Issa to ATF Head: Why Are

Late yesterday afternoon, Chairman of the House Oversight Committee Darrell Issa and Ranking Member of the Senate Judiciary Committee Chuck Grassley sent a letter to ATF Chief B. Todd Jones asking why major players in Operation Fast and Furious are still working at the agency, especially considering Jones said they were no longer employed. Although many agents and supervisors involved in the deadly operation have retired or resigned since 2010 when Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry was killed with a gun trafficked to Mexican cartels during the program, not a single person has been fired. Can someone please tell me when a "congressional investigation" has had a positive outcome? I get sick of Issa (and the like) asking questions and getting zero results. The answers in this salon have more value than the ones he manages to get.

Playground Lesson Issa never learned: When the bully steals your lunch money and you don´t do anything about it the bully will continue to do it.
Calling yet another congressional hearing to question them, sending them a letter or even calling them on the telephone does not constitute taking action to stop the bully.
It just makes you look weak.
After 5 years of this it is beginning to be embarrassing. I don´t blame it all on Issa, I think Boehner is a big contributor to the ´no action´ plan. Try throwing a punch ... like defunding the agency.

WASHINGTON— Celebrations aside, LeBron James´ decision to return to the Cleveland Cavaliers of the NBA could complicate the Republican Party´s plan to nominate its presidential contender on Lake Erie´s shores in 2016. If James leads his team into post-season play then, the GOP could find its preferred June 28 start date for the convention impossible because of the site conflict. Convention planners typically take weeks to customize the space with lights, seats and the traditional balloon drop from the rafters — impossible tasks if the Cavaliers go into post-season play. That leaves Republicans looking at their backup date of

The tabloid headline might read something like this: Sexiest Man Alive Becomes Angriest Man Alive. This week, George Clooney condemned The Daily Mail, the British newspaper, after it reported that the Lebanese mother of his fiancée objected to their wedding on religious grounds. Relatives had joked about the death of the bride if she defied her mother’s wishes, the article said. “We have family members all over the world, and the idea that someone would inflame any part of that world for the sole reason of selling papers should be criminal,” Mr. Clooney wrote in a response published in USA

Already under attack by critics who say he’s lost interest in his job, President Obama added fuel to the fire on Thursday with a drowsy appearance in Texas. A heavy-lidded Obama struggled to keep his head up during a one-on-one talk in an Austin cafe with a college student whose parents lost their jobs last year. Kinsey Button, a junior at the University of Texas at Austin, huddled with the president in a booth at the Magnolia Cafe, where he ordered hot tea and she sipped coffee while discussing her parents’ plight. Leaders of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus pushed back hard against one of their own on Friday, saying Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-Texas) doesn´t speak for the group in calling to make it easier to deport Central American children amassing at the southern border. "Henry Cuellar does not represent the Congressional Hispanic Caucus," CHC Chairman Ruben Hinojosa (D-Texas) said during a press briefing. "He´s a Blue Dog; he comes to the meetings once in a long time." Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-Ill.) emphasized that Cuellar is "a friend and a colleague of ours." Not counting instances when he quoted a letter from a citizen or cited dialogue from a movie, President Barack Obama used the first person singular--including the pronouns "I" and "me" and the adjective "my"--199 times in a speech he delivered Thursday vowing to use unilateral executive action to achieve his policy goals that Congress would not enact through the normal, constitutional legislative process. “It is lonely, me just doing stuff,” Obama said at the speech in Austin, Texas, according to the official transcript and video posted on the White House website. “I’m just telling the truth now,” Obama told the

The developments indicated that Obama faces an uphill climb as he pushes Congress to approve $3.7 billion to deal with tens of thousands of unaccompanied kids who´ve been arriving at the U.S.-Mexico border from poor and increasingly violent Central American nations. Despite fiery statements issued by Hamas spokesmen over the past 48 hours, it was obvious Tuesday night that the Islamist movement was searching for ways to rid itself of the current escalation. Hamas feels that it has been forced into a confrontation with Israel – one that it did not want at this stage because of its increased isolation and financial crisis. The massive Israeli air strikes on the Gaza Strip over the past 24 hours have surprised Hamas and other Palestinian groups. Hamas apparently expected a limited response to the recent rocket attacks on Israeli cities and towns. But as the
