Burger King Baby finds
birth mom, feels ´pure joy´

A woman who, as a newborn, was abandoned in the bathroom of a Pennsylvania fast-food restaurant said she has found her birth mother just three weeks after launching a search that garnered worldwide attention, and as her mother prepared to look for her. Katheryn Deprill, 27, said Tuesday she felt "pure joy" when she met her biological mother for the first time Monday at an attorney´s office. And, after she learned the sad details of her conception and abandonment, she said she understood why her mom did what she did. "She is better than anything I could´ve ever imagined. She

Thank God Katheryn survived and the mother did not abort, when many of her peers did not.

The search for birth parents is almost always a huge disappointment. Better to be grateful for the courageous decision and opportunity, and move forward.

Sorry, I am not joyful.

This woman should have went to JAIL. I am so tired of hearing stories like this. Of course she was "raped while traveling abroad". How convenient. No audit trail.

She left a NEWBORN IN A STINKY PUBLIC BATHROOM. Surrounded by germs, the child could have been undiscovered for hours, or depending on where she placed the baby and the time of day, perhaps days.

She could not have cared less about that child, and left it to die.

I have no compassion for this "mother". I only suggest the biological daughter approach with caution and never EVER leave her own kids with this woman--or let her feelings be crushed once again by someone who is morally bankrupt.

Was a 15 yr. old allowed to travel abroad by herself or was she with a group which was supposed to have chaperones or with her parents?

#4, you want my guess?

There was no rapist. BabyDaddy was a 23 year old guy that she did not want to get into trouble. BabyDaddy disappeared right after the baby was disposed of.

Which is more believable, she was traveling "abroad", got raped, told no one, kept it a secret, and abandoned the baby, or what I just suggested?

I have compassion for her. She was just 16 years old--a child by law. If the father was 23 as some speculate that was rape under the law. She didn´t know what to do and left the baby somewhere where it would be found. The demand for abortion would be a lot less if out of wedlock pregnancies were not still met with so much scorn.

#7, I don´t have the issue with her getting pregnant. Mistakes can happen.

But seriously, she left it where it would be found? To quote Ellen Ripley in "Aliens", did the collective IQs around here suddenly drop?

What WORSE place could she have left the kid, outside of a trash dumpster? A filthy bathroom where it could be found and safe. Yeah, like maybe the next day, dead.

Why do we give girls so much compassion doing this to their young? IF the "father" had thrown the kid into a bathroom, you´d be calling for his head. Just like that girl a few years ago who hid her pregnancy from her parents, had the baby in the basement, and threw it into a trash bag where it died.

Nothing but compassion by people---for the girl.

At 16 I was building hot rods and racing cars, and working full time while finishing high school. I wasn´t some doe-faced innocent that could not possibly tell right from wrong. And neither were the other kids my age.

Have we bred justifiable anger out of kids these days?
If my birth mother abandoned me as a newborn in a bathroom at Burger King, I would have no wish to find her. I would be grateful for the parents who raised me, and never give the birth mother another thought.

Society heaps shame on young girls who get pregnant and in turn they don´t know what to do or who to turn to. I suppose she could have turned to Planned Parenthood for help when she realized she was pregnant. Their medical facilities are probably (relatively) clean. Hospitals are full of germs, too, by the way. The baby was left somewhere where she was sure to be found and wouldn´t be exposed to cold or bad weather. It is not at all like stories of girls who throw their babies in the trash. Or those who abort.

If she can forgive her birth mother, how can we stand in the way? It´s not my call, nor, I think, the call of most commenters. If you wished to list all my sins, you´d need a lot of paper. If the Lord can forgive all that - and He has - then I´m called to extend the same to others.
The adoptive parents did good.

I had a column on the home-page yesterday about a practical step congressional Republicans could take to combat the rampant presidential lawlessness I’ve documented in Faithless Execution—to wit, they can start impeaching subordinate executive branch officials who have been involved in either (or both) the IRS abuse of Americans over their political beliefs or the cover-up of that constitutional affront, which has involved misleading testimony, destruction of evidence, and obstruction of justice. I also weighed in this morning at PJMedia with a post about House Speaker John Boehner’s feckless plan to confront the president by filing a lawsuit that would

With humor and words of admiration, philanthropist Lewis Katz was remembered Wednesday at his beloved Temple University for his loyalty, wide-ranging generosity and devotion to his family. During a more than 2 1/2-hour memorial service at Temple´s Peformance Arts Center, mourners laughed, applauded and wiped away tears at reminisces of Katz - funny, moving, sad. The message over and over again was to keep Katz´s memory and work alive.

Nearly six months after the disastrous launch of Healthcare.gov, with the website running smoothly and more than five million people signed up as open enrollment heads to a close, a new glitch has come to light: Incorrect poverty-level guidelines are automatically telling what could be tens of thousands of eligible people they do not qualify for subsidized insurance. The error in the federal marketplace primarily affects households with incomes just above the poverty line in states like Pennsylvania that have not expanded Medicaid. The mistake raises the price of their insurance by thousands of dollars, making insurance so unaffordable many

The program is a component of Mrs. Obama’s Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010. The new government regulations require snack items served in public schools to have less than two hundred calories. That includes vending machines, lunch rooms and other campus food venues. And that’s really bad news for kids at South Carolina’s Socastee High School.
