Obama shifted from income inequality to the more politically palatable theme of lifting the middle class, focusing on issues such as the minimum wage and the gender pay gap that are thought to resonate with a broader group of voters. The pivot is striking for a president who identified inequality as

Obama knows this. Opening our borders to a flood of illegal immigrants is deliberate. This is his fundamental transformation of America. It’s the only promise he has kept. WASHINGTON — Congressional Democrats said Tuesday that they had developed legislation to override the Supreme Court decision on contraceptives. The bill would ensure that women have access to coverage for birth control even if they work for businesses that have religious objections. The bill, developed in consultation with the Obama administration, would require for-profit corporations like Hobby Lobby Stores to provide and pay for contraceptive coverage, along with other preventive services, under the Affordable Care Act. The measure could be on the Senate floor as early as next week, Senate Democrats said. “Your health care decisions are not your boss’s

President Obama evidently has decided not to put a human face on the crisis unfolding at the U.S. southern border—not even his own. The White House said over and over again Monday that Obama will not travel to the border with Mexico despite flying to Texas this week to raise money for Democratic candidates there. It´s certainly in part a political decision, one meant to avoid taking ownership of a difficult issue on which the White House would prefer to share blame. (Snip) In other words, if Obama goes goes to the border, he owns the problem. If he doesn't, he's blasted for a lack of leadership.
