The Unbearable Lightness of Barack Obama:
Desperation, Cunning, or Disengagement?

It’s been less than six months since Bret Stephens used a version of this headline, but four events in the last week have caused it to scream in my mind. Before I get into those four events, let me say that I understand the only way to stay remotely sane in Washington, D.C., is to ignore 85 percent of whatever is trending at any given moment. That said, there are times anyone less isolated than a Carthusian monk is unavoidably exposed to “news” that 25 years ago would be considered fit only for National Enquirer. The four events that have disturbed

Desperation, Cunning, or Disengagement?

I don´t see this as a mutually-exclusive argument. I think he is a mixed bag of all this and a whole lot more. I believe he has periods of desperation due to his disapproval ratings and inexperience, quickly drowned out by his all-encompassing preoccupation with being an autocratic, Constitution-stomping, Bullgarian-speaking, productivity-obstructing, job-killing, court-defying, dictatorial, race-divisive, class-divisive, selfie-posing, celebrity gad-fly and lawless phoney-baloney plastic banana republic socialist hood-ornament who can walk away from dropping a steaming pile of dung to go play golf.

FTA "The four events that have disturbed my tranquility while delighting DC Twitterati and radio talk show hosts are President Obama’s appearance on a web show called “Between Two Ferns” with comic actor Zach Galifianakis, his shopping trip to a Gap store in Manhattan, a visit to the White House by singer Lance Bass to discuss Obamacare, and lastly, an interview with someone named Ryan Seacrest about his “mom jeans.”"

This is what is news in the lapdog msm. The President of the United States is at the Gap looking at pastel sweaters for his daughters while Russian special ops forces are invading the Ukraine. That tells me obama could care less about what Putin is doing. I guess this is the flexibility he told Medvedev about after his re-election. Most destructive President ever!

The headline is at least as brilliant as the article, and complements its meaning perfectly. It´s a play on Milan Kundera´s "The Unbearable Lightness of Being", in which the nondescript Chance the gardener becomes the implausible celebrity, Chauncey Gardner. If ever there was a prescient work of fiction come to life, this is it.

It´s a given that Odumbdumb is an intellectual midget and intellectually lazy. The issue is discerning when he is being so deliberately in order to divert and deceive and when it is just coming naturally to him.

And the author loses points with me for claiming to not know who Ryan Seacrest is.

Obama´s pathetic performance in the Oval Office is as much the fault of the American people as it is his own. These are the same slobbering fools who think that no-talent jerks like Justin Bieber and Kanye West are cool when they actually respresent the worst of modern culture. How "cool" will it be to become a third world country with no influence in the world, no economy and no respect? We are well on the way thanks to the idiot Kenyan who thinks he knows it all but is actually one of the least astute people in world governments today.

Pelousy medicates too much (that unblinking stare);

Reid is just - too much!

Then, who is holding it all together?

(Just suppositions on my part. Though if true, probably it´s the media gurus and political consultants who are holding it all together for us.)

Yet none of that mattered next to the dancing and the star-studded endorsements and the coolness factor.~~

Perhaps many more will wake up? Let us pray.

Reading this article the thought came over me that it wasn´t just that we are now a nation filled with LoFos (and voter fraud) that Obama was foisted upon us. Perhaps it is largely due to the liberal destruction of the traditional American family where children admire and want to emulate their parents. With no strong fathers to venerate, the millennials are looking desperately for heroes, and they were tricked into thinking they found one in the empty rhetoric of Obama.

This one´s pretty easy. He´s lost the youth vote and so he´s trying to reach the youth vote by demeaning himself and acting like a teenager. The lesson, of course, is that everything is politics to him. We worry about jobs, Putin, the Constitution . . . He doesn´t care about any of that; he only cares about political power, Moochelle´s vacations and riding on Air Force 1. That means palliating his silly bases and trying to reclaim some of his juice. I can´t wait for November.

The lesson learned from the Obama elections is that the model of Alinsky Organizing can be used on a national level.

As long as the shiftless can be organized to vote for a welfare state this will continue to happen.

There is a fix but it´s nowhere anyone wants to go. Yet.

