Ilves: era of peace is over
Postimees, by Evelyn Kaldoja, Varssavi

(Estonia) Representatives of Estonia and Poland express deepest concern over wider implications of events in Ukraine. NATO, for a while turning its gaze to regions far away, must again concentrate on defending its very self – gone is the age when it was hoped that Europe had embraced a great love for peace and danger no longer existed. This was the message sounded again and again by President Toomas Hendrik Ilves, meeting after meeting, while on state visit to Poland since yesterday. -We begun to plan this visit many a month ago; doubtless, however, it seems to have been ordained

The smaller States now know America is not the great hope it use to be before Obama, as Putin wants to establish a Eurasian Union, they are in trouble.

This is terribly sad. We had the opportunity to visit this lovely country last June and found it to be an oasis of democracy. It has one of the best economies in the area. Prices and taxes were low and business was booming there. Lovely, lovely people.

I don´t know about Estonia, but back in 2008 across Europe, including Eastern Europe, people hailed King Barry as symbolizing the end of American hegemony.

Welcome to the other hegemony.

Hillary Clinton, Elizabeth Warren alliance

Bostoon Herald, by Kimberly Atkins    Original Article

WASHINGTON — U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, whose stumping for the “hammered” middle class has won fanatical progressive support, clearly has ambitions far beyond Congress’ upper chamber, her demurring about a 2016 presidential bid notwithstanding. She now has a perfect opportunity to boost her profile and expand her own fan base beyond her party’s left wing. All she has to do is get on board the Hillary train. Because odd as it may seem, Hillary Clinton needs Liz Warren. And Liz Warren needs Hillary Clinton. Just days into her unofficial first campaign blitz — thinly disguised as a book tour — Hillary’s ham-handed attempts

Fast-tracked DeLeo gun control bill

House Speaker Robert DeLeo’s new proposal to reduce gun violence has barely emerged with a favorable report from a legislative committee, foreshadowing a potentially turbulent reception in the full House and Senate. (SNIP) The bill (H 4121) has been on the fast track since DeLeo filed it on May 27. The close vote follows a lengthy committee hearing last Tuesday, when supporters said the bill will curb gun violence and opponents countered that the bill unfairly imposes hardships on legal gun owners, while not focusing enough on illegal gun owners. The bill, created with the aid of a task force

What do you really think about all of it?" (Snip) She would be Sarah Palin, Engaging TV Personality, beloved by all.

Neighbors of a man accused of misleading investigators after the Marathon bombings described a surreal scene this morning at his Quincy apartment — with FBI agents surrounding the building with their guns drawn before hauling off Khairullozhon Matanov in handcuffs. Leslie Aiello, 49, said she was on her couch about 5:30 a.m. when she heard, “We have a warrant out for your arrest,” followed by three loud bangs — what she believes was FBI agents using a battering ram at Matanov’s first-floor apartment where he lived on Common Street for about a year. The Benghazi investigation could shred the last threads of Secretary of State John Kerry’s credibility. After nonstop major foreign policy blunders with Israeli/Palestinian negotiations, Syria, Ukraine and Iran — just to name a few — his alleged collusion in the withholding of smoking-gun emails tying the White House to the Benghazi ?cover-up could be the final nail in his political coffin. It took a lawsuit by the nonprofit Judicial Watch to extract those key emails showing the White House purposely misled the American people about the terrorist attacks just weeks before the 2012 election. In a report issued this week, a military panel says the United States is making a big mistake in failing to join with other nations in the United Nations Convention of the Law of the Seas, losing out on opportunities to manage the Arctic and negotiate future disputes. The report, by CNA Corp.´s Military Advisory Board, examines effects of worldwide climate change on national security. It warns that climate-related problems, like droughts and food shortages, are already exacerbating regional and international conflicts. Grade-school math. As schools around the U.S. implement national Common Core learning standards, parents trying to help their kids with math homework say that adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing has become as complicated as calculus. They´re stumped by unfamiliar terms like "rectangular array" and "area model." They wrestle with division that requires the use of squares, slashes and dots. The total cost to implement Obamacare in Massachusetts surpassed a half-billion dollars yesterday, as the Health Connector board agreed to seek an additional $121 million in federal funds to try to rescue the money-hemorrhaging health exchange. “This is now Massachusetts’ Big Dig I.T. project,” said Joshua Archambault, a health care expert at the Pioneer Institute. “The decision was completely irresponsible to taxpayers, with very little uncertainty we’re going to get the end result that we want.” The board approved a two-track plan yesterday — invoking an emergency provision to sidestep state procurement laws — to award a no-bid contract to

Sarah Palin wants to impeach Barack Obama. In an op-ed article published last week, the former Republican vice presidential nominee declared that the crisis on the southern border (where young illegal immigrants are being detained) "is the last straw that makes the battered wife say, ´No, mas´." The Republican Speaker of the House, John Boehner, thinks that´s loco. (Technically, he said, "I disagree".) For Republicans hoping to avoid the kind of drama that might derail what looks to be a very good midterm election year, this kind of call is both a nuisance and a trend. A Fox News exclusive reported this morning by Jana Winter inexplicably buried the lede. Winter reports that several dead children have been discovered “washed up along the riverbank” of the Rio Grande, but fails to note that there have been no reports by the Obama administration on this. It was two weeks before news was reported on the sole child death acknowledged by the Obama administration, Gilberto Ramos, a 15 year-old boy from Guatemala whose body was found in the Texas brush dead from the

A growing number of our fellow Americans have taken on grotesque features, in looks and sounds, in reaction to the thousands of children from Central America who have crossed our borders as they flee poverty and violence in hope for something better. Sadly, the arrival of these youngsters has been greeted by flag-waving, sign-carrying, Bible-thumping and Constitution-quoting citizens demanding that they not be received here and that they be returned immediately to their

And that does not stand for “good.” Pollster John Zogby has given President Obama an “F” this week for the White House performance on the global stage, and the researcher has no imminent good news for the president. “Some people have really bad weeks. Brazil’s President Dilma Rousseff got an ‘F’ after the nation’s soccer team lost to Germany.
