General Motors has announced that it is recalling 824,000 more small cars that could have faulty ignition switches. GM released the following press release: Detroit – General Motors today said it will replace the ignition switch in all model years of its Chevrolet Cobalt, HHR, Pontiac G5, Solstice and Saturn Ion and Sky in the U.S. since faulty switches may have been used to repair the vehicles. The parts are at the center of the company’s recently announced ignition switch recall, which originally extended through the 2007 model year. About 95,000 faulty switches were sold to dealers and aftermarket wholesalers.

Comments:
Obviously, Government Motors waited until Wall Street was closed for this third major recall in TWO days. Better get our taxes done.

Why any real American would buy a GM car is truly astounding to me.

#1 Look around the Section 8 dwellings in your area. You will see GM cars aplenty. I think there was some ObamaCar program that we didn´t never heard about. But your point about "real" is well taken.

An honest and legal bankruptcy sounds pretty good about now, to bad Obama didn’t do the right thing in 2009.

My current and two previous cars are/were Toyotas. Before that I had two Fords and an Olds. The Ford dealership where I purchased my Fords has been a vacant lot for the past 10 years. Last time I saw a GM dealership it was a Saturn and is now Hyundi. Was going through a shopping center and a Buick was parked there on display. Price tag was around $ 50k. Forget it. I can´t afford a Detroit car. Plus they aren´t reliable. I see lots of Ford F150s but that´s about it.

#4: I understand how you may feel but in the last 15 years we´ve had a number of Fords and an Altima. The Altima gave us the most trouble. I don´t think any car is as bad as they were 20 years ago, but I wouldn´t touch a GM with a 10 Ft pole for other various reasons.

#2, yes, there is an 0bama program to entice the lo-fo´s to buy brand new GM cars. Ally is the loan company for GM; actually, the taxpayers still own almost 80% of this company due to 0bama´s deal with GM. So you see all these adds for GM cars; 0% down, 0% interest for many months, and the low folks flock to buy. They just walk in sign on the line, and walla, they drive out proudly in their brand new car which the taxpayers are liable for when they can´t pay off the loan. Why any real American would buy from GM is a mystery to me.

Australian Islamic preacher Musa

Fairfax Media [Australia], by Lindsay Murdoch *    Original Article

Australian religious extremist Musa Cerantonio has been arrested in the Philippines after boasting he had travelled to the Middle East to join jihadists. The arrest of 29-year-old Melbourne-born Mr Cerantonio on the island of Cebu early Friday morning is a coup for Western intelligence agencies which have named him as one of the top two influential jihadist “inspirations” for fighters in Syria and Iraq. Mr Cerantonio had announced on Twitter earlier this month that he had made it successfully to the Levant – presumably either Syria or Iraq – after leaving the Philippines where he was believed to be in hiding.

What were they thinking? In the wake of last fall’s revelation that the National Security Agency had wiretapped German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s cell phone, the report of U.S. intelligence’s involvement in two other likely cases of spying on Germany is mind-boggling. (Snip) What was worth this risk? CIA and White House officials have said little to answer the question. But the fact that German industry has strong ties to both Russia and Iran may offer a clue. So economic and political intelligence about Germany’s contacts with those countries could be high on the list of potential U.S. intelligence targets.

California church handing out

A Catholic church in a California community has opened its doors to the influx of illegals making their way across the border, giving temporary shelter — and cash — to 46 of them who were waiting for bus rides to spots around the country. San Bernardino Diocese spokesman John Andres told Breitbart that the church handed out “travel cash” to 14 adults and 32 children who were headed east, specifically to New York or New Jersey. “The Catholic Church welcomed us,” an immigrant named Bianca told CBS’s Los Angeles affiliate. “We are here. We are OK.” The cash disbursements and church aid comes as protesters down the road

The Rev. Jesse Jackson criticized President Obama for putting unaccompanied alien children before Chicago, and argued that the federal government should award the Windy City $2 billion to help combat violence. “If we can find $4 billion for those children — and we should — we can find $2 billion for Chicago,” Mr. Jackson said, a CBS-affiliated radio station reported Wednesday. “There are more children involved, and more have been killed, and more have been shot,” he said. The reverend’s comments come after the White House asked Congress Tuesday for $3.7 billion to fund programs to deal with the influx

Has it been a “year of action” for President Obama? The White House has released a 42-page document boldly proclaiming "an update on what President Obama has done this year to help ensure opportunity for all Americans.” In reality, it’s a collection of spin, listing in a sugar-coated manner what the president has done for everyday Americans through executive orders, speeches, summits and meetings as well as things that would happen anyway. Out of the 45 “new actions to date” in the document, nearly all of them neatly demonstrate how Obama has maneuvered around Congress (his opponents will be thrilled) by using his executive powers,

Chrysler recalls 651,000

New York - Chrysler says it is recalling 651,000 Jeep and Dodge SUVs in the U.S. because vanity mirror lights that have undergone repairs can short circuit and start a fire if not reassembled correctly. The recall is for certain 2011 to 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango models. Chrysler says it has seen the problem only in lighted sun visor mirrors that have been repaired. But as a precaution, it says the recall applies to all of the vehicles. The automaker says it knows of three injuries caused by the lighted mirror. Chrysler will contact customers and let them know when they can have the problem fixed.

Washington - Amazon wants to start flying their drones, moving from what some called a PR stunt, to a true delivery business. But to do that, they need to conduct test flights. Today, the company formally requested an exemption from Federal Aviation Administration rules that largely prohibit the use of drones for commercial purposes. The request was posted to Regulations.gov, the official government website for comments on regulatory matters. Amazon’s letter should draw attention to FAA regulations which to date have received very little official commentary from an industry still struggling to find its voice.

Washington - President Barack Obama is telling Israel´s leader that the United States is willing to negotiate a cease-fire between Israel and Hamas. Obama spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday, as Israel was intensifying an bombardment of the Gaza Strip in an attempt to thwart rocket fire targeting Israel. The White House says Obama condemned the rockets and said Israel has the right to self-defense. But Obama also urged both sides not to escalate the crisis and to restore calm. Obama also relayed concerns about a Palestinian-American teenager who was detained and apparently beaten by Israeli authorities.

David Cameron abandoned his year-long resistance to tightening the accountability of the security services as the price for winning Liberal Democrat and Labour support for emergency surveillance laws. Standing alongside Nick Clegg, the prime minister unveiled emergency laws, to be bundled through parliament in days, designed to shore up the powers of spies, police and government agencies. But Cameron agreed to a "sunset clause" time-limiting the bill to 2016, a full-scale review of intercept laws, a new oversight board and restrictions on the number of public bodies that can make use of surveillance data.

Despite fiery statements issued by Hamas spokesmen over the past 48 hours, it was obvious Tuesday night that the Islamist movement was searching for ways to rid itself of the current escalation. Hamas feels that it has been forced into a confrontation with Israel – one that it did not want at this stage because of its increased isolation and financial crisis. The massive Israeli air strikes on the Gaza Strip over the past 24 hours have surprised Hamas and other Palestinian groups. A year ago, Mr. Obama boasted in a “fireside” Web chat that his “is the most transparent administration in history.” There was not the slightest hint of irony. He may actually believe it.
