ObamaCare and My Mother´s
Cancer Medicine

Wall Street Journal, by Stephen Blackwood

Original Article

Posted By:garnet, 2/24/2014 8:06:00 AM

When my mother was diagnosed with carcinoid cancer in 2005, when she was 49, it came as a lightning shock. Her mother, at 76, had yet to go gray, and her mother´s mother, at 95, was still playing bingo in her nursing home. My mother had always been, despite her diminutive frame, a titanic and irrepressible force of vitality and love. She had given birth to me and my nine younger siblings, and juggled kids, home and my father´s medical practice with humor and grace for three decades. She swam three times a week in the early mornings, ate healthily

I think this is what Sarah Palin meant by "death panels" because Obama and his clan are the true elitists. Why do you suppose it states in the Bible that we are to take care of the poor, sick, and widowed?

I don´t buy into Obama´s phony act. Yes, he says all of the important cliches during his campaign speeches but that is only to get people hooked. If he really cared about the poor, he wouldn´t be out there spending like a drunken sailor. He would be providing relief to the taxpayer. If he really cared about the sick, Obamacare would have gone in a different direction. I like what Senator Lee has to say about medical insurance. Let´s get it privatized and not dependent on employers. After all, we are able to buy our own car or life insurance. By privatizing medical insurance, we could get competitive rates.

It is time that we taxpayers insist on honest governments. We need to get rid of the excessive spending and reel in the fraud. I´m not the type that thinks there should be no government but it should be limited. It has become bloated. Too bloated.

What is left unsaid is that the evil insurance companies who had sold her the policy before she got the cancer, paid for the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. Had they not paid, she could well have taken them to court.

But rules, created by HHS under the authority granted them by ObamaCare, caused her old policy to be cancelled. And the company who has written the new policy complying with new rules from HHS says they no longer will provide her medication. So she appeals. But if the appeal is denied, she no longer can sue.

This law must be repealed.

( My opinion ). Now people can see first hand how the law actually affects real people´s lives. This and the other stories breaking almost daily are heart wrenching. And all people are writing is that {" The law must be changed ". How about REPEALED !! People are going to die because of this law. and a President who lies should be impeached. ( again, in my opinion ).

second comment, but political -Mr Blackwood is an ´intellectual´ - the college he is President of is designed for "intellectuals "- nothing wrong with that, but the man states nothing in the article about the perversity of the ACA law, the people who created it, how much HE personally supported them - who he voted for ( twice ) - and so forth - He just seems to tell a story - maybe he is incapable of displaying hatred for those who damage his family - I would like to see him post another article telling how he FEELS about what has been done to his mother- and the Administration and it´s people who are possibly "killing" her- as sad as it is- that is the truth - and the GOP can use his mother´s story to advertise the damage the Democrats have done to our citizens -

Curious why insurance commissioners are not getting involved. Insurers are overwhelmed by continual changes.

Humana has gotten so every time you call it´s a different answer that contradicts the last person. Sick people get worn down not so much by the illness as the fight to pay for it all. Those that have spouses to fight for them do better.

Well, it´s Easter time, and that means that the mainstream media and publishing houses can be counted upon to issue de-bunking attacks on orthodox Christianity. The best-publicized of these is Bart Ehrman´s How Jesus Became God. Many by now know at least the outlines of Ehrman´s biography: once a devout Bible-believing evangelical Christian, trained at Wheaton College, the alma mater of Billy Graham, he saw the light and became an agnostic scholar and is now on a mission to undermine the fundamental assumptions of Christianity. In this most recent tome, Ehrman lays out what is actually a very old thesis, going back

Obama shouldn´t embrace

It was disappointing the other day to see President Barack Obama embracing the vulgar race hustler Al Sharpton. President Obama once eloquently confronted race in a memorable speech in Philadelphia in 2008. That speech was remarkable and honest and, to borrow a favorite word of the political left that still fawns over him, it was nuanced. But there was nothing particularly remarkable about Obama standing next to the preening Sharpton, speaking in New York to his National Action Network. Except that Obama expertly used a message of victimization to begin energizing black voters, who provide the electoral foundation for the Democratic Party.

