Jeb, Hillary and the curse
of tarnished political brands

Los Angeles Times, by Jonah Goldberg

Some Republican fat cats are trying to coax former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush — brother and son to two former presidents — into making a bid for the White House. Democrats have been less subtle. They´ve created a "super PAC" called Ready for Hillary, which is only slightly less obvious a gesture than constructing a giant neon sign reading "Run, Hillary, Run." (Snip) It sometimes sounds like we´re discussing lines of European nobility swapping out turns on the throne. But in America, where leaders have to run for office, a more useful way to think about dynasties might be to think of them as brand names. In chaotic and confusing marketplaces,

Comments:
If 0bama could knock PIAPS out in 2008, then she doesn´t stand a chance today. She´s literally old news, and all the awards Herself is accumulating mean nothing, because she's done nothing. As for Jeb Bush, being for amnesty and no track record of real achievements makes him unacceptable to me...ever. Those that believe a VP slot to bring in "moderates & independents" are fooling themselves. Sooner than later, you´ll have to pay the piper.

Brussels - The European Union signed an historic free-trade pact with Ukraine on Friday and warned it could impose more sanctions on Moscow unless pro-Russian rebels act to wind down the crisis in the east of the country by Monday. Shots were fired this week near the U.S. border with Mexico, with a U.S. official saying they came from a Mexican law enforcement helicopter, something that a Mexican official denies. The Mexican helicopter crossed into Arizona and fired two shots near U.S. border agents, a U.S. law enforcement official said Friday. No one returned fire, and the helicopter returned to Mexico. No one was hurt in the incident, which happened about 6 a.m. local time Thursday about 100 yards into U.S. territory, the official said on condition of anonymity. A separate official, U.S. Border Patrol spokeswoman Vivian McLoughlin, confirmed the helicopter

A failed Oklahoma congressional candidate says his Tuesday primary race against a sitting congressman was a sham---because it is common knowledge the lawmaker is dead and has been replaced with a body double. Tulsa World reports that Rep. Frank Lucas soundly defeated Timothy Ray Murray and one other opponent in the Republican primary for his House seat Tuesday. However Murray, who garnered 5.2 percent of the vote, announced Wednesday he is not giving up without a fight and will contest the race. His reason? He says Lucas, who has served in Congress since 1994, was killed in Ukraine in 2011 and replaced with

Caracas - A blackout cut power to much of Venezuela on Friday, snarling traffic in the capital Caracas and other major cities as authorities scrambled to restore electricity after the outage, which twice interrupted a presidential broadcast. Pedestrians streamed into the streets of Caracas as the blackout shuttered the underground metro trains and left frustrated drivers honking in the chaos without stoplights. Government ministers in the late afternoon said they expected power would be restored shortly. It was the second nationwide major electricity outage in less than a year. Republicans are in the strongest position to win back the Senate since losing it eight years ago. Over several months, the party has expanded its range of targeted seats, and the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) has helped defeat insurgents it didn’t want representing the GOP in the midterm elections. This sober realization came to Democrats on Wednesday, as Tuesday night’s primary results showed they cannot count on Tea Party candidates upsetting more-electable incumbents. And Democrats are increasingly realizing that President Obama’s approval rating will probably remain mired at 45 percent or lower until

A shocking new report from the Center for Immigration Studies claims to prove that every single new job created in America for the last fourteen years has gone to immigrants, legal and illegal. This would fly in the face of those who claim that immigration is an economic boon to native born Americans: The CIS report found that over the last 14 years, people who were born in the United States held 114.8 million jobs in 2000, and held 114.7 million jobs in 2014, a drop of 127,000. Were Lois Lerner’s allegedly lost emails actually destroyed? An Ohio-based trade association, the International Association of Information Technology Asset Managers (IAITAM), isn’t so sure, and they don’t find IRS commissioner Koskinen’s explanation of their loss very plausible. IAITAM administers internationally accepted certifications for information technology professionals. According to the group’s standards, if Lerner’s supposedly malfunctioning hardware was properly destroyed, there would be records of it. Dr. Barbara Rembiesa, president of IAITAM, questions whether there is documentation of the destruction of the files. Who performed the work, says Rembiesa, is important because not all IT professionals are IAITAM certified. “The notion
