"I Can See Climate Change From My House"
Power Line, by Steven Hayward

The “impacts” report of the IPCC is out today, and we’ll try to get through some of the highlights of the thousand-page plus report. (Always reminds me of Churchill’s note about an overlong memo: “This report, by its very length, defends itself against the risk of being read.” We’ll take the risk.) Turns out that an acquaintance of mine helped write the FAQ portion of the report. But we don’t need to read the report, because Barbara Boxer is on the job: “In California, we can just look out the window to see climate change’s impacts – from the driest year on

Lies, of course. There have been repeated debunking of the environazi´s claims of more tornadoes, hurricanes, wildfires, you name the negative weather event - they claim it, and it is not true. Next it will cause landslides, traffic jams, psoriasis and dandruff.

Lies, lies, lies.

The smell of hysteria is in this document, the scam is beginning to unravel and they know it, so the claims become more shrill, apocalyptic and demanding. Never before has mankind had any negative weather events - at least according to the green crazies. What they are really saying is "We NEED your MONEY!! Don´t you understand that the science is SETTLED".

Actually, NO, it is not.

Growing up in the ´50s, we were taught that the Earth was recovering from the latest Ice Age, which began to subside about 20,000 years ago, IIRC. Ice ages have happened periodically in Earth´s history.

Do any of the liberal idiots really think they can control the climate by raising taxes?

They are really, really stupid if they think we can somehow set the thermostat for Earth.

No to #4. They are not really that stupid, but they are betting that you and most of the other masses of subjects under Big Government ARE that stupid...and treat us all that way.

It´s a scam, we´re not stupid, yet we will be forced to endure their forced Socialist (i.e., Communist) power/money grab anyway.

We need to put an emissions tax on any intestinal flatulence based on the decibel level of the escaping gasses! Monitoring stations could be created that would contain high amp microphones that would pinpoint any abrupt animal discharges of methane gas. NSA could oversee the technical operations and Homeland Defense could then arrest the miscreants and round up the animals. Studies have shown that most of the methane flatulence comes from Washington DC! We need to tax the government first until they cannot print anymore money and then every living thing that breaks wind.

If you’re still on social media after yesterday, you’re profoundly masochistic, in need of a stiff drink, or both. Take this moment to examine your Twitter timeline for evidence of the following words: “slippery slope,” “minefield,” “ban,” and “birth control.” Use them as a drinking game and get yourself most of the way into a bottle of Smirnoff. If there were ever an excuse for day-drinking, it’s the amateur constitutional lawyering happening across the Internet. Let’s not mention the Oval Office, where the “constitutional lawyer” in residence stridently disagrees with the professional justices on the Supreme Court. What has happened

A Disregarded Request From a Beloved

WAIANAE, Hawaii — For over 50 years, Senator Daniel K. Inouye, a Democrat, was the closest thing modern-day Hawaii had to political royalty: He began representing the state in Washington two years before its most famous citizen was even born. As he lay dying in 2012, Mr. Inouye asked the governor, Neil Abercrombie, to appoint Representative Colleen Hanabusa, a protégée and the daughter of a gas station owner here, to fill his seat. But Mr. Abercrombie, a fellow Democrat, disregarded that deathbed request, choosing his lieutenant governor, Brian Schatz, as the interim senator instead. Eighteen months later, the decision to defy one

During a recent break in her national book tour, Hillary Clinton sat at her kitchen table in Chappaqua, N.Y., rubbing her forehead. She had been experiencing splitting headaches and was finding it increasingly difficult to hide the throbbing pain in her head while doing television interviews. ABC News’ Diane Sawyer and NPR´s Terry Gross had asked Hillary some tough questions—about her wealth and her position on gay marriage—and Hillary had badly bungled her answers. What’s more, sales of Hillary’s memoir, “Hard Choices,” for which she was paid a reported $14 million, were alarmingly disappointing. After selling 80,000 copies the first week,

Each year, millions of women in the U.S. head to their gynecologist for an annual check-up. While it may not be the most pleasant experience in the world, most consider the prodding and mild discomfort of a routine pelvic exam to be an essential part of preventive health care. But now the American College of Physicians (ACP) is challenging the need for this practice. On Monday the group published a new set of guidelines that recommends against annual pelvic exams for healthy, non-pregnant women. After a review of studies conducted between 1946 and 2014, the ACP concluded that the risks posed by

TALLAHASSEE — The coming of Independence Day means fireworks season — and the beginning of the institutionalized charade behind their sale in Florida. In the Sunshine State, one does not buy a bottle rocket for recreation; one buys it to scare birds away from farms and fisheries. That’s right: Explosives for pest control. Technically speaking, consumer fireworks are illegal in Florida. But nearly 60 years ago, state lawmakers passed an exception — now the only one of its kind in the United States — for fireworks purchases by farms and fish hatcheries. That’s how vendors, including those in the ubiquitous tents that spring up

WINTHROP HARBOR, Ill. - On Monday morning, the U.S. Supreme Court is expected to hand down its opinion on a case involving a Winthrop Harbor woman which could have a significant impact on the future of public sector unions. Illinois state law allows Pam Harris to work as the full time caregiver for her son Josh, who is severely disabled. She is paid by Medicaid. But when Gov. Quinn signed an executive order allowing caregivers like Harris to be unionized, she filed a lawsuit, saying she´s technically not a state employee and complaining that her son´s Medicaid benefits would go toward a

In terms of dollars spent, the Senate Conservatives Fund came in second, pouring over $1.3 million into the state to back McDaniel. Both groups also spent heavily in the three-week runoff election: approximately $650,000 and $250,000 respectively, and, in a race that was conducted largely over the airwaves, that money went mostly to television and digital advertisements, according to Federal Election Commission records. Today, the Supreme Court ruled in the nationally followed Hobby Lobby case. The for-profit corporations that brought these cases to the Supreme Court—a craft store and a cabinet manufacturer—argued that the corporations’ religious convictions should excuse them from compensating their employees through the comprehensive health insurance required by law. Specifically, these private employers sought to exclude insurance coverage of several forms of birth control because, contrary to medical and scientific evidence, the corporations’ owners believe some birth control causes abortions. The Affordable Care Act already includes special arrangements for houses of worship and religious non-profits, like schools and hospitals. Houses
