Rep. Louie Gohmert Quotes Sarah Palin
and Tina Fey on House Floor

Mediaite, by Matt Wilstein

Original Article

Sarah Palin’‘s infamous 2008 premonitions about Russia were officially entered into the congressional record this past week, thanks to Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX), who said he wanted to “set the record straight” once and for all on exactly what she said. The problem, in Gohmert’s estimation, is that the Tina Fey delivered on Saturday Night Live as Palin — “I can see Russia from my house” — has overshadowed Palin’s actual quote to ABC News’ Charles Gibson concerning Russia’s proximity to Alaska. As Gohmert long-windedly explained from the House floor, what Palin actually said was, “You can actually see Russia from

Why silliness? He is correct, and doesn’t seem to give a hoot about what others think of him. Wish we had more of this behavior. Both accurate and humorous.

I don´t get why this is "silliness." Maybe I´m just not evolved enough to understand deep, political thinking, but it sounds like truth to me. One of the reasons that the republican party is where it is today is that too often we keep our mouths shut and don´t set the record straight, in order to be "above it all." I say good for Gohmert. Wish we had more like him.

So there! Way to go, Congressman Gohmert. The "I can see Russia from my house" meme has become an accepted truth among the lofo Palin-haters.

Gohmert made another correction to a widely-accepted bit of pop-knowledge. He said that life isn´t so much like a box of chocolates, but rather more like a very hotly-spiced dinner: what seems like a good idea comes around to bite you in the butt the next day.

Gohmert did not dimish himself in my eyes; more so, honorable, brave and not afraid of what his opposition would say (opposition-RINOs).

Thankfully, Rep. Gohmert is interested in the truth and defending a person of class from the lies told about her and defending her on-target prediction of a world event and making sure that prediction is recorded for historical accuracy, and is not interested in silly online pretenders who do nothing but tear down the people who are trying to make the world a better place.

Politicians in Germany have devised an ingenious solution to combat the threat of eavesdropping by American spies: playing classical music during their meetings. MPs who sit on the spying committee had become so concerned that US agents might listen in to their discussions that they had ordered classical music to be played, to drown out the discussions. On arrival at the meeting, The Suddetusche Zeitung reported that for "security reasons" MPs had to put their mobile phones and computers into a large metal box to ensure that they were not subjected to outside surveillance. "Then the committee chairman, Patrick Sensburg switched the music

Israel escalated its offensive against Hamas on Wednesday, carrying out dozens of air strikes and warning about 100,000 Palestinians to leave their homes in the Gaza Strip by a deadline of 8am. The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) held fire for six hours on Tuesday in accordance with an Egyptian ceasefire plan, but an official statement said that Hamas continued to launch rockets, killing one civilian. “When it was clear that Hamas had no intention of ceasing its fire after it had launched over 75 rockets, the political echelon approved the IDF to resume targeting terror sites across the Gaza Strip,”

Less than 3 percent of the U.S. population identify themselves as gay, lesbian or bisexual, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported Tuesday in the first large-scale government survey measuring Americans’ sexual orientation. The National Health Interview Survey, which is the government’s premier tool for annually assessing Americans’ health and behaviors, found that 1.6 percent of adults self-identify as gay or lesbian, and 0.7 percent consider themselves bisexual. The overwhelming majority of adults, 96.6 percent, labeled themselves as straight in the 2013 survey. Tomorrow is the deadline for the public to comment on the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) attempt to regulate the Internet under the seemingly innocuous moniker of “net neutrality.” The architect of this movement, and the man who coined the term “net neutrality,” is Columbia law professor Tim Wu. Unfortunately, he has proved to be immensely influential among regulators. Net neutrality rules have been sold for a decade as a way to keep the Internet “open and free” by keeping Internet service providers (ISPs), such as phone and cable companies, from blocking or degrading Web sites. Its advocates have argued that ISPs

For the mothers of those missing from this dusty northern Nigerian town, nightfall is a time when rest proves impossible, when three hours of fitful dozing is the most one can hope for. And for the fathers, it is a time for round the-clock-vigils, patrolling the edges of town in case of yet more attacks. Some readers and commentators have described the story as an overheated statement of the obvious: that surveillance of one person includes the content of people who talk to him. Others have said The Washington Post, not the government, invaded the privacy
