Malaysian credibility in
jet hunt challenged again

Associated Press, by Chris Brummitt and Gillian Wong*

Original Article

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia - It may mean little to investigators that the last words air traffic controllers heard from the lost jetliner were "Good night, Malaysian three-seven-zero," rather than "All right, good night." But to Malaysian officials whose credibility has been questioned almost from the beginning, it means a great deal. Malaysian officials said more than two weeks ago that "All right, good night," were the last words, and that the co-pilot uttered them. They changed the account late Monday and said they are still investigating who it was that spoke. The discrepancy added to the confusion and frustration families

Comments:

The words were spoken in English and therefore cannot be misinterpreted (translated improperly). It is obvious that the Malaysian has obfuscated to send SAR in wrong directions over vast seas and inclement weather. Chinese "Xue Long" SAR vessel has moved from being east and below Australia & now moving east and "above" Australia. The "Ocean Shield"," with the equipment to hear pinger left Perth yesterday & is no longer on map.

I used to fix the fire-control system on an F-4D Phantom II fighter, which is the radar ranging avionics. Like a commercial airliner has the transponder to identify it on the ground, and weather radar and collision avoidance systems, these jets have a IFF (Identification, Friend or Foe) ability since prior to a dogfight it´s unlikely one would see adversary at radar ranges. Why a transponder can be disabled in flight makes no sense, but the airliner will give a healthy radar return signal. Countries like Malaysia, China, US, etc. are not about to give out where "listening posts" located or what their capabilities are. (We have quick strike forces stationed around P8 sub hunter while on ground in Perth). Hense the confusion.

Modern fighters now trade their speed for stealth by having their jet exhaust angling up (F-35) so as not to give off a big heat signature on a battlefield. A satellite could surely "see´ this, especially on an airliner out in what would be lone sea waters, no matter the altitude. Once again, governments won´t admit to capabilities, so various satellites are supplying few day old images of whatever is floating in vast ocean search area. Hense, more confusion.

Premise of the article is ridculous. The phrase as quoted, to end a conversation with ATC is standard- it happens a hundred thousand times a day. Paticularly on an evening flight:

"MAC Four-zero-six-two-two, climb and maintain flight level three-five-zero. Contact ATC on 124.2. Have a good evening."

"Understand climb and maintain three-five-zero. ATC on one-two-four-point-two. Good night. MAC Four-zero-six-two-two."

It means exactly what it says. Nothing more.

it is quite possible that the air sea searches for debris is a red herring . There is a multiplicity of theories about this plan - a new one seem to pop up each day. Being a dyed in the wool conspiracy theorist, I read all of the,. Best thing at this stage is to wait until someone fesses up what they knew all along, but - they better have proof.

I refer, of course to the idea that"Good night. Malaysia three seven zero." is somehow ominous as the last words of the transmisson. Sorry for the double post.

It seems clear that we are never gonna get a straight answer from the Malaysians on anything. English is the universal language for air traffic control worldwide. but with varying degrees of precision.

As you stated #2, it was a simple acknowledgement of a handoff to another controller, either radar or oceanic using position reports. I would be curious to hear/read the transcript of communications well prior to the final sign off.

Simply because the IFF stopped functioning, we cannot assume it was solely caused by a human in the cockpit turning it off. An on-board fire burning through wiring may have knocked it out along with the radios and a lot more systems [the multi-function displays for control and performance instruments], along with crew and passengers. It might have turned mighty dark and scary in a hurry; the standby ADI and HSI also appear to be electrically powered, although there is an emergency generator somewhere in the bus diagram, I´m sure.

Washington - The White House is defying a congressional subpoena by keeping a top political aide to President Barack Obama from testifying at a hearing Wednesday. The White House is arguing that Obama adviser David Simas is immune from subpoena by the House Oversight Committee in its investigation into the political office that he directs. White House counsel Neil Eggleston says in a letter to Oversight Chairman Darrell Issa that the Simas subpoena threatens the constitutional separation of powers. White House lawyers spent an hour and 15 minutes Tuesday briefing the committee´s staff behind closed doors on the political office´s

Almost three dozen Disney theme park workers have been arrested for alleged kiddie-sex crimes since 2006, according to a broadcast report. The 35 busts have been for possession of child porn or trying to meet a minor for sex, CNN found after combing through law enforcement and court records. So far, 32 of those busted have been convicted and the other cases are pending. Two cases of child porn allegedly happened on Disney property. Disney spokeswoman Jacquee Wahler said these scary arrests represent only a tiny fraction of the company’s workforce. “Providing a safe environment for children and families is a

Representative Paul Ryan (R., Wis.,) has given up on passing legislation to overhaul the current immigration system because the border crisis has poisoned the political atmosphere for such an effort, at least for this year. Lawmakers pushed back Tuesday against the Environmental Protection Agency’s move to garnish the paychecks of accused polluters, advancing a bill that would block the new authority. The House Committee on Appropriations approved the countermeasure as a policy rider on a $30.2 billion spending bill for natural resources agencies, including the EPA, the Interior Department and U.S. Forest Service. The amendment by Rep. Plenty of materials for a potential dirty bomb are likely scattered throughout the area of Iraq controlled by ISIS, and pulling off an attack that spreads even a minor amount of radiation could be a huge PR coup for the terror group, experts told FoxNews.com. Last week, the Iraqi government in Baghdad warned the UN that ISIS operatives had stolen 88 pounds of uranium compounds from Mosul University. Even though many experts said the research materials were not enough to cause widespread harm, spreading fear is even more important to terrorists than a big body count, one terrorism expert said.
