Ukraine threatens to

Kiev - Ukraine ratcheted up its standoff with the Kremlin on Tuesday by threatening to nationalise Russian property in response to Crimea´s claims to its own assets in the breakaway Black Sea peninsula. (Snip) Russia´s state-owned natural gas giant Gazprom has a vast pipeline network running through Ukraine that feeds clients in southern and western Europe. Other top Russian assets in the former Soviet nation include branches of Sberbank -- the largest lender in Russia and third-biggest in eastern Europe. But Ukraine´s Liga.net independent news site said Petrenko had separately told reporters that Kiev would consider compensating its potential Crimean

Well Ukraine better not be depending on Omusbro and his ilk for support cause it ain´t gonna happen.
Putin knows Omusbro is a weak, ineffective, amateurish president and the Ukraines will find that too.

What good would it do to seize the pipelines if the gas that flows through them originates in Russia?

The U.S. and the E.U. will not honor our promise to defend them. I bet they regret listening to Clinton and got rid of all their nukes. Or, did they?

If they nationalize Russian assets will that give Putin the excuse to invade Ukraine to protect them?

More questions here than with the missing plane.

I believe Russia will invade if it simply believes it´s assets will be seized. I also believe this would have occurred much sooner because Putin had Obama pegged a long time ago but the Olympics delayed things.

A few days ago another Kiev Krazy said Ukraine might buy nuclear weapons to deter Putin. Disrupting Russia´s cash cow, its natural gas sales to the EU sounds just as wise.

But why nationalize Ukrainian owned assets in Crimea either. They have relatively little value, Crimea is no economic powerhouse. I don´t see the payoff for Moscow.

The commander-in-chief will be beach bummin’ it in Martha’s Vineyard, Mass, this summer, and the home he is reportedly renting out looks amazing. President Obama and the first lady are planning a two-week vacation at a seven-bedroom, nine-bathroom home in Chilmark, the Martha’s Vineyard Times reports. The first family will travel to the island from Aug. 9 to Aug. 24, making the 15-day getaway the longest summer vacation of Obama’s presidency. Harare, Zimbabwe — President Robert Mugabe’s statement early this month that whites will no longer be allowed to own land in Zimbabwe, and that any white farmers still left will be kicked out, raised eyebrows at home and abroad. Now those comments by the long-ruling autocrat are bringing a backlash in Zimbabwe’s beleaguered trade and tourism ministries. One Harare business newspaper calls them “not just racist but also unconstitutional, retrogressive, and detrimental.” As the Monitor reported July 3, Mr. Mugabe visited a small farming community 120 miles from the capital Harare that was handing out land permits. The broadcast of the interview was immediately preceded by a tweet, which has since been deleted, from a spokesman for the Republican Governors Association. A massive influx of unlawful immigrants from Central America has policymakers searching for quick fix. While inadequate border security and false perceptions of U.S. immigration law have undoubtedly helped fuel the problem, they are just part of the equation. A thorough understanding requires a look further south. (Snip) In Guatemala, impunity reigns supreme. El Salvador remains home base for the most violent regional street gangs, Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) and Barrio 18 (M-18). Michelle Obama is a popular first lady. On average, her favorable ratings have been higher than those of her predecessors, Laura Bush and Hillary Clinton. This may well reflect the fact that more so than other first ladies, Mrs. Obama has a stand-alone personal image. Unlike other recent first ladies, her popularity has not fallen or risen with her husband’s. How popular is Michelle? A steady two-thirds of the public has held a favorable view of Mrs. Obama, according to nationwide Gallup poll and Pew Research Center surveys, for most of her time as first lady. At 69 percent, her average

BILLINGS, Mont. – Coal industry representatives say lawsuits against mines in three Western states could have consequences across the U.S. as environmentalists seek changes in how mining is approved on federally owned reserves. In civil cases unfolding in Colorado, New Mexico and Montana, the group WildEarth Guardians asserts coal companies benefited from lax oversight by federal regulators. The group says the U.S. Department of Interior approved mining plans without enough public involvement, and gave little heed to the pollution caused by digging, shipping and burning coal. The group asked the courts to stop mining until the plans are re-done. The

Sarah Palin wants to impeach Barack Obama. In an op-ed article published last week, the former Republican vice presidential nominee declared that the crisis on the southern border (where young illegal immigrants are being detained) "is the last straw that makes the battered wife say, ´No, mas´." The Republican Speaker of the House, John Boehner, thinks that´s loco. (Technically, he said, "I disagree".)
