Progressives Turn on Their Prodigies
National Review Online, by Charles C.W. Cooke

Much to the delight and self-satisfaction of the reality-based community, “Big Data” has been en vogue of late, and to such an extent that it has promised to make hipsters of the terminally uncool. In the space of just a few weeks, both Nate Silver and Ezra Klein have launched brand new websites, which, although imperceptibly different in their core objectives, both promised to overlook the “fundamentally useless” “pundits” that sully the nation’s media and to replace them with the calm explication and modest objectivity that one can only get from the sort of detached, numbers-driven pragmatists who made their names

The left really doesn´t want their public figures to have any credibility,as long as what they say is music to their ears.Silver has bolstered his credibility by relying on hardcore science to develop his conclusions, compared to other liberals who rely on repeating lies until they become a virtual truth, mostly through media saturation of repeating the same lie.So then becomes settled science which actually lacks science.

Larry Sabato is another left leanin gperson who has to tell the truth to maintain his credibility. The reason Limbaugh has survived 25 years is because he´s credibility as is most conservative talk radio.Liberal idiots sit around day after day eavesdropping on these shows to come up with a lie and they come up empty well over 90% of the time.

Japanese Knotweed: The Invasive
Plant That Eats the Value of Your Home
Newsweek, by Christopher Middleton    Original Article

When the German botanist Philipp von Siebold sent a variety of plant specimens to the Royal Botanical Gardens at Kew in August 1850, he had no idea what he was unleashing on the world. Among the various floral and tuberous growths he dispatched was a plant which, 164 years later, is leaving a trail of mayhem all across the planet. It goes by the name of Japanese knotweed, or Fallopia japonica. It presents a pleasing appearance to the eye: heart-shaped leaves, bamboo stems and pretty, little white-flower tassels. What is less obvious is this plant’s relentless killer instinct. Look through the

Coal poised for rare win over Obama

The coal industry is poised to score a rare victory over the Obama administration in the fight over the Export-Import Bank. Both of the working proposals in the House and Senate to renew the bank’s charter would reverse Ex-Im guidelines that prevent financing for overseas power plants that decline to adopt greener technology. Bank officials adopted the policies, which included exemptions for the world´s poorest nations, in December amid the Obama administration´s broader push to address climate change. Up until now, coal-state Democrats such as Sen. Manchin (D-W.Va.) have lacked political leverage to fight back. But that’s changing thanks to the looming Sept. 30

Israel police seek to extend

Israeli police say that an American teenager who was detained and allegedly beaten during violent protests over the death of his Palestinian cousin has been brought before a court in an attempt to extent his period in custody. The parents of 15-year-old Tariq Abu Khdeir, who goes to school in Florida, say their son was beaten by Israeli police during clashes over the killing of 16-year-old Mohammed Abu Khdeir, whom Palestinians say was killed by Israeli extremists in a revenge attack. Police say Tariq Abu Khdeir resisted arrest, attacked officers and was carrying a slingshot for lobbing stones when he was arrested. The

U.S. Seen as Biggest Oil Producer

The U.S. will remain the world’s biggest oil producer this year after overtaking Saudi Arabia and Russia as extraction of energy from shale rock spurs the nation’s economic recovery, Bank of America Corp. said. U.S. production of crude oil, along with liquids separated from natural gas, surpassed all other countries this year with daily output exceeding 11 million barrels in the first quarter, the bank said in a report today. The country became the world’s largest natural gas producer in 2010. The International Energy Agency said in June that the U.S. was the biggest producer of oil and natural gas liquids. “The

What’s a caliphate? News puts

WASHINGTON — When the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria announced Sunday that it was changing its name and reviving the caliphate, the news lit up the Internet and headlined news reports around the world. But what is a caliphate? And what is the self-described Islamic State hoping to achieve with its declaration? The answers, experts say, have more to do with the Sunni militant group’s rivalry with al Qaida than with any plan to replicate the last caliphate, which was abolished in 1924 after the fall of the Ottoman Empire. Understanding the history of the caliphate and its powerful symbolism is key

The Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC,) which advocates for digital privacy, has filed a formal complaint with the Federal Trade Commission over the 2012 Facebook mood manipulation study. EPIC claims Facebook violated laws when it conducted this experiment, as users did not know they were being studied, and did not give their consent. The formal complaint states, "At the time of the experiment, Facebook did not state in the Data Use Policy that user data would be used for research purposes. Facebook also failed to inform users that their personal information would be shared with researchers." While Facebook has not issued an

Madness on the border

The spirit of independence is alive in Murrieta, Calif., where townspeople heard that the federal government was about to send 170 illegal-alien children flooding across the border to their town in Riverside County. Three hundred residents stood in front of the buses, blocking the way. The federales withdrew, rerouting the buses to San Diego. But soon, the federales were on their way back. Allowing a crowd to block a public highway can’t be tolerated, but “the humanitarian crisis” on the border is the work of President Obama. The wishes of Murrieta are of no concern to this administration. No one can

