Student suspended for taking
razor from self-harming classmate

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — We teach kids that honesty is the best policy, but at one Virginia Beach middle school it might be better to keep the truth to yourself. Last Thursday at Bayside Middle School, sixth grader Adrionna Harris came to the aide of a classmate who was cutting his arm. She faces expulsion for taking a razor from the student, throwing it away and convincing him what he was doing wasn’t right. She thought she was doing the right thing, so on Friday she told the school administration what happened. (Snip) Instead of getting praise from the school administration, Adrionna

Zero tolerance; suspended for 10 days, recommended for expulsion. She´d be better off in a private school, away from such folly.

Why would anyone want to be taught by idiots?
School vouchers? Oh, no-o-o-o-o, we can´t allow THAT!
This is proof that public schools don´t teach US Civics anymore. If they had, Adrionna could have used the ´Lois Lerner Method´ and plead the 5th Amendment.

Why aren´t the school officials involved named? Every one of these idiots need to be held accountable for their stupidity. Their names and pictures should be plastered all over the internet and TV screens and subjected to ridicule for their complete lack of common sense, and then they should be dismissed from their positions because we surely don´t need these fools teaching our children.

This is a good thing. Had she stayed away from that loony bin on her own she´d have been charged with truancy. Fortunately, for acting sanely, she was expelled. they threw here in the brier patch, which was her good fortune.

Adrionna got suspended from the drone factory for thinking. Can´t have that. Mommy Harris needs to get her to a place that will educate her soon.

This is why young parents need to pay attention to the people running for school board positions and make certain they elect members that represent their values. If not, you can be certain these are the type persons who will be in control of decisions affecting your children.

Girl will not be expelled, according to breaking news on post.

The fact that we´re even having this discussion shows how idiotic many, but certainly not all, school administrators are. And they think they deserve more tax money? For what?

So the lesson a young child can take away from this is that it is better to let a classmate slash themselves up than to take away the instrument of harm. The is madness to the tenth power. The school principal should be named and fired and never rehired in any school system. That would be zero tolerance.

I keep trying to comment but I´m speechless. This is as absurd as the expulsion for biting a Pop Tart into a gun shape.

I feel so sorry for families who don´t have the ability to pay for private school or to home school. The public school system is like putting your kid in a prison run by toddlers.

Not all administrators are morons, mind you, just the majority.

Read yesterday a principal was fired for requiring English be spoken. This principal will no doubt get "Principal of the Year" by the idiots in Virginia.

School Administrators with a rock hard over anything else "zero tolerance" policy mentality have a zero brain cell mentality when things like this happen. The next President ought to disband their union just like what Reagan did to the air traffic controllers union and get some REAL people in charge with at least half a brain. I never regret all of the overtime, extra odd jobs etc. that I did to put my child through private school. Money well spent!

Refused to have my kids put in Bayside also. They only get away with BS if we let them. Embarrass the school committee, keep the story alive. VA Beach is using naive military families to shut up and be quiet about this. Don´t ! Make more noise after all these same people on school committee go along with being an amnesty city. Embarrass them! Thanks for posting. Passing this along to mil friends.

#12, the lesson a young child will take away from this is don´t butt in, don´t have an opinion, keep your head down and MYOB, and "they" will leave you alone.

The system we are living in would like it if we all absorbed that lesson. It would make it so much easier for them.

Keep in mind your tax dollars support public schools. This is what We are paying for today.

What happened to the student she helped ? Was he suspended for bringing a weapon to school or is that hearsay ?

A couple of the comments list the email address for the principal.

Hoping somebody will offer to pay for her tuition at a private school.

The University of Texas can consider race in undergraduate admissions to promote diversity, a federal appeals court ruled Tuesday. Acting in a lawsuit that the U.S. Supreme Court had sent back last year, Judge Patrick Higginbotham wrote that considering race boosted the university’s efforts to assemble a diverse student body. (Snip) The original lawsuit was filed by Abigail Fisher, a white woman denied admission to the university in 2008. She contended the university had discriminated against her in violation of the 14th Amendment. When the 5th Circuit ruled against her, she appealed to the Supreme Court. In June 2013, the high

The Washington Redskins have stuck with their name and logo for years, despite ardent and escalating protests by Native American organizations and their supporters. Even the U.S. Patent Office weighed in this year, calling the logo “disparaging.” Now, Franklin Lakes is thinking about changing its own longstanding depiction of a Native American on its letterhead, business cards, vehicles and website. But this time, it’s the Ramapough Lenape Nation — the closest tribe to the borough — that is objecting. “There is a vast difference between using a dignified image that represents the native people and using a logo that shows a caricature
