Why Obama Scares Me
Creators Syndicate, by Mona Charen

The most febrile of George W. Bush haters liked to claim during his tenure that the former president "scared" them. There is far more reason to be frightened by President Barack Obama, because fecklessness and inconstancy trigger wars. The outstanding example of weakness inviting aggression was the conduct of the democracies toward Adolf Hitler in the 1930s. Though it has been retroactively tainted as shameful cowardice, the policy of appeasement grew out of a "war weariness" that was far more understandable than our own. Britain and France suffered millions of dead and wounded in World War I and were desperate to

This article explains why we should all be shaking in our boots. Obama is an appeasing fool who refuses to focus on anything that distracts him from his single-minded obsession to fundamentally transform this country. Our enemies recognize it and act accordingly. The Obamabots will never see it coming. History will repeat itself at the expense of the willfully blind. The rest of us see it coming and scared spitless.

Obama’s destiny is to be the catalyst for WWIII. I am just wondering who the liberal historians and journalists will blame for it instead? Probably Putin and his so-last-century aggression.

The anniversary of the Watergate burglary arrived this week, along with the disquieting revelation that it’s not just disgraced former Internal Revenue Service official Lois Lerner who’s taking the Fifth. Her email is clamming up, too. More than a year into the controversy over the tax agency’s targeting of conservative non-profit groups, IRS officials casually told congressional investigators last week that a 2011 computer crash caused thousands of sought-after Lerner emails to disappear. So, can the mess at the IRS now objectively be called an Obama administration scandal? Hillary Clinton seemed to acknowledge as much. “I think that anytime the IRS is involved,”

Of all the things to rise up and bedevil President Obama again, Iraq seemed to be low on the list. But now the White House must live with the reality that, almost three years after the war was declared over, American blood could be spilled anew in a conflict that could readily escalate. Obama´s announcement that up to 300 military advisers would be sent to Iraq marks a brutal moment in a brutal stretch for this presidency, one that threatens to indelibly stain not only his foreign policy record but his legacy as well. This was a man who, as a candidate

Oh dear, someone called former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton "feisty" and now ThinkProgress is out crying sexism. CNN host Christiane Amanpour – a woman, if you didn’t know – said that Clinton "got quite feisty" during her interview Tuesday with Diane Sawyer – another woman (just making that absolutely clear). Wolf Blitzer – who is not a woman – agreed, and also said the word "feisty." This sent ThinkProgress into a tizzy (wait, is that sexist?) and allowed the liberal website to bring up a 2012 "guide" from the Women´s Media Center that details more than 100 words and phrases that

David Brown was imprisoned for 18 months because he demonstrated against rising taxes. Author James Callendar spent nine months in jail for writing a book critical of the government. Newspaper editor Benjamin Franklin Bache was arrested for criticizing the president but died before his trial, while printer Anthony Haswell spent two months in jail for republishing passages from Bache’s writings. These men did not live in some Third World dictatorship. They lived in the United States during one of the darkest periods of our history; a time in which freedom of speech was restricted by the federal government following passage of

In 2007, while co-writing a magazine piece with Silicon Valley author and entrepreneur Michael S. Malone on best Information Age practices for politicians, I coined a phrase Malone instantly dubbed “the Cannon Codicil.” Postulating that electronic messages, like diamonds, last for forever, Cannon’s codicil simply holds that “Nothing digital ever dies.” Although inspired by the water torture Democrats were then inflicting on Karl Rove over his missing Republican National Committee emails, mostly I was being metaphysical. But now, with the Internal Revenue Service claiming it has lost tens of thousands of emails from Lois Lerner and six of her IRS

As Obama administration officials pivot like haywire jewelry-box ballerinas to divert attention away from the nationwide Veterans Affairs disgrace, a reader who has been fighting the system urged me to urge Capitol Hill and the American public to stay focused. This former Special Forces soldier and medic served his country for 25 years. He worked in the health care field managing military field medical clinics. There is such a thing as overexposure in politics, but not in book sales, which is why Hillary Clinton´s self-described "radical-candor" tour for her second memoir, "Hard Choices," has done more to sell books than expand the size of her formidable "Ready for Hillary" base. An NBC News-Wall Street Journal poll released this week found Americans divided about a woman they´ve known as a national figure since 1992: 38 percent of registered voters said they would "definitely" or almost certainly vote for Clinton if she´s a candidate for president in 2016, while 37 percent said they´d oppose her no matter what.

Last weekend Barack Obama played his 175th and 176th rounds of golf as president. He played first at Sunnylands, the famously private course on the Rancho Mirage, California estate of the late billionaire Walter Annenberg. Obama next played at Porcupine Creek, the equally private course on the nearby estate of the very-much-alive tech billionaire Larry Ellison. The White House said Obama received regular briefings on the worsening crisis in Iraq during his golf weekend. "The president directed [National Security Adviser Susan Rice] to continue to keep him apprised of the latest developments," said spokesman Josh Earnest, "as his national security team

If they are sent ashore, their mission will be to rescue U.S. citizens from the consequences of U.S. policy. Then they might have to do the same thing in Baghdad. In early August of 2011, a few days after Congress passed a deal to end the debt-ceiling showdown that brought the nation to the brink of credit default, a conservative talk-radio host in the Milwaukee suburbs went on an extended riff about Gwen Moore, the first African American elected to the House from Wisconsin. Moore had missed the debt-ceiling vote, and her office explained that she had been unable to make her way through the massive crowd that gathered to celebrate Gabrielle Giffords’s triumphant return to the floor. This account provided an opening for radio host Mark Belling.

Hillary Clinton took heat for suggesting that her family was "dead broke" after leaving the White House, a remark that made her look out of touch with the working-class voters she´ll need to woo in a presidential campaign. But while her gaffe isn´t likely to resonate beyond the book tour, her party faces challenges in developing an economic message that´s in tune with the pervasive anxiety that nonaffluent Americans face in their daily lives. So far, the Obama administration´s economic message has focused on reducing income inequality and raising the minimum wage—a poll-tested pitch, but one that doesn´t impact the Americans

Who knew that the Obama administration had a penchant for black humor? Earlier this year, in February, President Obama told Bill O’Reilly during an interview on Fox News that there was “not even a smidgen of corruption” in the IRS scandal involving the targeting of conservative nonprofit groups. In July 2103, Treasury Secretary Jack Lew foreshadowed his boss’s nonchalance by insisting that there was “no evidence” that any political appointee had been involved in the scandal. Now we may know why. After months of delay in responding to congressional inquiries, the IRS now claims that, for the period of January 2009

It has become a daily frightening occurrence, hearing politicians, commentators, pundits, and stunned Americans say, “That´s outrageous!” “He can´t do that!” “No way!” “It´s against federal law!” “They have no legal authority to force us to do that!” These comments are in response to the daily unprecedented out-of-control tyranny handed down by Obama and his operatives. Hillary Clinton — the woman assumed to be the next Democratic Party presidential nominee and quite possibly the next president — is evidently a big snooze. According to Mediate, her interviews to promote her book on CNN and Fox had underwhelming numbers. In the case of Greta Van Susteren’s show, she sent people fleeing midway. More importantly, her book itself is a sales disappointment and, I would wager, even more disappointing if you could ascertain how many who did buy it read actually past page 15. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was in single digits. No, I haven’t read it