All true, he can buy his own mom jeans, shop for his daughters´ sweaters, fret about people laughing at him, and all the rest, but it is the media that directs our attention to these matters. There lies the dictator and, the disengagement, the cunning. The desperation all belongs to BHO. It isn´t the lo-fos so much as what the media feeds the public and knowledge dictates. The public can only speculate and form opinions based on the information received. Had the media done its job BHO would have never been elected. We live in the dictatorship of the media. Look to what they believe in and desire to see the future.

There is no merit to liberal progressivism: only existentialism. Our way of life is under direct assault from this Democrat administration and other terrorists! They have the technology and ability to stoop to subterfuge, fabricate slander, manufacture evidence, murder by proxy, physically and ethically and to obliterate dissent. The time of being too timid to stand up to this corrupt government, the media, liberal education is over. Regulation and taxes could drive all of us to have to beg at the feet of the government for survival and that is what they want. 2014 is a very, very important year. They control most of the media, schools, universities, etc. If we don´t vote and encourage our like minded friends to vote in the next election, we may never have another chance to save the country. What more do you have lose to wake up.

I want to believe in an electoral solution this NOvember, but I cannot deny the reality of sophisticated voter fraud, and the confluence of communist propaganda in our culture via the news, entertainment, and music industries. I will work and vote for TEA Movement candidates on the public level, but on the personal level I am identifying those issues where civil disobedience will be my response.

I view the old WWII resistance movies through a different lens these days. Where once I enjoyed the story, now I note the tactics and organizational features. I am also strengthening my relationship with God through daily prayer, Scripture study, and regular fasting. The Lord is my rock and foundation, of whom should I be afraid?

The reluctance of Hamas’s “military wing”—a misnomer for the more extreme elements of its extremist leadership—to accept the cease-fire designed by Egypt is, well, logical. Let’s admit it. They do not wish to accept defeat, and the Egyptian terms are a defeat for Hamas. By attacking Israel, what has Hamas wrought? Considerable damage was done to Gaza by Israeli air power, and Gazans will be picking up the pieces for months if not longer. But Hamas proved unable to kill one single Israeli with its hundreds of rockets, and all its special tricks—tunnels, longer-range rockets, a drone—also failed. Nor could

House Republicans are moving quickly to address the growing humanitarian crisis on the southern border, possibly holding votes as soon as next week. As Congress moves closer to the monthlong August recess, the speedy action sends a clear message to Senate Democrats: Take it or leave it. Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), incoming Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) and a group of top lawmakers working on the border crisis are set to file a bill that very closely mirrors the legislation crafted by Texas lawmakers Sen. John Cornyn, a Republican, and Democratic Rep. Henry Cuellar.

Two of the larger social trends of our time — the growth of payday gambling and the legalization of marijuana — have two things in common: They are justified as the expansion of personal liberty, and they serve the interests of an expanding government. The ideological alliance behind these changes is among the strangest in U.S. politics. Libertarians seek to lift governmental restraints on consensual acts. State governments seek sources of revenue without the political inconvenience of requesting broad tax increases. Both find common ground in encouraging and exploiting the weaknesses and addictions of citizens. (And business interests and their lobbyists,

That same consensus also holds that if the GOP does indeed take control, the next two years will be marked by confrontation with the White House and even less actual legislative action than the present Congress has accomplished. To be fair, there is some compelling logic behind these conclusions. President Obama has clearly opted out of the role of governing through legislation. In his message to the “Mexico/Holy See Colloquium on Migration and Development,” Pope Francis characterized the tens of thousands of illegal immigrants that have crossed the U.S. southern border as a product of globalization, suggesting that the phenomenon is happening worldwide. Francis proclaimed, “Despite the large influx of migrants present in all continents and in almost all countries, migration is still seen as an emergency, or as a circumstantial and sporadic fact, while instead it has now become a hallmark of our society and a challenge.” Emmer McCarthy for Vatican Radio said Francis expressed his concern for “the tens of thousands of

