Issa calls meeting next week to weigh
contempt against ex-IRS official Lerner

Fox News, by Chad Pergram

Original Article

Posted By:KarenJ1, 4/3/2014 2:08:58 PM

A House committee will meet next week to consider whether to hold former IRS official Lois Lerner in contempt of Congress, Rep. Darrell Issa announced Thursday. The former IRS official has twice appeared before Congress, and twice invoked her Fifth Amendment right not to answer questions, regarding the IRS targeting scandal. But Republicans argue she waived that right -- and have scheduled a meeting of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee on April 10 to weigh contempt. They say she played a key role in the agency´s practice of singling out conservative groups seeking non-profit status for extra scrutiny.

They´re meeting to consider it?? Are you kidding me? Why didn´t they hold her in contempt after that last disastrous appearance?? If any business in this country was run as incompetently as the government we would have no businesses in America because they would all go bankrupt. It´s so frustrating!!

Agree with OP.Why so long to get to this point? The vote for contempt should be a slam dunker and if it is not that itself should raise a lot of questions.

Any contempt charges should carry wording that, if charged, the Sergeant At Arms shall be directed to escort Ms. Lerner to a D.C. jail cell and held for the duration of the length of time that she delayed the oldest 501(c)4 application...or until she´s ready to squawk.

Why next week? Why not today? Why not 6 months ago? A year ago?

If Boehner is obstructing Issa`s investigation then Issa needs to publicly say so or drop the investigation and state why.

Be a man Darrell and call for a special prosecutor. You have plenty of money so what is it?

I exempt Trey Gowdy from #13s broad condemnation. I think he called for Lois Lerner´s contempt citation immediately after she first claimed the 5th after stating she had done nothing wrong. Too bad Trey Gowdy isn´t Chair of the committee. I think Issa is stalling like all the establishment. Make the peons think you are doing something, but don´t do anything is John Boehner´s motto.

My gut reaction is as all the above, but I have to give Issa some quarter in all this. He is working against unattainable odds. Filing contempt charges sounds great, but we have a traitor squatting in OUR HOUSE throwing every rusty wrench from his stash of trash in the works to jamb the gears. Sitting in our highest court whose purpose is the defense of our rights is the communist Eric Holder that is laying down a trail of slime around the squatter and their minions such as Lerner, that no one can get through.

By constantly exposing this blatant stonewalling about the criminality of this regime appears to be the only ploy that might have some potential. She should be hauled off to jail, but she won´t because EH has the cuffs and will never take them off his belt.

If Issa, Gowdy, Gomert and a few others can keep this mess front and center, the GOP can take the Senate in November. Then the game changes.

Right now all we have is bluster and subterfuge to keep this front and center.

Contempt charges? Ok, but then what? Grovel in front of EH and beg for some help? Not a viable solution in any form until the Senate gets put back in the hands of Real Patriotic Americans, and these traitors like EH, Reid, Pelosi get thrown out and hopefully hauled off in chains.

Political expediency is running the show. Had this been about right and wrong, Ms. Lerner would either be in jail or singing like a canary. Very few in Washington DC do anything without weighing it through the prism of a desired political outcome. Chips never fall where they may. I believe the hold up is the Republicans aversion to any possible action that would be required if the truth were revealed about how this came to be. The fingers would point directly to Obama and that just can´t happen. The republicans do not want the responsibility that would be required. They know the consequences of filing Articles of Impeachment and they want no part of it. We all know what would happen. The democrats with the help and support of the media would scream racism and civil unrest would erupt. Obama would make sure of it. He´s just chomping at the bit to do some community organizing on the national level. It would put the focus exactly where he wants it in 2014. Because republican messaging stinks, they would be unprepared for the barrage against them, as usual. They failed to act when the iron was hot when the American people actually were enraged to hear of Ms. Lerner´s crimes. Justice delayed is justice denied.

We´ll put me down for contempt FOR Congress. While I applaud Issa, Gowdy, and a few others for their efforts, mewling and toothless though they may be, I am left with utter exasperation at how totally leaderless the Republican Party is at this critical, and potentially fatal, period in our country´s history.

Boehner and McConnell MUST be replaced. They not only have no courage, but also they have absolutely no strategy. It´s as though the party got swept up by the tornado in the Wizard of Oz and we ended up with the cowardly lion and the brainless scarecrow as our leaders.

Don´t parties have a "platform" any more? You know, where they go on the record regarding what principles and policies they commit to defending and enforcing? If so, can anyone here discern exactly what the Republican Party´s current platform is? I can´t. I mean, other than, "We´re sorta like them, and the parts that are different, we don´t want to fight for but instead sorta stall until the next election." Disgusting.

Without the supplemental funding, Johnson told lawmakers, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement will run out of money sometime in
