Fox News´ Chief Intelligence correspondent Catherine Herridge has followed the Benghazi story since it happened, providing exclusive reports on what happened on the ground and what occurred within the Obama administration in the aftermath. On Happening Now this morning, she explained what the viewer should take away from today´s House Intelligence Committee hearing on the heavily scrutinized Benghazi talking points.Former CIA Acting Director Michael Morell has faced accusations that he downplayed, or even dismissed, the reporting of U.S. personnel on the ground in Libya, including the CIA chief of station. According to a Senate Intelligence Committee report, the station chief wrote

Looks like he´s taking the fall for the failures of the State Department and the White House. If he´s the one who altered the reports, then Hillary and the President can´t be faulted.

I wonder what his payoff is going to be...

Catherine Herridge has busted her butt getting inside info and doing an outstanding job of reporting the Benghazi story and really had a look of dismay on her face after the hearing ended today. Most of what I got out of today´s hearing is that this Morell guy has spent 33 years of distinguished service to his country and, apparently, that we should believe whatever he tells us. What a farce!!

These Republican committee chairmen are scoring zero in my book for accomplishing nothing. Who has been indicted and who has gone to jail? Nobody!! Who will be indicted and go to jail. Nobody!!

Very disturbing to this right-wing nut!!!

I was only able to watch the opening statements this morning but that was all that was needed to know that this would be another big ´zero.´ Morell lied from the beginning and to think this guy was in charge and didn´t believe his chief of station is just abominable. The analysts in DC know more about what is happening on the ground than the guy there is just plain nuts.

I am suspicious of people when they have to read the answers. He took a big chance by having the answers available by ??? what questions they would ask.

#8 nails it. Of ALL the FOX women, Catherine is the real journalist, IMHO. It´s not about cute it´s about doing a superior job of bringing us the relevant pointed facts. Of course, she is beautiful as well. That said, until, until the federal employees at every level have the rules changed, are no longer protected when they lie, cheat or steal to protect their own sorry pensions and jobs, we will continue to attract people of dubious character to the top government jobs. Just a fact.

Thank you #s 8 & 12. My thoughts exactly about Catherine Herridge and her work on Benghazi. Almost posted as much a couple of times today.

She is indeed beautiful and dresses very nicely, but her focus is always on the subject matter at hand. The hard, serious, professional work behind her reports is reassuringly obvious. She is a shining example of excellence in journalism, and much appreciated in these days when there is so little of it.

I find the apparent self-awareness of legs, wardrobe, hair and overall "hotness" to be an irritating distraction from the content of reporting among so many women in the news business. Many of the men are just as irritating for one reason or another. Guess I´m tired of all the "showbiz" in the news business. I rarely watch news programs anymore. Much prefer to read news articles first (and the comments about them here at l.com) in most instances.

Her writing and her commentary on Fox are the most concise, accurate and reliable reports on Benghazi or any other foreign affairs subject she takes on.

She summed up Morell´s pathatic testimony this morning in about three sentences.

Fox´s Catherine Herridge and Jennifer Griffin are Nos. 1 and 2, respectively, in the reporting on foreign affairs in general and Benghazi inparticular.

Others we do not miss are John Bolton (on foreign affairs) and Chris Stirewalt on anything he chooses to talk about.

I believe Herridge over the WH any day of the week. Somebody had to take the fall & it wasn´t Hillary, Rice or the WH. So the CIA chief threw his subordinates to the wind. Nothing surprising here.
Too bad they didn´t have him take a polygraph test before he testified. The whole hearing was a big joke. Call it Lerner Jr. The only way to get to the bottom of all these scandals is to win the senate this year.

Nadine Gordimer, the South African writer whose literary ambitions led her into the heart of apartheid to create a body of fiction that brought her a Nobel Prize in 1991, died on Sunday in Johannesburg. She was 90. Her family announced her death in a statement. Ms. Gordimer did not originally choose apartheid as her subject as a young writer, she said, but she found it impossible to dig deeply into South African life without striking repression. And once the Afrikaner nationalists came to power in 1948, the scaffolds of the apartheid system began to rise around her and could not be

Last week, conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt interviewed Zach Carter, who is The Huffington Post‘s senior political economy reporter. The interview’s purpose was to discuss Carter’s negative response to Hewitt’s previous interview of former Vice President Dick Cheney. The interview was lively and interesting but it did not go well for Carter, who was forced to admit his ignorance of the historical context of the situation in Iraq. Looked at one way, the interview might almost seem like pointless point-scoring. In response to Hewitt’s questions, Carter admitted he didn’t know who Alger Hiss was and that he hadn’t read The Looming

It galloped into the debate with the tech industry’s classic certainty but wound up facing the same obstacles that have halted reform for decades.
