Chevron Takes Battle To Radical

Litigation: After thwarting a $9.5 billion judgment from an Ecuadorean court, Chevron is going after the entire edifice of environmentalist enablers who make such junk lawsuits possible. Couldn´t happen to a nicer bunch. To the surprise of many, the oil giant is suing the tony, white-shoe law firm of Patton Boggs for alleged unethical involvement in an all-out legal attack by environmentalists over rainforest pollution in Ecuador. Chevron accuses the oh-so-respected firm of lying, concealing inconvenient facts, running a public smear campaign and miscellaneous other flim-flammery, all for the sake of the dollar signs spinning in their eyes. This poses

Forty years ago Patton Boggs was a very reputable Washington, DC law firm. It appears that having fallen upon hard times they are now resorting to BS law suits. As a Chevron stockholder I hope the company takes all those guilty to the cleaners and bankrupts Patton Boggs. Take no prisoners. Teach them a lesson.

If you need to buy gasohol then Chevron is a good source as any. Otherwise shop around locally for sources of uncontaminated gasoline. They are out there to fuel boats, rec vehicles, motorcycles, small engines that would be destroyed by alcohol. Better gas mileage to boot.

And better for the environment.

Parliamentarians from across the aisle submitted a draft constitutional reform on Thursday, requesting that the length of presidential terms be extended to six years, arguing that the current term — four years without the possibility of re-election — is not long enough to deliver a major presidential program. Should the reform ultimately succeed, it would represent the fifth time in Chile’s history that a constitutional reform has altered the length of a presidential term. “A period of four years is not enough to manage and develop large projects,” Socialist Party (PS) Dep. Christian Urízar said, according to La Nación. “The current system

SAN DIEGO - A third plane filled with Central American immigrants landed at Lindbergh Field Monday morning as protests continued at the Border Patrol station in Murrieta. Three Department of Human Services buses shuttled some 140 immigrants from the plane to a Border Patrol station in San Ysidro. Once they arrived, agents wearing plastic gloves conducted pat downs on some of the Central American immigrants. Protesters waited for the immigrants in Murrieta, about 80 miles north of San Ysidro. It was not immediately clear where the immigrants would be taken. Some protesters held signs that read, "If fences don´t work, why does the White

The Australian government has admitted it has 153 people, including children, in custody at sea while it fights a High Court challenge to any plans to send them back to Sri Lanka. Until Tuesday´s court hearing in Melbourne, the government had refused to confirm or deny it was holding the suspected asylum seekers, in line with its policy of not commenting on operational matters under "Operation Sovereign Borders." All those on board are thought to be Tamils who left the Indian port of Pondicherry on a 72-foot boat in mid-June. The White House said over and over again Monday that Obama will not travel to the border with Mexico despite flying to Texas this week to raise money for Democratic candidates there.
