An answer to the perennial question:
Is it safe to pee in the pool?

Science Daily, by Staff

Original Article

Posted By:nhchemist, 3/27/2014 9:19:37 PM

Sanitary-minded pool-goers who preach "no peeing in the pool," despite ordinary and Olympic swimmers admitting to the practice, now have scientific evidence to back up their concern. Researchers are reporting that when mixed, urine and chlorine can form substances that can cause potential health problems. Their study appears in ACS´ journal Environmental Science & Technology. (Snip) They conclude that swimmers can improve pool conditions by simply urinating where they´re supposed to -- in the bathrooms.

Comments:
Maybe if we just stopped using chlorine the problem would be solved. Environmentalists have been trying to ban chlorine for decades.

Speaking from personal experience, I´ve put in many miles swimming laps in a crowded poo l and if anything I´m healthier for it. Number one, I was getting a lot of good exercise and number two, I was getting a good dose of bacteria from the water that served to also keep me healthy. I really felt like the years that I spent swimming nearly every day has kept me free of most health problems.

If I may, I´ll tell you about a Thai fellow I know who told me once that as a kid he swam a lot in the Chao Praya river that passes through Bangkok. I asked him if he had ever had any health problems. He paused and said that he could not remember ever being sick. From anything. No colds, no flu, no sickness of any kind. He had inoculated himself by swimming in pollution. That would kill me if I tried it but he reaped the benefit.

So I think that if all we had to worry about was a little bit of pee in a pool, we should thank our lucky stars we are so well off.

Let the government assume control of all pools. They could regulate them into "peeing" and "non-peeing" zones, with appropriate fines......

Fed up with crime, some armed Detroiters have developed itchy trigger-fingers — and Police Chief James Craig said lawbreakers are getting the message. (Snip) Detroit has experienced 37 percent fewer robberies in 2014 than during the same period last year, 22 percent fewer break-ins of businesses and homes, and 30 percent fewer carjackings. Craig attributed the drop to better police work and criminals being reluctant to prey on citizens who may be carrying guns. “Criminals are getting the message that good Detroiters are armed and will use that weapon,” said Craig, who has repeatedly said he believes armed citizens deter

As a result of recent lawsuits against the town, police officers will soon be wearing body cameras while out on patrol. “Yes, of course it’s because of recent lawsuits settled,” Weare Police Chief John D. Walter Havenstein of Alton is running for the Republican nomination for governor. Democrats claim he is ineligible because although he has lived in New Hampshire since 1999 and maintained his legal domicile here all that time, he also was a legal resident of Maryland from 2008-2011. The New Hampshire Constitution states that the governor “shall have been an inhabitant of this state for 7 years next preceding.” (Snip) Because of the Democrats’ insistence that “domicile” be kept strictly separate from “residency,” Havenstein has been a legally domiciled inhabitant of New Hampshire since 1999.

Gov. Bobby Jindal of Louisiana recently told a Nashua, N.H., audience about his experience with a school bully. Bullying is a nationwide problem, but the bully Jindal was describing was U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, who recently tried to crush school choice in Louisiana. Last Monday, March 17, parents in New York City who send their children to Success Academy, a Harlem charter school, filed suit in federal court to stop another school bully, Mayor Bill de Blasio, from denying them previously arranged space in a public school building.
