Governments Struggle to Parse
Satellite Data in Flight 370 Search

Wall Street Journal, by Rebecca Howard*

WELLINGTON, New Zealand—Australia has asked its allies for extra help in processing new images of the southern Indian Ocean beamed from military aircraft and satellites, as a multinational hunt for missing Malaysia Airlines 3786.KU +2.13% Flight 370 enters a third week. The move underscores the enormous challenges faced by a small group of government workers in countries such as Australia and New Zealand whose responsibilities usually range from scanning satellite data for everything from boats carrying asylum seekers to weaknesses in flood defenses. More recently, those teams have been scrutinizing a welter of images for possible plane debris bobbing on

Something is screwy here. Sure, there is no substitute for the "Mark One Eyeball" but pattern recognition technologies have advanced to a state where computer programs can recognize faces almost as well as humans. Reams of SOSUS (undersea hydrophone) data are routinely processed by sophisticated pattern recognition programs. And with the proliferation of digital video cameras run by various governments one would assume that these technologies have been applied to digital video data as well.

I still say the data from the various SOSUS nets in the Indian Ocean and Straits of Malacca hold the key to where this airplane is.

The relatively minimal U.S. involvement suggests we may know more than we are saying about where the plane is. Maybe Lt. Gen. McInerny´s sources are correct.

#2 is right on point!
A veteran 777 pilot for a major us airline is a member of my church.
He spoke in front of the congregation about how it is possible for the flight crew to decompress the cabin in flight. He speculates that the pilots tapped their abundant oxygen supply, decompressed the cabin which caused cabin oxygen to activate, then ascended to 45k ft and waited for the 12 minute passenger supply to exhaust itself; after that death came quickly for the passengers.
He and his colleagues believe the plane is intact , on land and being prepped for a WMD mission.
Obama and his government know exactly what´s going on..he´s either trying to avoid a panic or is duplicitous. I believe the latter.

President Obama is “absolutely” the most transparent president in history, White House press secretary Josh Earnest said Sunday after the White House received a letter from signed by a dozen top journalists’ groups complaining about the administration’s policies toward the media. “There are a number of steps that we´ve taken to give people greater insight into what´s happening at the White House,” Earnest said in an interview with CNN’s “Reliable Sources.” The letter, signed by the Society of Professional Journalists and the Poynter Institute, among others, accuses the White House of "politically driven suppression of news and information about federal agencies." First lady Michelle Obama grabbed the political reins during a speech to the League of United Latin American Citizens in New York City, telling the crowd of admirers not to worry — that her husband wouldn’t wait on Congress to take action on immigration reform. “So make no mistake about it — we have to keep on fighting as hard as we can on immigration,” Mrs. Obama said, to a cheering crowd, Breitbart reported. “And as my husband has said, he’s going to do whatever administrative action it takes to fix this broken system.” Mrs. Obama then vowed that Congress wouldn’t get

Elected officials in two states far from the U.S.-Mexico border have claimed that the Obama administration has resettled hundreds of unaccompanied illegal immigrant children without adequate notice and has refused to detail the exact locations where the children are being kept. Fox News has learned that 748 unaccompanied minors have been transferred from areas near the border to the Chicago area. Of the original group of 748 kids, 319 have been placed with family members or sponsors while they await an immigration hearing. The other 429 have been placed in facilities run by the Heartland Alliance, a nonprofit organization that receives

Republican governors signal shift on

Deep in the Bible Belt, new signs emerged this weekend of evolving views among Republican governors on gay marriage. While the Republican Party´s religious conservatives continue to fight against same-sex marriage, its governors appear to be backing off their opposition – in their rhetoric, at least. For some, the shift may be more a matter of tone than substance as the GOP tries to attract new voters ahead of the midterm elections. Nonetheless, it is a dramatic turn for a party that has long been defined by social conservative values. "I don´t think the Republican Party is fighting it," Wisconsin´s

When Obama let out his first soul-chilling hint: “We are five days away from fundamentally transforming the United States of America” on Oct. 30, 2008, few thought about what his actual modus operandi might be. The hint was issued by a rabble rouser who had arrived on the world stage with a carefully crafted rock star/messiah status; amid posters of ‘Hope & Change’ distributed to the four corners of the world; the defiant boast coming on on the eve of Halloween to boot. Little did many suspect back then that Obama was about to execute what he envisions as ‘the perfect

Attorney General Eric Holder has a "lot of sleepless nights," reported ABC News this morning. Chief among his concerns? The threat of "homegrown violent extremists. "Asked the ABC News reporter, "Is that threat," like the Boston Marathon bombing last year, "any less serious?" "These lone wolves. These homegrown violent extremists are people who keep me up at night, as well," said Holder. "Trying to monitor them, trying to anticipate what it is they are going to do. And the experience that we had in Boston is instructive. It only takes only one or two people to really do something horrific." The ABC

This is the second in a two-piece article on impeachment of Barack Obama. America is navigating extraordinary travails attempting to adapt to Barack’s increasingly erratic and arbitrary decision-making. This is apparently motivated by his own misbegotten notion he’s a secular prophet who must force America to adapt into his socialistic fantasies. His trashing of the Constitution, ignoring Congress and claiming amnesia on the separation of powers has created a crisis which few on either side seem ready to address. The very bad news is America does not seem to have the courage, conviction or stones to stand up to our

We are told by Liberals that we should not be concerned about the current immigrant invasion of the U.S. because, after all, we are a “nation of immigrants.” Not in the way that Libs mean it. Past immigrants to America have left failed cultures that immigrants knew were failures. That is why they left them to come to America. They came here to join the American culture of achievement and private property which lets them benefit from their achievements. They left cultures of tyranny to join America’s culture of liberty. Immigrants on the southern border currently are not in this tradition. Far

Sarah Palin wants to impeach Barack Obama. In an op-ed article published last week, the former Republican vice presidential nominee declared that the crisis on the southern border (where young illegal immigrants are being detained) "is the last straw that makes the battered wife say, ´No, mas´." The Republican Speaker of the House, John Boehner, thinks that´s loco. (Technically, he said, "I disagree".) For Republicans hoping to avoid the kind of drama that might derail what looks to be a very good midterm election year, this kind of call is both a nuisance and a trend. On April 1, the U.S. economy dropped a whopping 2.9 percent for the first three months of the year (no fooling). The American workforce participation rate fell to a 40-year low. One-third of people aged 18-29 have moved back in with their parents. Millions of Americans this summer will enjoy yet another “staycation”: They just can’t afford to go to the beach or the mountains, even for a week — again. A Fox News exclusive reported this morning by Jana Winter inexplicably buried the lede. Winter reports that several dead children have been discovered “washed up along the riverbank” of the Rio Grande, but fails to note that there have been no reports by the Obama administration on this. This indicates a pattern of covering up dead illegal alien kids by the Obama administration. It was two weeks before news was reported on the sole child death acknowledged by the Obama administration, Gilberto Ramos, a 15 year-old boy from Guatemala whose body was found in the Texas brush dead from the

The “ugly American” has gotten a lot uglier over the past few weeks, from the streets of California to the halls of Congress and state houses around the country. A growing number of our fellow Americans have taken on grotesque features, in looks and sounds, in reaction to the thousands of children from Central America who have crossed our borders as they flee poverty and violence in hope for something better.
