NYCHA units see spike in crime
that outpaces city, leaving residents in fear

New York Daily News, by Rocco Parascandola , Sarah Ryley*

In the sometimes separate world of public housing, a realistic fear of crime lingers over 400,000 tenants — and it’s getting worse. Many of the working people and elderly who make up the vast majority of New York City Housing Authority residents live in a constant state of hyper-awareness to avoid becoming a victim. Records obtained exclusively by the Daily News reveal that in the last five years, public housing tenants have been battered by a stubbornly resilient spike in crime. NYCHA’s 334 projects saw a 31% spike in major crime to an eight-year high, while the rest of the city

But...but...libtard Cuomo fixed this by the safe act. Snort. Move those projects into Manhatten where the libtards live and you´ll see the safe act disappear like magic.

New York City is famous for being a gun-free zone.....except for the criminals. Thanks to an unarmed citizenry, the safety of criminal class is assured.

Moviegoers heading to Dinesh D’Souza’s America over the July 4 weekend probably aren’t expecting much star power, so they might be surprised when celebrities like Bono, Matt Damon and Woody Harrelson pop up on screen. While President Obama, Chris Matthews and Al Sharpton -- as well as Hillary Clinton -- are portrayed as disciples of Saul Alinsky, the movie also indicts Damon and Harrelson as members of the left who actively undermine the idea of “American exceptionalism” through their work and their status as celebrities. "It´s fun to make our points through illustrations using recognizable figures from popular culture. We

After apparently becoming incensed with a CNN anchor, Joan Rivers cut short a taped nationally televised interview. The Fashion Police personality walked off of a CNN Newsroom interview with host Fredricka Whitfield after the conversation turned to her boundaries when telling jokes. "This whole interview is becoming a defensive interview," Rivers said, also protesting that Whitfield´s line of questioning was mainly "negative." "You are not the one to interview a person who does humor, sorry," she added, before walking off the set. Whitfield later stated that she at first wondered if Rivers walking out of the interview was a stunt.

Deceitful. That is the best way to describe a Los Angeles Times report about five protesters arrested yesterday in Murrieta, CA. Nowhere in the story are the identities of the protestors indicated; whether they are pro-amnesty or against the dumping of the illegals in a federal facility in their city. Although the truth is very carefully avoided in the Los Angeles Times, you can find it right way in the headline at the Gateway Pundit: "FIVE COUNTER-PROTESTERS ARRESTED During Tense Standoff at Murrieta Illegal Immigrant Rally." The co-conspirators in the Los Angeles Times attempt to keep its readers from learning

Just in time for Independence Day, an old lefty teacher has trotted out a bunch of tired canards about the American Revolutionary War. Writing for a website called The Zinn Education Project, the teacher, Bill Bigelow, also manages to criticize American firework displays on the Fourth of July because “the United States is waging war with real fireworks around the world.” Bigelow claims that “U.S. drone attacks have killed at least 2,600 people in five countries, including as many as 247 children” since 2001. He also charges that the Iraq War began in 2003 with “shock and awe” – which

In recent weeks, the Obama administration has been making tough statements about the more than 50,000 illegal alien children, unaccompanied by adults, who have rushed the border and turned themselves in, hoping to gain entry to the U.S. The White House has stated flatly that they “can’t stay” and will be returned home. “Do not send your children to the borders. If they do make it, they’ll get sent back. More importantly, they may not make it,” Obama said to ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos. Some of them — eventually — may be deported. But it appears that the vast majority

In more than a decade on the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan, American forces have never been routed. American combat units have suffered extensive casualties, but they have never disintegrated into a helpless mass of individual soldiers, capable of nothing more than a desperate flight for safety. This achievement should not be taken for granted. Today, the armed forces grapple with a trillion dollars of defense cuts that are impairing readiness. And today is an appropriate time to reflect on the costs of unpreparedness: It was on this day in 1950 that American forces suffered the first of a series

Voter fraud is so rare “you’re more likely to get hit by lightning than find a case of prosecutorial voter fraud,” according to Judith Browne-Dianis, co-director of the liberal Advancement Project. Apparently lightning has struck very hard in a local primary election according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune whose only real reference to voter fraud in the past two years was to reprint a St. Louis Post-Dispatch editorial mocking the possibility of its existence as "GOP voter suppression efforts." What has made the Star Tribune suddenly discover the (GASP!) existence of voter fraud is that it was allegedly perpetrated by

President Barack Obama is fond of describing the deep inequality afflicting American society. And then he goes off to play golf. He´s getting near the 200-round mark for his entire presidency, a sporting feat perhaps worthy of Teddy Roosevelt for its sheer audacity. Golf is the most unequal sport in America, demanding expensive fees or country club memberships. Yet if the president plays it so often, golf must be inherently patriotic--right? So, while visiting Chicago, in the Fourth of July spirit, I recovered an old set of clubs from my parents´ garage and headed to the local nine-hole. My brother

It wasn’t exactly a reprise of the photo of Farmer-Laborite Gov. Floyd B. Olson speaking to thousands in Powderhorn Park that helped to spark Ed Felien’s idea, but his attempt to organize a Minneapolis version of London’s famed Speakers’ Corner at least drew a few curious onlookers on Friday. Felien’s open invitation to Minneapolitans to gather in the park for some old-fashioned July 4 oratory drew a score of speakers, and an audience that topped at 22, many of them those same speakers. This being Minneapolis, and more specifically the Powderhorn neighborhood, the politics ran from left to lefter.

But a Monmouth University/Asbury Park Press poll released this week showed about 51 percent of New Jersey voters disapprove of Obama´s performance, while 45 percent approve of his work. Earlier this week, federal officials said that 140 immigrants who had been detained crossing the border in Texas would arrive Friday. But since the blockade by protesters Tuesday at Murrieta, officials have declined to provide information about the movement of the immigrants.

President Obama has, except on fleeting occasions, routinely disdained the customary Oval Office language of compromise and coalition-building for the low arts of sophistry and belittlement. That was to be expected, given his background as a Chicago community organizer and product of that city´s corrupt Democrat political machine. But Obama has far exceeded dismal expectations. No previous American president employed the systematic distortion of fact and mendacious characterization of opponents that have typified Obama´s presidency. His "so sue me" speech last week is a classic illustration of the community organizer practicing Saul Alinsky´s 13th rule: “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize

The headline of today’s jobs report, that 288,000 jobs were created in the last month, is positive. At least, it is better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick. However, as with most economic reports these days, there is a veneer of good news — but when you look closer, the White House is using the positive headlines to hide the growing deterioration of the American workforce. I’m sure by now people are tired of reading about the bad news, and I’ll admit I am weary of having to blow the whistle and expose the truth every
