Dealing with Michelle Obama’s
press office is no cake walk

Daily Caller, by Betsy Rothstein

Like most ultra-important offices in Washington as well as most cable news networks, commenting on-the-record is frowned upon. Off-the-record is off-the-record and even using the phrase off-the-record is considered off-the-record if you know what I mean. But this week a few Washington journalists exposed what happened when they approached the first lady Michelle Obama‘s press office for information. There’s an aspect of this that is quite impressive. They didn’t play the game. They didn’t worry about future access, undoubtedly a rarity in Washington among the Fourth Estate. SiriusXM’s Julie Mason, who hosts “Press Pool,” told The Mirror a story that things definitely

Is anyone really surprised by this story? For two reasons: the fact that any aspect of the Obama administration hides from the public an honest view of who and what they are is certainly not surprising, and the fact that the MSM goes along with it until their own little toes get trampled upon by being denied access to the Obamas while in China is also not surprising. The press goes along with the least transparent administration in the history of this country until they are treated like the rest of us by this administration.

Imagine the pressure of having to sell mutton dressed as lamb every hour of every day.

After 5+ years, if Michelle Obama had anything clever, original or funny to say we would have heard it by now. People who micromanage their image general fall well short of the false ideal they have constructed and people notice...in this case lots of people since we´re talking about the wife of the president.

In a great irony, Michelle can´t talk about reading or drug use or anything else related to her pre-White House career....because she didn´t have one. A no-show job at a hospital doesn´t count. And so, her hobbies, such as they are, are a load of empty focus-group nanny statism delivered with the subtlety of a flying mallet.

The stupidest story of the week was about Carney getting questions from reporters ahead of time. You have an honest young reporter from Arizona, letting it slip out that he did. She had no idea that kind of stuff is secret. So then she´s badgered into recanting the story.

What makes it so stupid is even if Carney gets the question ahead of time,he always gives a dumbfounded answer anyway. None of this is Carney´s fault because the behind the scenes people at the WH probably don´t even brief the guy. He´s hung out to dry every day.

Mo´s trip was/is being done done in secret in case she has a huge gaffe,it won´t go around the world in 10 minutes. Her staff is along for the ride and don´t have a clue what´s going on otherwise because the whole Obama team is disorganized top to bottom.

They could ignore her. Stop writing about her.

Most of us are only interested in her extravagance with our money.

As for there being no press on the trip, you wouldn´t know it. Getty Images has a lot of photos as does the AP and they are being published. And many are not flattering.

And they are reporting what she´s doing - some of it rather suspiciously embarrassing, like that pingpong episode and the calligraphy (at which Peng is considered to be expert). And then there are her clothes. It´s always the clothes.

So the Mooch is not a very nice person, no surprise there. So she is not a very bright person, again no surprise. That the staff turn-over is a fast revolving door, no surprise.

The fact that the regime thinks they can hide these facts forever, laughable. History has her number and it is not a good one. Not to mention the heaps of criticism the Queen deserves for her 24, or is it 44 personal staff, as always, at taxpayer expense.

These people are hardly reporters/journalists. Ask the question ONCE, and if you receive no answer, then THAT is your story. HEADLINE - The WH refuses to tell why no press personnel will be allowed on M.O.´s trip to China. or some such language. To me, that is a bigger story than if the WH had given an answer, because you know how truthful they have proven to be.

For a first family that does not have a lot of room for error, they certainly make their share, as in every day. They don´t want the fact that they are black to bring judgement upon them but if they would quit acting like royalty, it would go a long way with their public relations. Nobody elected Mooch, they just thrust her upon us and expect us to treat her like a queen instead of the rich, angry black girl from Chicago who happened to marry the right kenyan.

WASHINGTON • In one of his first interviews since his defeat in 2012, former Rep. Todd Akin told the Post-Dispatch on Monday that he has not contemplated running for office again, and instead has focused on closing his Senate campaign and writing a book that will be released today. In a 15-minute telephone interview, the Republican Akin compared his downfall in the 2012 Missouri Senate race to that of former Sen. Joe McCarthy, R-Wis., who in the 1950s was discredited after making allegations that many thought overstated Communist influence in the U.S. government. “I use McCarthy as an example of someone who

Two of the larger social trends of our time — the growth of payday gambling and the legalization of marijuana — have two things in common: They are justified as the expansion of personal liberty, and they serve the interests of an expanding government. The ideological alliance behind these changes is among the strangest in U.S. politics. Libertarians seek to lift governmental restraints on consensual acts. State governments seek sources of revenue without the political inconvenience of requesting broad tax increases. Both find common ground in encouraging and exploiting the weaknesses and addictions of citizens. (And business interests and their lobbyists,

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip -- Israel on Wednesday intensified air attacks on Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip following a failed Egyptian cease-fire effort, targeting the homes of four senior leaders of the Islamic militant movement. The Palestinian death toll in nine days of fighting rose to 204, with some 1,450 wounded, Palestinian health officials said. On the Israeli side, one man was killed and several people were wounded since the fighting erupted on July 8. The renewed bombings came a day after Israel initially

I took a look back at the current crisis of illegal Central American minors in the Weekly Standard article “Disorder at the border,” published in this past Friday in the new issue of the magazine. In retrospect, I think that the events of the preceding days fixed these issues in the public mind and culminated in President Obama’s notable address following his meeting in Dallas with Governor Perry. Obama had resisted the meeting with Perry, as he resisted visiting the border along the Rio Grande. In Dallas and Austin for big-buck fundraisers with his conspicuously wealthy friends, Obama was ultimately shamed

That same consensus also holds that if the GOP does indeed take control, the next two years will be marked by confrontation with the White House and even less actual legislative action than the present Congress has accomplished. To be fair, there is some compelling logic behind these conclusions. President Obama has clearly opted out of the role of governing through legislation.