WASHINGTON-- First ladies typically avoid getting into public scraps, but Michelle Obama has jumped into perhaps her biggest battle yet. She´s fighting a House Republican effort to soften a central part of her prized anti-childhood obesity campaign and she says she´s ready "to fight until the bitter end." Mrs. Obama even mocked the GOP effort in an opinion column and argued her case before her Twitter followers. "Remember a few years ago when Congress declared that the sauce on a slice of pizza should count as a vegetable in school lunches?" she wrote in The New York Times. "You don´t have to be

On this Independence Day it’s worth hearing how the American Longrifle helped win the battle for American freedom. If you don’t know this rifle’s starring role in American history you can’t understand America’s link to the gun or why so many firearms manufacturers are moving or expanding away from states that have banned their products. For this history lesson I stopped in to see Phil Schreier, the senior curator for the NRA’s National Firearms Museum, in Fairfax, VA. As we stood in the middle of the biggest gun museum in all the world he told me, “If school kids were

The headline of today’s jobs report, that 288,000 jobs were created in the last month, is positive. At least, it is better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick. However, as with most economic reports these days, there is a veneer of good news — but when you look closer, the White House is using the positive headlines to hide the growing deterioration of the American workforce. I’m sure by now people are tired of reading about the bad news, and I’ll admit I am weary of having to blow the whistle and expose the truth every

The U.S. State Department possesses just under 100 helicopters and more than 30 fixed-wing aircraft and deploys them all over the world, mostly as part of the America´s international drug war. The Bureau for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs´ Office of Aviation — a.k.a., the INL Air Wing — employs contractors and foreign government aviators to fly these aircraft in seven countries: Afghanistan, Bolivia, Colombia, Guatemala, Iraq, Pakistan, and Peru. The main mission of the Air Wing is to assist friendly states in their own fights against illegal drugs and narco-terrorism. However, with its large fleet — larger than the air

After a brief holiday last week, I returned to some heavy reading courtesy of the federal government. Some of the materials that I read were gratifying, and one was terrifying. In one week, the Supreme Court told the police that if they want to examine the contents of our cellphones, whether at traffic stops or serious crime scenes, they need to get a warrant. The court told small-business owners that they needn’t pay for government-mandated insurance policies that provide for abortions for their employees, because the government is without authority to command them to do so. It told the president

Hillary Clinton continued to justify her high-dollar speaking fees on Friday, telling ABC News’ Ann Compton that all of the money she’s made from colleges over the past year and a half has been donated to her family’s foundation. “All of the fees have been donated to the Clinton Foundation for it to continue its life-changing and life-saving work. So it goes from a foundation at a university to another foundation,” Clinton said when asked about the criticism she and her husband have faced recently for their wealth. Hillary Clinton reportedly makes roughly $200,000 for each speaking engagement. And recent reports show

A charter plane believed to be carrying immigrants arrived this evening at San Diego’s Lindbergh Field, apparently from Texas. Three Homeland Security buses arrived a few minutes later, trailed by numerous law enforcement vehicles. There is no information as to the buses´ destination. Earlier this week, federal officials said that 140 immigrants who had been detained crossing the border in Texas would arrive Friday. But since the blockade by protesters Tuesday at Murrieta, officials have declined to provide information about the movement of the immigrants.

For some time now, Elizabeth Foley and David Rivkin have had two questions about the 44th president: “How is he getting away with this? United States Department of Health and Human Services, one of three Obamacare challenges that ended up before the Supreme Court in 2012, are doing something. They are the architects of the House of Representatives’ likely lawsuit against President Obama, which would challenge the president’s selective

When asked for clarification she was more politically correct: ”A transgender.” Watch the whole thing here:

Carney is in talks for a contributor position. If it happens, Carney would follow in the natural footsteps of a few other aides to President Obama who were welcomed into the MSNBC family upon leaving their jobs. The last White House Press Secretary, Robert Gibbs, became an MSNBC contributor in May, 2013, while David Axelrod, a top aide to Obama, became one in February 2013. The Obamas have spent over 44 million dollars in taxpayer money on travel and vacations. Some are even calling him the “most well-trvaeled, expensive” president in our nation’s history. As Americans head off for the long holiday weekend, let’s take a look back at some of the president’s holiday spending. Our president vacations a lot — we’re talking $44,351,777.12 worth of “a lot,” with most expenses charged to the American taxpayer. As of March 2014, Obama has spent more time traveling internationally than any other president, taking 31 trips since assuming office in 2009. The 119 days spent overseas have

Washington - Celebrating the ethnic diversity of America, President Barack Obama said more than two dozen foreign-born service members who became U.S. citizens at the White House on the Fourth of July are vivid reminders that welcoming immigrants "is central to our way of life." He pleaded anew for new immigration policies, saying the vast range of backgrounds and experiences that has made America a melting pot for more than 200 years also makes the country stronger. He argued that the system must be retooled for the U.S. to remain the greatest nation on earth. "The basic idea of welcoming