The replacement of Kathleen Sebelius by Sylvia Mathews Burwell as the Secretary of Health and Human Services has been portrayed by the legacy “news” media as a new lease on life for Obamacare. The party line is that Sebelius was mortally wounded by GOP exploitation of a single uncharacteristic mistake—the botched rollout of Healthcare.gov—while Burwell is a brilliant Beltway veteran unsullied by controversy and possessing the very administrative skills needed to save Obama’s “signature domestic achievement.” (snip) This tale fails to conform to the facts, however.

Last Tuesday, our President swaggered into the Rose Garden to announce that 7.1 million people have signed up for health coverage through Obamacare’s exchanges and that all further argument about the future of his “signature domestic achievement” was pointless: “The debate over repealing this law is over. The Affordable Care Act is here to stay.” The problem with this claim is that no one with a basic grasp of arithmetic believes Obama’s enrollment figures, only about a quarter of the electorate supports his “reform” law, and it is still the target of multiple lawsuits challenging its constitutionality.

A new survey reveals that public esteem for Obamacare is continuing to plummet, hitting yet another historic low. (snip) The AP survey shows that a mere “26 percent of Americans support the Affordable Care Act.” (snip) When the law was passed, 39 percent of the public supported it. But the President, along with his accomplices in Congress and the media, assured us that this percentage would rise once “reform” was implemented. In other words, Obama and his minions are no better at prognostication than they are at managing websites, insurance exchanges or anything else relating to health care.

One of the reasons Clarence Thomas gives for the studious silence he maintains during Supreme Court hearings is that his fellow justices have shown an increasing tendency to talk too much during oral arguments, thus preventing advocates from presenting their arguments coherently. Yesterday’s Supreme Court hearing in Sebelius v. Hobby Lobby Stores and Conestoga Wood Specialties v. Sebelius suggest that Thomas is right. Paul D. Clement, who appeared on behalf of the two companies challenging the Obamacare contraception mandate, was repeatedly interrupted and badgered by justices Sotomayor, Kagan, and Ginsburg.

The most febrile of George W. Bush haters liked to claim during his tenure that the former president "scared" them. There is far more reason to be frightened by President Barack Obama, because fecklessness and inconstancy trigger wars. The outstanding example of weakness inviting aggression was the conduct of the democracies toward Adolf Hitler in the 1930s. Though it has been retroactively tainted as shameful cowardice, the policy of appeasement grew out of a "war weariness" that was far more understandable than our own. Britain and France suffered millions of dead and wounded in World War I and were desperate to

For the first time ever, researchers at Northwestern University have analyzed the relationship between casual use of marijuana and brain changes – and found that young adults who used cannabis just once or twice a week showed significant abnormalities in two important brain structures. The study’s findings, to be published Wednesday in the Journal of Neuroscience, are similar to those of past research linking chronic, long-term marijuana use with mental illness and changes in brain development. Two white adults divided the toys, one equally and the other unequally. Seventy per cent of the toddlers chose to play with the researcher who distributed the toys fairly. But in a second test, when one researcher favoured a white recipient over an Asian one, they picked the ‘fair’ researcher less often, the journal Frontiers in Psychology reports. How do you ensure that you won’t be ostracized, denounced, or fired if you are a media celebrity, captain of industry, or high public official? For some, sexist banter is certainly no problem. Stand-up comedian Bill Maher called Sarah Palin a c–t and a tw-t, but suffered no ill consequences. David Letterman joked on air that Sarah Palin’s 14-year-old daughter had had sex with Alex Rodriguez during a New York Yankees game. There was no downside to that either. President Obama tosses around “sweetie” as he wishes. No problem with that. No one believes Barack could be condescending to women.
