Mysterious polio-like illness
affects kids in California

USA Today, by Elizabeth Weise

Original Article

Posted By:mitzi, 2/23/2014 7:00:10 PM

A mysterious polio-like syndrome has affected as many as 25 California children, leaving them with paralyzed limbs and little hope of recovery "What´s we´re seeing now is bad. The best-case scenario is complete loss of one limb, the worst is all four limbs, with respiratory insufficiency, as well. It´s like the old polio," said Keith Van Haren, a pediatric neurologist at Lucile Packard Children´s Hospital in Palo Alto, Calif. The first known case appeared in 2012. Sofia Jarvis in Berkeley began to experience wheezing and difficulty breathing. The 2-year-old spent days in the intensive care unit at Children´s Hospital Oakland.

Comments:
Other than an early case in Berkeley, it doesn´t specifically say where in CA - but appears to be SF Bay Area.

If i recall correctly, a couple of weeks ago there was a report about a "form of polio" found in some Syrian refugees, a concern for surrounding countries to where they were escaping.

When will people here awaken to the plethora of health threats alone as a result of uncontrolled "immigration" and refugees from undeveloped countries?

Very interesting is OP´s comment about most cases in the SF area. I know there are antibiotic resistant strains of TB about, and a rebound of illnesses eradicated from the USA and most Western countries.

Not polio but similiar symptons. Would have been informative as to the actual count of those affected who had been given a polio vaccine treatment.

I found some info on a science website (science20 dot com):

Illness Similar To Polio Found In Cluster Of California Children

The children were treated but their symptoms did not improve and they still had poor limb function after six months. Two children tested positive for enterovirus-68, a rare virus previously associated with polio-like symptoms. No cause was identified in the remaining three children.

#1, years ago the kids´ pediatrician told me why they had to be tested for TB and innoculated for so many things.

His reason: There are so many people entering this country from third-world regions where these diseases are common, we are starting to see them in our population. He went on to say that he had several patients who had presented with illnesses pretty much conquered in this country--TB among them.

House Republicans are plotting a $1.7 billion tax increase aimed at America’s most elite colleges and universities. The tax increase is buried on page 879 of Congressman Dave Camp’s 979-page tax reform bill. The bill is considered unlikely to become law, but Mr. Camp is chairman of the powerful, tax-writing Ways and Means Committee, and his draft legislation is likely to provide a road map for tax reformers in years ahead. The tax, as outlined in Section 5206 of the legislation, is called an “excise tax based on investment income of private colleges and universities.” It begins, “there is hereby imposed on each applicable institution for the

One of our favorite japes is about the group of scientists who figure out the secret to life — a way to make a human being from nothing but dirt. When they’ve worked it all out, they are so excited they go directly to God to announce their discovery that He is no longer necessary. He appears a bit surprised, but they offer to demonstrate. He nods. One of the scientists bends down and scoops up a fistful of dirt. “Oh, no,” God exclaims. “You’ve got to make your own dirt.” This is how we feel about bitcoins. The idea

How does classifying most consensual sex as rape help rape victims? As a lawyer who has handled rape and sexual harassment cases, I can’t imagine how. But this radical result is what some want to happen in California. In endorsing a bill in the California legislature that would require “affirmative consent” before sex can occur on campus, the editorial boards of the Sacramento and Fresno Bee and the Daily Californian advocated that sex be treated as “sexual assault” unless the participants discuss it “out loud” before sex, and “demonstrate they obtained verbal ‘affirmative consent’ before engaging in sexual activity.” Never

Attkisson, who has been with CBS News for two decades, had grown frustrated with what she saw as the network´s liberal bias, an outsized influence by the network´s corporate partners and a lack of dedication to investigative reporting, several sources said. She increasingly felt like her work was no longer supported and that it was a struggle to get her reporting on air.

You have probably seen all of the ridiculous speculating about the GOP nomination in 2016. This is still speculating, but my sincere hope is you don’t think it’s ridiculous too. Kentucky Senator Rand Paul is laying the foundation for his presidential bid in concrete and steel. First, forget about Jeb Bush unless you want to hand Hillary eight years in the White House. The latest Rasmussen poll shows her leading Jeb in a general election 47 percent to 33. His name is Bush and to the general public the specifics of how smart he is doesn’t matter one iota.
