Tale of Princess Lacey & her Superman
transcends March Madness

FOX Sports [Detroit], by Steve Kornacki

East Lansing, Mich., The stories of friends and loved ones inspiring players and coaches in the NCAA Tournament often are as memorable as the games themselves. Every so often, they can transcend the madness taking place on the court. The tale of Princess Lacey and her "Superman" from Michigan State is one such story, a lesson in friendship that warms hearts before melting them. Princess Lacey is 8-year-old Lacey Holsworth from St. Johns, Mich. She continues battling neuroblastoma, a nerve cancer, all the while drawing strength and joy from Spartans center Adreian Payne. Princess Lacey and Superman first met last

Comments:
I don´t "tweet", but am sending prayers up for Lacey and her loved ones, and best wishes to them. God bless them and all who are suffering with the effects of cancer in their lives.

The saga of John Flentie: Platte County
man fights against his guardianship
Kansas City Star [Kansas City, MO], by Eric Adler*    Original Article

Sunken into the plaid couch of his cinder-block room, John Flentie spends nearly every waking hour obsessed with obtaining his freedom. “I merely want to go home,” he says. At 73, the once-affluent Parkville resident is not a criminal inmate, nor is he an enemy combatant. Instead — to the extreme frustration of Flentie, his lawyer and a cadre of former high school classmates who for two years have been advocating for the release of a friend they insist is as capable and highly intelligent as always — Flentie is a ward of the state of Missouri. Since April 2012, he has been committed to various nursing homes under the guardianship

A sheriff´s department spokesman refutes claims by the Chris McDaniel camp that three staffers were let into the courthouse by "uniformed personnel" sometime after it closed late election night. Janis Lane, Scott Brewster, and Rob Chambers were found locked inside the Hinds County Courthouse early Wednesday morning. They allegedly gained access to the courthouse sometime shortly after 2 a.m., and when they realized they were locked in, they called Hinds County Republican Executive Chairman Pete Perry to ask for help. They were let out around 3:45 a.m. Brewster is a former coordinator of presidential candidate Newt Gingrich´s Mississippi operation and

As expected, the Seattle City Council this afternoon passed the historic $15-an-hour minimum-wage bill that Mayor Murray and the City has spent months hammering out. With all nine Council members in attendance (Councilmember Tom Rasmussen was late), the minimum wage bill was approved unanimously, even earning the endorsement of socialist Kshama Sawant by the time the dust settled. The vote followed the failed introduction of amendments favored by Sawant to quicken implementation of the bill (4-5), remove training wages (4-5), remove the tip credit (1-8), and speed-up the process for requiring big business

Washington -- Some conservatives unhappy with House Speaker John Boehner´s leadership are looking for a replacement, and recent moves by Texas Republican Jeb Hensarling are fueling speculation he wants Boehner´s job in the next Congress. Hensarling, who was part of Boehner´s leadership team two years ago but left to chair the House Financial Services Committee, gave an expansive speech last week hosted by Heritage Action for America, a group that frequently and publicly clashes with Boehner. Asked afterward if he was interested in running for speaker, Hensarling initially said he was "flattered," and said, "It´s not something

Sarah Palin wants to impeach Barack Obama. In an op-ed article published last week, the former Republican vice presidential nominee declared that the crisis on the southern border (where young illegal immigrants are being detained) "is the last straw that makes the battered wife say, ´No, mas´." The Republican Speaker of the House, John Boehner, thinks that´s loco. (Technically, he said, "I disagree".) For Republicans hoping to avoid the kind of drama that might derail what looks to be a very good midterm election year, this kind of call is both a nuisance and a trend. On April 1, the U.S. economy dropped a whopping 2.9 percent for the first three months of the year (no fooling). The American workforce participation rate fell to a 40-year low. One-third of people aged 18-29 have moved back in with their parents. Millions of Americans this summer will enjoy yet another “staycation”: They just can’t afford to go to the beach or the mountains, even for a week — again. (Snip) Forget that the United States is deep into what Mr. Obama dramatically declares a “humanitarian crisis,” that the Middle East is a powder keg about to blow, that Iraq has all but fallen to Islamist terrorists. Winter reports that several dead children have been discovered “washed up along the riverbank” of the Rio Grande, but fails to note that there have been no reports by the Obama administration on this. This indicates a pattern of covering up dead illegal alien kids by the Obama administration. It was two weeks before news was reported on the sole child death acknowledged by the Obama administration, Gilberto Ramos, a 15 year-old boy from Guatemala whose body was found in the Texas brush dead from the