The First Lady of these United States has declared war on Chick-fil-A. It seems the home of plump juicy breasts and hot buttered buns has run afoul of the new Smart Snacks in School program. The program is a component of Mrs. Obama’s Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010. The new government regulations require snack items served in public schools to have less than two hundred calories. That includes vending machines, lunch rooms and other campus food venues. And that’s really bad news for kids at South Carolina’s Socastee High School. They’ve just learned they will no longer be allowed to buy Chick-fil-A

“Trust” is for Con Men: The reaction to the border chaos in Texas has accomplished one thing: It has exploded the lie at the heart of current “comprehensive” immigration reform plans. The basic structure of those plans is a swap of a) near-immediate legalization for b) increased border security in the future. The appealing idea is to let current illegals stay while taking the steps necessary to prevent further waves. The lie is the assumption that, once current illegals get their legalization, pro-immigrant activists in both parties will continue to support the second half of the bargain, the increased security. John McCain, an immigration hawk. Who knew? Mr. McCain, the highest-profile Republican of the U.S. Senate’s “Gang of Eight” that came up with amnesty as the solution to the immigration crisis — and it truly is a crisis — is finally taking a hard line against President Obama for his encouraging the tidal wave of illegal aliens swamping the southwestern border. “There has to be a halt to this,” Mr. McCain thundered Sunday on CNN. “That’s what we want, and the best way to do that is for planeloads of these young people to be returning to their country of origin

Contrary to what those who defend the right to own high-powered assault rifles believe, not all guns are created equal. Due to a combination of availability, portability and criminal usage the following five types of guns are the country's most dangerous. School Shootings: Widely Reported Tragedies Since 2000 - Using firearm trace data from the ATF, as well as FBI homicide records, we determined the types of guns most often recovered from crime scenes and/or used in murders. The numbers are stark: According to the FBI's 2012 Crime in the US data, nearly 70 percent of homicides for which the FBI received weapons data involved the use

It had to come sometime, and it came in one very bad week for the Democrats: that the many big problems with Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama finally grew too great for the press to ignore. Obama in his own different way is heading towards Nixon-like levels of weirdness, as, beaten down by the failures regarding his ventures, he appears to have quit his own job. A.B. Stoddard of the Hill says in effect he has stopped being president and chooses to live in a world of his own, shutting out the problems that have become overwhelming, giving dinners where he talks

The headline in the Washington Post on June 4 was clear: Rove-backed American Crossroads won’t get involved in Cochran runoff Said the Post story the day after Tea Party favorite Chris McDaniel had defeated six-term Mississippi GOP Senator Thad Cochran in the first round of the state’s GOP primary: American Crossroads, a GOP establishment organization, has decided to shift its political focus almost entirely to the general election and will not be spending money in the likely runoff election to decide the Mississippi Senate nomination that was virtually deadlocked after Tuesday night. Senate Budget Committee ranking member Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) has warned all of his colleagues in Congress that President Barack Obama’s new immigration strategy—his plans to legalize millions of illegal alien adults through executive power—could destroy America as we know it. “I write to inform you of a development that threatens the foundation of our constitutional Republic,” Sessions, Congress’s top immigration hawk, wrote in a letter that was hand-delivered to all 535 members of Congress on Monday and provided exclusively to Breitbart News. Sessions cites a recent report from the National Journal, in which reporter Major Garrett detailed how, despite the ongoing

Attorney General Eric Holder encouraged Americans not to forget race while working for justice and equality in their country. “As it stands, our society is not yet color blind -- nor should it be -- given the disparities that still afflict and divide us.” Holder explained, “We must be color brave, and we must never forget that all are made better and more prosperous if all are given equal opportunities.” Holder made his remarks during a speech at Howard University on Tuesday for the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the Civil Rights Act. “We must take into account not only the

WASHINGTON — It was an enduring image of his presidency: a chastened Bill Clinton walking his dog while wife Hillary keeps her distance as the family leaves town at the height of the Monica Lewinsky scandal — but it was all part of a contrived public-repentance campaign, according to a new book. With Bill on the skids and his wife’s future prospects on the line, it was necessary for the pubic to see the president being punished, said Weekly Standard online editor Daniel Halper in his new book, “Clinton, Inc.: The Audacious Rebuilding of a Political Machine.” “They understood that
