China claims victory in
battle of first ladies

Telegraph [UK], by Tom Phillips

Freedom of information, expression and belief should be considered "universal rights", Michelle Obama, the US first lady, told students in China on Saturday. Speaking at Peking University on the second full day of a weeklong, bridge-building family tour of the country, Mrs Obama said: "It is so important for information and ideas to flow freely over the internet and through the media. When it comes to expressing yourself freely, and worshipping as you choose, and having open access to information--we believe those are universal rights that are the birthright of every person on this planet," Mrs Obama told an audience

LOL.

Okay, I know it´s not funny but I don´t want to break another perfectly fine back tooth from gritting my teeth in frustration and to control the urge to throw things.

Btw, same thing happened to Mr A re back tooth, right side, two down from a wisdom--about three weeks ago. Friend we haven´t seen for a month called yesterday to say she had just--yep, you guessed it--same thing, right side of mouth, except 3 down from a wisdom. Anybody else?

China claims victory in the battle of first ladies, and well they should. Michelle has no class; she does not know how to dress; most of us are embarrassed by her behavior. Who are the Seventy people Michelle took with her to China on the taxpayers´ dime? While American citizens are just trying to put food on the table and pay for the horrid 0bamacare, Michelle feels entitled to go to China with seventy people spending the American taxpayers´ money. Her room costs $9,000 per night. And she obviously knows what she is doing is just plain wrong, as she wanted NO press to cover this tour. Michelle has no shame, and she makes a very bad first lady.

Israel has ordered thousands of Palestinians in eastern and northern Gaza to leave their homes as it continues air strikes. Hamas initially rejected the truce but an official later told the BBC it would consider a political solution. People who are most concerned about climate change use more electricity than those who believe it to be not so serious a threat, a government study has found. The Household Electricity Survey, commissioned by the Department for Energy and Climate Change, said that this discrepancy may be due to the fact that older people, who are most likely to not see climate change as a threat, are generally more frugal with their energy consumption: [Snip] However, even with over-65s removed, there is still only a weak trend suggesting that people who profess to care about the environment actually do more

The Obama administration quietly announced on Tuesday that it intends to change the way Americans learn about natural disasters and other major emergencies during radio and TV broadcasts, giving the president the ability to flip a switch and address the entire nation at once. The Emergency Alert System, the latest version of a program first established in 1951, blasts out emergency messages in the event of local weather emergencies, but can also be used to warn Americans about terror attacks and major natural disasters. The first Israeli was killed by a missile fired from Gaza on Tuesday night setting the week-long conflict on course for an even bloodier new phase with Israel poised to escalate its military offensive. A 38-year-old man was pronounced death at Askelon´s Barzilai medical centre after suffering severe shrapnel wounds from a missile fired on Tuesday afternoon, according to initial Israeli media reports. The reports suggested he was an ultra-Orthodox rabbi distributing food to Israeli soldiers near the Erez border crossing into Gaza. Hamas´s military wing, the Izzedine al-Qassam Brigades, claimed responsibility for the death, saying they had killed a soldier in a

Pope Francis has called for ´urgent intervention´ to welcome and protect minors traveling on their own from Central and South America to the United States in increasing numbers. The pontiff said today that such measures should include an information campaign on the dangers of the journey. He called on the international community to rise to the challenge and adopt ´new forms of legal and safe migration.´ Tens of thousands of children have streamed from chaotic Central American nations in recent months to the U.S. border, overwhelming the government´s ability to respond. As Hamas rockets continued to fall on Israel even after Jerusalem accepted the Egyptian ceasefire proposal at 9 A.M., Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said that if Hamas does not accept the ceasefire than Israel will “have all international legitimacy to broaden the military operation to achieve the required quiet.” Netanyahu, speaking at the beginning of a meeting in Tel Aviv with German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier, said that Israel “agreed to the Egyptian proposal in order to give an opportunity for the demilitarization of the Strip--from missiles, from rockets and from tunnels--through diplomatic means." The Libyan government has said it was considering calling for international forces to help re-establish security, after a flare-up of violence in the capital Tripoli. "The government is looking into the possibility of making an appeal for international forces on the ground to re-establish security and help the government impose its authority," a government spokesman said in a statement. It also said the forces would help protect civilians and prevent anarchy. The statement comes after deadly clashes Sunday with armed groups led to the closing of the main international airport in Tripoli, which has come under rocket fire.

Hopes for an end to the bloody week-long conflict in Gaza hung in the balance on Tuesday when Israel accepted an Egyptian proposal for a ceasefire only for Hamas, the Palestinian territory’s de facto rulers, to reject it. The early morning decision by Israel’s security cabinet came before a 9am deadline for the de-escalation of hostilities kicked in. The Egyptian ceasefire plan was to give both sides an initial 12 hours to stop attacks. But prospects for the proposal to take hold appeared to diminish when Hamas’s leadership bluntly declared itself opposed to the terms, with the group’s military wing

Israel has accepted an Egyptian truce proposal for the conflict with Gaza. Hamas, which controls Gaza, has not formally responded. But its armed wing has rejected the plan as a "surrender". Under the terms, the ceasefire should begin immediately, followed by a series of meetings in Cairo with high-level delegations from both sides. Palestinian officials say at least 192 people have been killed by Israeli air strikes launched eight days ago to stop militants firing rockets into Israel. There have been no Israeli air strikes into Gaza since the 09:00 ( 06:00 GMT) truce, but at least one rocket has

Have a look at this recent BBC interview with Al Gore. Then, once you´ve cleaned up the sick, consider what it tells us about the current debate on climate change. I´d suggest two things. 1. The mainstream media still isn´t doing its due diligence in exposing the scam. 2. (And this is a consequence of 1.) Charlatans like Al Gore are getting away with murder. "The science doesn´t support that view" declares Gore airily. And instead of challenging Gore on what this "science" of which he claims to be the gatekeeper actually says, the journalist smiles indulgently and moves on

As part of a new multi-million dollar ´Dangers Awareness Campaign´, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection campaign commissioned a catchy Spanish song to be written and produced to discourage families in Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador from sending their children with smugglers to cross the U.S. border through Mexico. The First Lady of these United States has declared war on Chick-fil-A. It seems the home of plump juicy breasts and hot buttered buns has run afoul of the new Smart Snacks in School program. The program is a component of Mrs. Obama’s Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010. The new government regulations require snack items served in public schools to have less than two hundred calories. That includes vending machines, lunch rooms and other campus food venues. And that’s really bad news for kids at South Carolina’s Socastee High School. They’ve just learned they will no longer be allowed to buy Chick-fil-A

“Trust” is for Con Men: The reaction to the border chaos in Texas has accomplished one thing: It has exploded the lie at the heart of current “comprehensive” immigration reform plans. The basic structure of those plans is a swap of a) near-immediate legalization for b) increased border security in the future. The appealing idea is to let current illegals stay while taking the steps necessary to prevent further waves. The lie is the assumption that, once current illegals get their legalization, pro-immigrant activists in both parties will continue to support the second half of the bargain, the increased security.
